The Innkeeper - Chapter 1786: Sharknado IV

Chapter 1786: Sharknado IV
Lex tried to suppress his grin as he looked at the 300 billion MP bill. Although compared to his daily income now 300 billion MP was nothing, seeing to one big client was infinitely more satisfying than a million nameless clients just sending him money.
Sure, that was absolutely necessary. But there was just something about earning that bit of income that was just so satisfying.
“For the ease of transportation, all your purchases are sealed inside cards which you can keep on your person,” said Lex, as he handed Katrina a couple dozen cards. “All you need to do is channel some spirit energy inside the card, and your purchase will come out. This also ensures the freshness of all the goods.”
“Um, thank you. This is really helpful,” Katrina said, her blatantly obvious shyness finally replaced with excitement instead. “I think these will be very helpful, but I’ll come back and let you know how everything worked out.”
“Oh, that would be lovely,” Lex responded. “As always, we can improve our services based on any feedback you give. And, you know, if you could bring me back a souvenir from your home planet when you return, I’d really appreciate it. It sounds very exciting there.”
“Of course. That’s not a problem at all!” Katrina said excitedly, before finally leaving the Inn.
Lex waved at her as she left. The reason he had been so interested in the souvenir was not because he wanted the actual souvenir. Instead, whatever world or place Katrina was from seemed extremely unique, and it kind of itched Lex’s travel bug.
Any place curious or interesting was a place that he wanted to visit. Maybe this wasn’t something he always felt, but after years of traveling to so many different places, it had become somewhat of a habit.
Besides, if he could get his hands on some of those so-called gem fragments, he might be able to use them to improve his comprehension of laws dramatically. If there was one thing he learned from traveling to Abaddon and meeting Kreel, it was that the moment he became complacent, someone else would surpass him.
Having a cultivation technique with great potential was not the same as realizing that potential.
Lex spent a few moments waiting in the disaster area, organizing his thoughts. The auction was going to start in a few weeks, and up until it began, the Inn was accepting any applications by individuals to enter items into the auction.
This was not a bad idea and it had caused the first segment of the auction to be filled with many unique items that were useful for cultivators of all levels. Even immortals could benefit from the first segment.
It was only the super wealthy, or super strong who were interested in the items in the second segment.
But, there was one guy who had donated an item which was evaluated to be so valuable, it had to be indeed into the second segment. The incredible thing was that the guy who had brought it had no idea about its worth, and was just trying his luck.
While others found a scene like this interesting, Lex thought otherwise. That reminded him of protagonists in books. If there was a protagonist coming to his auction, then that meant that something bad was going to happen at the auction.
Although the Inn had security, he decided to be extra secure, just in case. He teleported away.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Origin realm, there was a segment of the realm that was naturally separated from the rest of the realm. Much like the area of the Origin realm where Lex underwent his tribulation, this segment was surrounded by a natural barrier that kept the inside entirely cut off from the outside.
The area was not too large, it was about the size of a single galaxy. To locate a single, hidden galaxy amongst the vastness of the Origin realm was an immense undertaking, especially if no one knew to look for it to begin with. That was precisely why even the Henali did not know of its existence just yet.
But within that segment was not an actual galaxy, no. Instead, there was one, continuous landmass that filled up the entire area. The landmass reeked of a primal aura so ancient, it actually predated the Origin realm itself.
Secrets untold lay hidden within, and powers unfathomable lay slumbering. None of that mattered to Katrina, though.
The moment she returned home, gone was her previously docile and delicate attitude. There was not a hint of shyness to be found anywhere within her massive frame.
Deprived of her fragments, she was safe from being targeted since she had nothing that anyone wanted. But she was simultaneously in the most danger, for she was at her most vulnerable.
Finding the tsunami that had ambushed her was not going to be easy, nor was it her goal. Instead, she needed to attack weaker forces to snatch their gems to strengthen herself.
So, she did the one thing she rarely did. She went towards land.
Going on land would normally weaken her, but with the cookies and treats available to her, she feared nothing!
Focused, she raced towards the nearest landmass with her greatest speed, a mission in her mind.
If Lex saw her now, he’d barely be able to recognize her based on how aggressive her demeanor was. It couldn’t be helped. Katrina was a whole lot more sensitive than most, and from the Midnight Inn she sensed a level of danger that chilled her to her core.
It was a very familiar kind of danger – the kind she felt from the Slumbering Giant. Every disaster from the Land of Yore knew that the greatest disaster of them all was the Slumber Giant, and no one dared to wake him from his slumber for that very reason.
The Inn was different, and yet the danger she felt was the same.
For now, though, none of that mattered. As soon as she reached land, she sensed an earthquake in the distance. She did not hesitate in eating the shark shaped cookie, summoning the sharks of white light inside her raging winds as she charged forth.
The land itself began to tear and fly up into the air, amalgamating with her, strengthening her, as she tore through the land. Such a blatant challenge could not go unanswered, and soon the ground began to rumble as the earthquake rushed to meet her. Normally, considering her gemless state, this was a foolish move from her. Normally.
As the earthquake showed up, Katrina didn’t hesitate. Her winds stopped hovering as she finally touched the very ground, pulling out trees from the ground and ripping mountains apart. The more of the landmass she absorbed, the greater her source of spiritual energy became and the stronger she was.
But by touching the ground, she also made herself vulnerable to the massive strength of the earthquake. Yet that is exactly what she wanted, for when the earthquake attacked, that is when her sharks appeared.
They dove into the earth, their ethereal forms traveling through the solid ground and into the very essence of the disaster, biting and ripping it to shreds.
A deep wail emerged from the ground, as if the very mantle in the ground beneath her was breaking apart. The earthquake tried to retreat, but the jaws of her sharks had already sunk into its very soul, ripping it apart just as she ripped apart the very ground.
No longer was she just another hurricane, no. Now, she was Sharknado, Queen of Water, Wind and Earth. Where her winds could not rip, or swallow, her sharks would tear to shreds.
Her power boost was as if a tiger had been given wings, or rather, a hurricane had been given sharks.
A few moments later, her sharks emerged from the ground, covered in spiritual blood, and brought her all the gem fragments the earthquake had collected so far. They were a considerable amount, but they were not enough. This was just the beginning.
Katrina paused, however, as she took some time to digest her gains. Her size and strength had both increased, so it was best to gain full mastery of her new and improved form before she continued her hunt for disasters.
If she was fortunate enough, and that damn tsunami appeared in front of her, she would first thank it, for without it, she would have never reached the Inn. Then she would swallow it whole!
From that day on, a new legend began to spread in the Land of Yore. It was of a new kind of disaster, a sharknado, that was growing at an unprecedented pace, gathering so many gem fragments that she would shine even in the dead of night. Legend even said that if she was furious enough, her form would change again. She would go from having only sharks, to having pandas that rode atop her sharks.
No one knew if that rumor was true or not, for anyone who could verify it had already died.
