THE GOD EATER - Chapter 545: A Better Idea.

Two more money cultivators came to reinforce the group of divine beings of the Thorn House of Commerce. This raised their numbers from five to seven.

With seven people on their side, they were able to defeat the six enemies. But the five they defeated earlier came back with reinforcements.

The five had gained two more helpers, so the fight became seven against seven. Things became worse for the cultivators when the six they just defeated joined the fight to gang up on them.

With a total of 13 divine beings fighting their seven, their defeat was set in stone. However, just as the money cultivators were defeated, the two sides that had ganged up on them turned against each other.

The money cultivators spent some time resting after their defeat. Not that they were tired. But they used the time to replenish their lifespan by sacrificing world essence and spirit stones to their Life Fire.

After replenishing their lifespan, they waited a while more for the two groups to tire each other out. When one of the groups faltered after running out of too much lifespan, the money cultivators joined the fight to beat the victor.

The fighting was messy and chaotic like that. It was nearly impossible to kill each other, so they could only force the other side to give up.

When they lose too much lifespan, they will naturally give up on fighting. But even if they have an unlimited lifespan, they will still have to give up at some point when they spend too much of their lifespan in the fight for the continent.

The continents have an appropriate value in terms of lifespan. When the contenders for the continents reach the limit of this appropriate value for the continents, they will give up.

So at the end of the day, the person who is unwilling to continue spending their lifespan will be the winner, not the one who is stronger. Strength will only grant temporary victory before the enemy returns to fight for the continent.

Loki thought that this chaotic fight was more like an auction. This made him chuckle inwardly and say to himself, ’Wouldn’t it be less violent and more efficient if we just held an auction for these continents instead of fighting like this? At least, that way, we won’t waste our time on fighting.’

’Even better, the other contenders will be able to split the final price among themselves. That way, the final winners of the auction will get the continents, while the failed contenders will get to share some lifespan.’

The more he thought about it, the more reasonable he felt it was. So he nodded to himself as he said, ’With an auction, the whole process will be peaceful, and everyone will gain something. It won’t be like now that nearly everyone is going to lose something.’

He thought that his idea was great, but he didn’t suggest it to the other divine beings. In fact, he behaved like an ordinary rank 6 divine being with only one rank 6 Divine Metac.

He didn’t stand out at all. He was just one of the 57 cultivators. And over the one hour of fighting that he participated in, he became one of the 72 divine beings fighting for the three continents.

The total number of divine beings increased from 57 to 72 because people kept calling for reinforcements. Loki thought that this whole fight was wasteful, and he blamed the sword cultivator for it.

He said to himself, ’All of these should have been mine. But that bastard had to remain stubborn until death. Now I have to help other people gain control of the continents that should have been mine.’

When he thought of what the Sword cultivator must be going through right now, he grinned and said inwardly, ’He must not be having a good time right now. I wonder how bad his situation is.’

The answer was that the situation was really bad for the sword cultivator. This shouldn’t have been the case since the sword cultivator technically survived the fight.

The sword cultivator had come out of what was left of his Cave Heaven at the exact same time that the three continents had appeared. Loki missed him because Loki was busy assimilating one of the continents.

The sword cultivator used Loki’s absence to escape the second heaven. He dropped from the second heaven into the second dimension. Then he used the power of his Cave Heaven to enter the third dimension. From there, he left the Blessed Heaven World completely.

While the sword cultivator was escaping, one of his Divine Positions had become free. This was because he had destroyed the Divine Metac that was used to anchor the Divine Position.

He destroyed that Divine Metac in order to get rid of Loki’s Siphoning Ability. His move worked, and he became free from the thing that was draining his lifespan at a rate of 6 years every second. Of course, he had to pay the price for his freedom.

The repercussion for destroying a Divine Metac was to make the Divine Position free for others to take. Now, anyone who successfully forges the Sword Storm Metac can take up that Divine Position.

This was bad, but it could have been worse if he had only had one Divine Metac. At least, with two Divine Metacs, he could give up one for safety.

With two Divine Metacs, his Life Fire could continue to burn after the destruction of one Divine Metac. If he had only one Divine Metac, then only death would await him for destroying the Divine Metac.

Still, losing one Divine Metac meant that he had lost half of his strength. Losing 80% of his Cave Heaven and law fragments meant that he had likely lost another 80% of the 50% strength remaining.

So after his ordeal with Loki, he only possessed 10% of the strength he had before fighting Loki. But as bad as that was, he couldn’t be bothered with it because his troubles were not over.
