THE GOD EATER - Chapter 335: PTSD.

Chapter 335: PTSD.
What was out of place was that the killing cultivator that she fought with had a Life Ability called Madness. This Life Ability coats his weapons and fist with a black layer of energy that causes the target to lose their minds upon contact with the black layer of energy.
Each time she crossed swords with that enemy, her mind was afflicted by the Madness Life Ability. Eventually, her judgment became clouded, and she couldn’t think straight anymore.
Things became a blur from that moment onwards. She still can’t remember exactly where she went or what she did during the twenty hours of Madness. But when she regained her senses, she found herself in a city full of fragmented body parts.
Apparently, she had massacred the entire city during her blackout. She hadn’t spared anyone. Both the babies in their cradles and the elderly with their crutches were cut into chunks of meat by her sword.
Maybe things would have been different if she had come to her senses somewhere in a forest. Maybe what she did wouldn’t have mattered much if she hadn’t been aware of it. But she wasn’t so lucky.
She had seen the fruits of her labor in all of its glory. So, since that day, she had never been the same again.
Even now, when she closes her eyes, she can still see the rivers of blood full of intestines and chunks of meat that flowed through the city. And when she doesn’t close her eyes, the sight of a city full of houses painted in red occasionally flashes across her vision with vivid colors of red.
But this is still not the worst thing. The worst thing is dealing with the consequences of her actions. The worst thing is knowing that there are many people who lost their loved ones and family because of her.
She had massacred four cities in total and deprived millions of people of their loved ones. This is something that she always remembers and always haunts her every waking moment.
Only alcohol can help her forget what she did. If only for the briefest moment, getting drunk can indeed alleviate her sorrow. This is why she is always drinking.
If she weren’t an alcoholic, her Dao Heart would have crashed a long time ago. It is because she is always drunk that she can survive up to this point.
Unfortunately for her, alcohol is not going to work forever. It is getting more and more difficult for her to forget and ward off the mental repercussions of her massacre, so she needs to do something incredibly good to make up for her sins.
This is why she is going to find the guardians of this world. She doesn’t plan to kill them, though. What she plans to do is to convince them to surrender so that this Heavenly Battlefield will end early, and fewer people will have to die.
By saving the people of this small world, she will be able to redeem herself and restore her identity as a savior. That is her utmost goal right now.
Of course, she knows that this goal won’t be easy to accomplish, as she expects that the guardians won’t be easy to convince to surrender. After all, the guardians have been promised by the divine beings of Blessed Heaven that if they manage to kill all of the invading rank 5 cultivators, their world would be allowed to leave.
With this promise and the fate of the entire world on the line, the world guardians will be more inclined to kill her. If they are hell-bent on killing her, she won’t mind it. She is even looking forward to it since death will free her from the torment of what she did.
With her mental world in shambles and her Dao Heart on the brink of collapse, she will never be able to reincarnate if she dies. This means that she will forget what she did. So death is highly welcomed.
But if the world guardians don’t kill her, she intends to work with them to fight and defeat every rank 5 invader in the world. This will be more difficult than what she originally planned, but it will reward her with a greater amount of merits, which is always a good thing.
All in all, no matter the outcome of her venture, she will be fine with it. The only problem with her plan is that she doesn’t know where the guardians are.
Since she doesn’t know where the world guardians are, she can only look for them by searching every major city one by one. That’s what she was doing before Monarch Two Swords sent a message to her telling her to find out how the swordsman whom she was tasked to protect died.
She was given a job to protect the swordsman with the Quick Draw Life Ability, which wouldn’t have been a big problem if he had stayed with her. But the other swordsman didn’t want to go about looking for the elusive world guardians, so he went his separate way.
If she had been afraid of death, she would have cared about the life of that swordsman and would have done everything to keep him safe, even if that meant following him around. But she didn’t care.
So when she decided to leave, she only shrugged and continued her search. It was later that she heard that he was dead.
Now that he was dead, not only had she failed to protect him, but she had also failed to find out how he died. All she knows is where he died because that was the last location that his tracker pointed to.
She has failed on both ends, but she doesn’t care about it. What she cares about right now is that there is a large city full of millions of people nearby. A city of this size should have a world guardian, so she is going there to search.
