She didn’t argue with him on this. She said in agreement, “I know, and you’re right. Which is why I want to offer you another deal.”

This piqued his interest, so he said, “What deal is it?”

She replied, saying, “If you help me hold the city for a week, I will give you an opportunity to earn a natural wonder.”

Loki thought about her proposal for a while before saying, “Make it three.”

But she said, “I can’t do that. I can only give you an opportunity to earn the natural wonder. How much you can earn is up to you.”

He didn’t even know what a natural wonder was or how valuable it was, so he couldn’t really be sure if what she was offering was a good deal or not.

But he was sure that what she was asking him wasn’t a big deal either. He could easily hold the city for a week, and it would even help him earn grade 4 merit points, since he hadn’t earned any since that first rank 4, being that he killed before.

So he said, “Fine. I’ll hold the city. But you must send more people to take care of the riffraff. I will only act to deal with the rank 4 enemies.”

She immediately said, “Deal.”

Then she quickly spent one grade 5 merit point to buy a contract. She filled in the terms of their agreement in the contract before sending it to him.

In all her years of working as the commander of this battlefield, she has only earned 3 grade 5 merit points. Two of the three have been used to buy grade 5 contracts to secure her agreements with Loki. It can be seen just how much she is willing to invest in him.

On the other side, Loki received her contract. After skimming through it, he signed it and yawned. He yawned because he was bored.
