The First Legendary Beast Master - Chapter 1643 What Are You In For?

Chapter 1643 What Are You In For?
“Hey, cat. What did they get you for?” One of the Obsession Demons asked from the next cell.
“They think that I broke in to prison.”
The demon gave him a strange look. “Who would even do that? I mean, if you could get in, you could get out. And everyone here wants to get out.
I’ve been waiting here for nearly five years for my hearing”
“Ah, so the bureaucratic system here runs as efficiently as the one at home.
I do hope that they don’t expect me to wait here for years while they investigate.”
The Demons in detention laughed. “We’ve never seen anyone leave. I wouldn’t get your hopes up. If you’re not guilty when you arrive, you will be by the time that your hearing rolls around.
That’s how it works.
But you said that they’re doing an investigation. What sort of investigation? Normally, that’s done before anyone makes it to holding”
“They are wondering where the Demon Lord who was supposed to be in the holding area where they found me went.
You see, it was cut loose, bumping into Immortal Worlds like a crappy loot piñata. I went to explore, and ended up getting arrested for trespassing.
So, they’re investigating their neglected prison sections.
Who knows, they might have just forgotten what room they put the guy in, clearly nobody has checked on him in a couple of hundred or thousand years.” The Demons laughed. “That’s entirely possible. The guards rotate in and out every hundred years, but some of the prisoners have been here for millennia. It wouldn’t shock me if the documentation for half of them was remade every time that a new group took over.
Carnage has been here for five years now, after he lost a bet.
Most of the others came at the same time that he did. I arrived here waiting on trial just before the guards changed, and I have hopes that I will be heard soon. There aren’t many in the holding area who have been here longer than I have.”
A succubus across from Karl giggled. “Even if you are, don’t worry about it too much. We’re all Immortal, and the Rule of Time works differently here. We’re not flowing at the same rate as the outside world.
They will hardly know that you’re missing.”
“Well, that’s some consolation, I suppose. It’s just unfortunate that I’m easily bored. I’m sure that it will all work out. It usually does.
Oh, I suppose I don’t have to sit here bored and alone, I can summon someone in to keep me entertained.”
The guards looked alarmed at his comment.
Nobody was supposed to be able to use skills or magic within the Prison. If they were capable, they were supposed to be restrained in some other manner so that they weren’t a threat of attacking the guards or other inmates.
“Don’t do it. If you do it, we’re going to have to use a more forceful method of restraint,” the guard warned when it became clear that Karl might actually do it. “Yeah, I thought that might be against the rules. How is the investigation going?”
“It’s been three minutes.”
The Obsession Demons laughed at the guard’s annoyance, while Karl settled peacefully on the metal bed to see if he could still do basic things like trying to improve his Power Matrix while he waited.
That was all internal, he didn’t have to use external mana, which was blocked here, and he didn’t have to express his own mana.
However, when he tried, he found that his internal energy was locked down tight. It was only energy from the Tiny World that he could move with relative freedom, and that couldn’t be used to try converting his Immortal Spirit into the Void Stage.
He didn’t have long to wait.
Only an hour later, Carnage and a group of Supreme Ranked Demons in police uniforms returned.
“We have determined that the prisoner in that space was gone long before you arrived. The wards failed when the core was sufficiently damaged. Now, it is just the matter of the fine for trespassing”
Karl sighed. “Alright, how much is it going to cost me?”
“There are two payment options. Three minutes in the ring, or three Immortal Rank Epic Grade items.”
Karl smiled. “I was hoping that you’d say that. Alright, how about we split it? I will give you two minutes in the ring and one Immortal item.”
He had at least a few crafted weapons in his possession.
Carnage began to celebrate, while the other prisoners began praying for Karl’s immortal soul. Two minutes was a long time. Against a Legendary Wrath Demon, it might as well be eternity because those two minutes were going to take the rest of your life.
Karl tossed Carnage a spear, one of the Epic Grade items that he had come up while trying to improve on what he’d made for Dana.
None of them had been notably better, and he was only saving them so that he could use [Breath Of The World] on them later. Once he did that, there might be one or two that came out better than the Spear of Sisterhood he had given
her.
“So, where are we fighting? Is there an arena here? Or do we just head for the exercise yard?” Karl asked.
Carnage smiled as he examined the spear. Attack and life steal with added fire damage was a pretty good combo. Not good enough that he would use it at his power level, but good enough to give to one of his lieutenants.
“We will have to change venues so that we can fight properly. If you can’t use all your skills, it’s not even going to be worth trying. Do you at least have a skill that might keep me entertained?”
Karl nodded. “In fact, I do. It’s only at my level, but I think that it should give you a moment’s entertainment. You see, I can summon Epic Golems.” Carnage nodded. “That might be entertaining. If you know a good version of them, that is. Too many of the so-called amazing skills are underwhelming.”
