The Innkeeper - Chapter 1802: Grim Reaper with a Butter Knife

Chapter 1802: Grim Reaper with a Butter Knife
Now Lex was not looking forward to seeing how powerful his most powerful attack was at all! Anyone who thought that was seriously misunderstanding Lex’s motives during this critical juncture. Just because he could perfectly hide all traces of his activities, supplement his strength with his system and make sure the repercussions were manageable, did not mean he was using this opportunity to act cool! Not at all!
The Tyrants Mask Lex put on had a few powerful effects, besides just generating a small amount of divine energy based on how widespread the legend of the Invincible Tyrant was. It also granted him anonymity which was hard to see through – though in the situation where he had put the mask in front of people, it could obviously not hide his identity.
The second ability it had gained, after growing through absorbing divine energy, was to entirely suppress Lex’s aura. While Lex himself could also suppress his aura, the complete suppression of the mask was quite incredible.
The reason he needed to hide his aura was because other than using all his strength, as well as leveraging his tenet to manipulate several laws to make his attacks more lethal, Lex had activated his Lotus form.
The pricking sensation he felt on his face earlier was some kind of scan ability. Although Lex doubted that it had worked, being in his Lotus form allowed him to absorb any and all kinds of energy, not to mention it enhanced him to an immense degree.
Now if only he could simultaneously use his dragon form. But that wasn’t quite possible, because both abilities altered his base form. He could enter either, but not simultaneously because of the way they were dependent on his normal state.
Now if only Lex had some magical form of energy which could grant divine miracles and make the impossible possible… Oh wait, he did.
Using the divine energy from both his mask and his knife, Lex also activated his dragon form! Now even divine energy couldn’t make him keep both forms active in their maximum capacity, but he had managed to gain at least half the advantages of the dragon form.
That, combined with Lex’s enhanced state due to the Lotus form… Well, Lex was not exaggerating when he said that this would be his strongest possible attack.
Oh, did he mention that Lex had also summoned a massive array in front of himself! Any attack that passed through that array would have its strength magnified until the entire strength of the array was used up.
Ordinarily, Lex would not directly attack his guests like this without sufficient evidence. Sometimes, though, it was better to err on the side of caution.
The first to suffer Lex’s attack was the monkey. Lex had not attacked physically, but used the butter knife to shoot out a silver beam of sword intent. Monkey had raised some kind of barrier and had tried to retreat, but it was held still by Lex’s spirit sense. In a short period of time, it could go nowhere.
The barrier, whatever it was, crumbled as if it was nothing. The monkey’s eyes widened in shock, but there wasn’t much it could do. The beam cut into its chest, truly as if it was cutting through butter, and destroyed the monkey’s heart before shooting out of the back of his body. His body – his Heaven Immortal level body, which had been strengthened and toughed through a lifetime of training, and a system full of cheats – was completely fragile in front of Lex’s attack.
The destruction of a heart was not enough to truly cripple an Immortal, but the problem was that the beam had also torn through the monkey’s soul, and burned up a tremendous amount of spirit blood within the monkey as it passed through its body!
Since beasts relied heavily on their bloodline to control laws, burning its bloodline was as good as burning up the equivalent of tenets for a human. Ordinarily, just that would be enough to kill, or at the very least cripple, a human immortal.
The monkey fell over, its body a smoking husk, unable to move at all. One would think that such a feat would demonstrate how powerful Lex’s attack had been, yet Lex’s goal hadn’t been to cripple, but to kill! The fact that it survived meant that in the very last moments, its system must have done something to preserve its life.
The beam of sword intent hadn’t disappeared after shooting through the monkey either. After all, with its speed, not even a fraction of a second had passed since Lex attacked and it crippled the monkey. The beam turned in midair, and targeted the nearest beast: the snake.
Abject horror gripped the remaining three beasts as they hurriedly made preparations to block their attack, but it was not to be.
An overwhelming, overpowering aura encompassed them as Domination was unleashed in its full force, mixed in with the tyrannical aura of the mask Lex was wearing.
The three beasts were frozen still, not just by Lex’ spirit sense, but the sheer immensity of the aura and power weighing down on them. Against opponents like Kreel and Grimshaw, Lex may have felt enfeebled and even inadequate, yet that did not mean Lex was weak by any standards.
The three beasts used emergency items. One became made of steel, while another was surrounded by an entire structure, as if a stronghold had appeared around it. The eagle even managed to phase out of reality, turning illusory, and no longer restrained by anything physical and gaining immunity to most attacks.
It was a noble effort, but it was for naught. As far as Lex was concerned, this was their own fault. Knowingly or unknowingly, by provoking the Midnight Inn they had barged through the gates of hell and demanded a grim reaper take their lives. Well, he was here now, and instead of a scythe, he was using a butter knife to reap their lives.
