The Innkeeper - Chapter 1691: Soul transfer

Chapter 1691: Soul transfer
“Jack the hell slayer?” Tinker questioned as she looked up at the sky. She had recently met someone who could, through his words alone, cause death and destruction beyond anything she could achieve despite being at a higher cultivation.
She also understood that whatever was happening in the sky was related to fairies since she could feel her path to the Heaven Immortal realm become somewhat simpler. Thus, there was only one conclusion to make – she had been rescued by the disciple of Jack!
Since she had learned the ultimate, forbidden art from one of Jack’s disciples, did that make her a disciple by extension? Was Jack the messiah the fairies had been waiting for all along?
If so, there was only one thing left to do.
“Let’s get jacked!” Tinker roared, as if adopting a new, lifelong creed and motto.

The universe was on the precipice of war. The Path of Order and Chaos were riled up. Celestial had called the Celestial court to an emergency session, while the Humanoid Alliance took up arms.
The enemies of the Humanoid Alliance, both in the Path of Order and Path of Chaos, geared up to respond. Many other powers, too, were implicated, such as the dragons who had maintained good relations with the Humanoid Alliance.
Everything could go horribly, horribly wrong at the drop of a hat. At that moment, the words written in the night sky caused a deep and deafening silence.
“Who in the hell is Jack the Hell slayer?” someone asked. But he got no response. Everyone waited to see what the reaction caused by such a revelation would be. But, nothing happened.
No one had any idea who this Hell slayer was, or where he came from, nor did anyone know why he was strong enough to address the whole universe the way he did.
The only other character who had just appeared out of nowhere but had immense, undeniable power like that was the Innkeeper who… as far as appearances went… was backing the humans, a race on the brink of total collapse. He even recently released Dao Mist in his Inn, demonstrating the ability to slay Dao Lords.
Now, this Jack the Hell slayer had shown up, and was supporting a race on the brink of total and complete universal extinction – a feat that was not easy to achieve.
One was an anomaly, but two was a pattern. Suddenly, all signs of war vanished, and all forces retreated.
Instead of getting ready for war, they began to investigate. There was a conspiracy afoot, and they would uncover it before any real damage was done. The most absurd thing was… even the spies within the Humanoid alliance knew nothing about these two.
This was incredibly dangerous.
“Find out who Jack is, and find out how he did this,” someone said. The same statement was parroted across the universe by all sorts of people and organizations. Suddenly, the name Jack became a taboo in the universe, and it became a crime to name newborns Jack in certain realms. In other places, such as the Heavens, Jack became a holy name, taken up only by the most noble.
Within just a few seconds, a universal war had almost been initiated, and in just a few more seconds any thoughts of war evaporated entirely. Jack had no idea that he was at the center of such a huge historical moment, nor did he have any means of finding out.
But when he woke up, he would learn that the Nexus point was almost ready to be revealed, reducing its appearance time from hundreds of years to mere decades. It had already produced its first signs of appearing.
Within the Challenge realm, the old fairy did not seem perturbed at all. What did it care about the activities of the races of the universe? Some could destroy the major realms, sure, but as a realm, it did not care to think about that. It merely performed its function, irrespective of the ramifications.
The divine ore was fusing with Jack’s bones, mixing with his marrow, and becoming one with his soul. Naturally, even one of those, let alone the fact that all of those were happening, would mean that Jack’s soul had gained an element of the divine ore.
That also meant that Lex’s soul had absorbed, and gained properties of that particular divine ore.
While absorbing the ore, there was a very small amount of the refined ore left over that would not be needed to complete Jack’s ascension, but at that moment, it disappeared inside his body too.
The old fairy finally opened his eyes, looking at Jack oddly. But since nothing had gone wrong with the ascension, he did not pay much attention to it.
He simply closed his eyes and resumed his task. Stealing back a part of the power of fairy dust had not been easy, and had consumed a tremendous amount of energy. It would be a shame if something went wrong now after the hard part was already over.
Within Abaddon, Lex, who was sitting on the mech’s shoulder studying the laws of Abaddon, paused for a brief moment. He held out his hand and made a small cut. From within his hand, instead of blood, a piece of ore began to emerge.
For a long time, Lex just sat there, stunned. How had Jack sent this to him? Neither he, nor Jack knew. He tried to teleport some other items from himself to Jack, but it didn’t work. He tried to absorb things into his soul in an attempt to transfer them over, but that didn’t work either.
But no matter what the case, that small piece of divine ore had now travelled from the Artica realm to Abaddon in mere seconds. That was tremendous, and presented a huge opportunity if he and Jack could send things to each other seamlessly.
But that was obviously something that would require a lot of work. For now, though, he didn’t know what to do with the ore. After a bit of hesitation, he decided, on a whim, to transform it into a pendant and put it on. Later on, if he thought of a good use for it, he could always make changes to it.
