Chapter 318: Divine Negotiations(Bonus Chapter).
The last divine being, the one from the Four Directions Sect, looked at everyone with a sneer on his lips. He was sneering because he had seen through their motives for making and agreeing with that suggestion.
In fact, he wasn’t surprised to see this. He knew that the suggestion wasn’t actually made to make sure that only one of the five of them could get the strange secret in the small world. He knew the suggestion was made to prevent the Four Directions Sect from getting the secret because his sect possesses the most pathways.
If a pathway has an average of 10 divine posts, the fact that the Four Directions Sect possesses five pathways means that they will have 50 divine beings. In comparison, the Myriad Phenomenon Sect will have 30 divine beings, while the remaining three will have 20 divine beings each.
With this kind of power and the fact that the pathways of the Four Directions Sect help a single person fight many people, the chances of this secret falling into the hands of the Four Directions Sect if the five sects were to fight for it are the highest.
So, in order to prevent him from relying on the massive power of his sect to get the secret, the divine being from the Myriad Phenomenon Sect made that suggestion, and the three with the weakest sects were quick to agree.
But he didn’t mind being boxed in like this. This is because he is truly capable of fighting many people on his own.
So he said, “Let’s do things that way then.”
“But how are we going to decide who gets the secret?”
The divine being from the Nexus of Truth immediately replied, saying, “Let whoever can find it first take it.”
The divine being from the Myriad Phenomenon Sect nodded her head in agreement and said, “That seems fair.”
The divine beings of the Sword Way Sect and the Martial Body Sect didn’t think that was a fair method of distribution at all, since the divine beings of the Nexus of Truth have an advantage in finding things. But they haven’t talked yet because they need a third person to support them.
Fortunately, the one from the Four Directions Sect didn’t think it was a good idea, and he had no qualms about objecting to it.
He said with a sneer, “How is that fair?”
Then he said, “If you’re going to use the advantage of your sect, just say so. I, too, can use the advantage of my sect. I just need to call them.”
He was threatening to expose the matter to his sect if they didn’t use a fairer method of distribution. With this kind of ultimatum, the bronze giant and the quiet swordsman decided that he didn’t need their help to object to the suggestion, so they continued to keep quiet.
In response to the threat, the divine being of the Myriad Phenomenon Sect frowned and said, “Fine. What do you suggest?”
The enslavement divine being said in reply, “The secret will ultimately go to who has the strength to keep it. But everyone who contributes to the acquisition of the secret must be paid for their contributions too.”
His suggestion was fair and sound. No one had any complaints, and even if they did, they couldn’t voice those complaints because they were sure that he would just threaten them with the power of his sect again if he didn’t get his way.
So instead of complaining, they voiced their agreement. Then they swore oaths to finalize their agreement.
After oaths were sworn, they began planning how to go about retrieving the secret. Their planning was basically the division of the quest for the secret into various steps that each one would be responsible for.
So they were using the division of labor to maximize their chances of getting the secret. At any other time, they wouldn’t agree with this kind of plan since they would all be working together, only for one of them to get the secret at the end of the day.
No one wants to work for another person to reap the rewards. But since everyone would be rewarded according to their contributions, they were willing to work together to get the secret.
After the plans were made, they took action. The first one to make a move was the swordsman.
The swordsman was a lady. She touched her sword and didn’t seem to have done anything after that. But a massive gash suddenly opened up on the crystal wall of the small world.
As soon as the crystal wall was torn open, the bronze giant made his move. He rushed to the injury, grabbed the edges of the cut, and spread it apart with all of his strength.
While the bronze giant worked to keep the injury to the crystal wall from healing and closing, the divine being from the Myriad Phenomenon Sect pinched out a talisman in her. This took a few seconds to do.
When the talisman was ready, she threw it into the gap in the crystal wall. The talisman transformed into a brown ring as it flew. This brown ring wedged itself into the gap and began to expand, which further pushed the gap open.
They did all of this so that they could gain entry into the small world. It is something they have to do because divine beings can’t enter small worlds anyhow they want.
The crystal wall will behave like jelly to weak beings, but to divine beings, the crystal wall will become rock solid. This is because a small world doesn’t want them to enter it since they are practically a small world themselves.
Because of the resistance of the small world, they have to go through these elaborate steps to force their way into the small world.
Of course, they didn’t need to work together to gain entry. They could have tried to gain entry on their own, but that would have taken too much time and created noise that might attract the attention of other divine beings.
