Chapter 342: A Gamble.

The firing rate of his Gatling guns was too fast, so no matter how many crows the death cultivator could produce, Loki could always shoot them down. As long as the death cultivator can’t make more than 200 crows attack him per second, he can always overwhelm the crows with his firepower.

But for some reason, he decided to stop overwhelming the black crowd with his firepower. This allowed one of the black crows to approach him and smash into his head.

This attack looked like a physical attack, but it is actually a spiritual attack. It is a deadly spiritual attack meant to shatter the soul and allow the death cultivator to take over one’s body as one of the army of the undead.

Usually, there are very few ways to defend against spiritual attacks, which makes the attack very deadly for most of the populace. In fact, this kind of attack is practically a death sentence for most people, but not for Loki.

Loki was able to block the attack thanks to the defensive power of the Shifting Armor Life Ability enhanced by the Strength Pathway. So when the crow smashed into his head, it bounced off. Then he punched it to death.

The cloud of crows was surprised by this, and the crows expressed their surprise by saying, “How did you do that? You’re a forger. You’re not supposed to be able to do that.”

If he were fighting a seer, the seer would probably be able to tell how he defended against that attack. But the death cultivator doesn’t have such astute capabilities and was baffled as to how a forger had been able to block his spiritual attack.

Only Loki wasn’t surprised by this outcome. However, even though he expected it, he still sighed in relief when it actually happened.

Then he thought to himself, ’Fortunately, the Shifting Armor was able to block it. It seems I didn’t overestimate how much it had healed.’

If the Shifting Armor were in its top condition, he would have no concern about it being able to block that attack. But the Shifting Armor is still missing a lot of mass and can only barely cover his body right now, which is why he was uncertain about its capability.

He had waited over ten minutes for the Shifting Armor to heal before he dared to take this gamble. Now that his gamble had paid off, he decided that it was time to take the fight to the enemy.

But he decided not to target the big fish so as not to bite more than he could chew. He looked around for a small fish to use. After finding a viable small fish, he activated the Mind Network Metac.

The Mind Network Metac exposed all of the minds within a distance around him. He used it to pick the mind of an unassuming squirrel and connected to it while he continued to run away.

After he connected with the mind of the squirrel, he planted a Mind Node and a Mind Bomb in it. Then he deactivated the Mind Network Metac immediately.

The squirrel he picked was very close to him and in front of him. So the distance between them was short and only shortened as he ran. This made it so that the time it took for him to connect to the squirrel’s mind was very short.

The black crows thought that they saw something spring out from his mind, and shoot forward ahead of him. But it had happened so quickly that it looked like they were seeing things that were not there.

The squirrel also didn’t do anything out of place for a squirrel and continued to eat acorns, so it didn’t draw any undue attention to itself. This made the black crows ignore the squirrel when they ignored the other animals in the forest that they passed by.

The army of skeletons that trampled through the forest also ignored the squirrel. They didn’t notice that a tiny mental string had extended from the mind of the squirrel towards the head of a small skeleton.

But as soon as the thread entered the mind of the skeleton, the death cultivator noticed it. This was because there was a black crow in the mind of the skeleton.

In fact, the entire mind of the skeleton is a black crow. The black crow has completely possessed the skeleton and is controlling its every move. So as soon as the intrusion appeared, the black crow noticed it and began to resist it.

The black crow flapped its wings and rushed at the threat with its claws raised up high. It wanted to use its claws to cut the thread into pieces.

But the Mind Freeze Metac took effect. The power of this move was very high because Loki was enhancing it with the power of the Killing Pathway and the power borrowed from the Vengeful Bones Metac.

So the power of the Mind Freeze Metac was able to overwhelm the crow and freeze it. With the black crow frozen, the white thread was able to enter the mind of the skeleton unhindered.

After gaining access, the Mind Spike Metac took effect. This caused the white thread to become sharp and hard, so it was able to pierce the body of the black crow. From there, the Mind Bomb Metac was used.

A Mind Bomb was planted in the body of the black crow. Then a second Mind Bomb was planted. Then a third Mind Bomb was planted.

Loki didn’t stop until he had planted 15 Mind Bombs in the black crow. As for Mind Nodes, he didn’t bother with that at all. He only planted Mind Bombs.

With this done, he removed the white thread and the Mind Freeze Metac. Then he waited to see what would happen.

In the physical world, the skeleton had frozen and fallen to the ground. This put it in a situation where the others could trample on it.
