Chapter 1875 What was she going to do with this child?
The Crystal realm was in chaos – even more so than normal. Between the dark clouds, massive lightning strikes, sudden volcanic eruptions followed by a
sudden stillness that was absurdly abnormal, the people almost forgot that they had been at war for countless years.
They forgot they were used to facing death everyday, because facing death in the form of a physical enemy, and facing death in the form of total environmental collapse were two entirely different scenarios.
But as everyone would later learn, during the tribulations, not a single soul died. Of course, in the moment, it was hard to imagine that no one had died. So once the tribulations ended, and the unnatural stillness that caused everyone in the realm to freeze where they stood was over, the survivors breathed a sigh of relief. Hopefully, the worst of it was over.
Then, Lex, who had been asleep all this time, opened his eyes and everything went batshit crazy.
The Crystal realm had been fixed in its spot within the Void realm since its birth, anchored by the very laws that governed the universe. The had, coincidentally, completed its tribulation at the same time as Lex.
But what did that mean? Not much. It would merely begin the process through which the realm would be transported to its connected realm and then fuse with it. A short duration for such an event may take a few months while a long one would take a few decades.
Even accounting for any accidents, the transfer would not happen overnight because this was a fixed phenomenon, governed by the natural rules of the universe. Universal rules were the kind of things even Dao Lords had to follow. Or at least, that is how the script was supposed to go.
The universe had many Dao Lords, but only one Lex Williams, owner of the Midnight Inn, doer of absurd things, holder of luck so tremendously bad that often it turned good, or luck so unbelievably good that it often turned bad. If Bob, namer of awesome names, was present, he could have given a better introduction to Lex, but without him such titles would suffice.
As per Lex’s expectations, his breakthrough was followed by a unique phenomenon. How could there not be one? His body was partially made of Dao materials, it contained some of the most powerful bloodlines in the universe, was cultivated using a ridiculous cultivation technique, was closely connected to the universe since he became an immortal, and it was even being observed by the main Heaven itself.
When he became an Earth Immortal, a vision appeared of a humanoid figure whose eyes could be seen. The vision appeared in every realm connected to humans, which ultimately attracted a lot of attention.
Unbeknownst to Lex, he had attracted so much attention that his demise was imminent, so Nuwa hid him, and made his traces obscure. Now that his breakthrough occurred, and a phenomenon was triggered, the same veil was activated.
Lex raised a single eyebrow in curiosity as he saw a phenomenon of a humanoid figure appearing once more, this time exuding a royal aura. Yet before the vision could even form completely, it disappeared in front of his
eyes.
“That’s new,” he muttered.
There was no grand vision, no attracting unnecessary trouble, no causing universal wide enlightenment… or so he thought.
The natural phenomenon that his breakthrough caused was blocked by Nuwa’s remnant powers. The power of Time that suddenly leaked out of the loosened seal in his mind, however, was entirely unexpected and unaccounted for.
The Crystal realm, which was supposed to slowly transition to its new location, was covered in a massive time bubble which, for some odd reason, affected only the realm. As such, the realm slingshotted through the Void, ripping through any Void dwellers in the way, leaving behind a massive trail of devastation in its wake, the ripples of its passage spreading far and wide across the universe.
The realm was like a shooting star in the nightsky, leaving behind a bright trail and attracting all wandering eyes.
The inhabitants of the Crystal realm were suddenly pushed into the ground by a massive force, though the realm protected its natives, allowing them to escape unharmed. The Hellions, remnant Kraven, and even Lex were pressed firmly to the ground, entirely unable to move as they looked up at the sky.
Speaking of the sky, all the clouds in the realm had vanished – save the ones above Lex – revealing not the usual night sky of the realm, but a vision of the surrounding Void as they passed.
Confused and horrified Void dwellers appeared as vision in the night sky,
staring at the rocketing realm aghast. Other realms also appeared in the vision
from time to time before being left behind.
Someone saw a coffin being led through the Void by the skeleton of nine
dragons, while others saw the fracturing of reality.
What Lex, now the highest level cultivator in the realm, saw was much more terrifying! He saw the laws of time beginning to bubble wherever the realm passed as the energy leaking out of his seal affected the whole universe.
The rate of flow of time of the whole universe was being affected, and the rate at which the anomaly was spreading was extraordinary because, well, the anomalous energy itself sped up its flow of time.
Considering the fact that the Crystal realm was already being observed by many due to its sudden tribulation – and Lex’s attempted kidnapping – the forces of the universe immediately learned what was happening.
This was a situation hitherto unprecedented in the universe – whether it was the anomalous time energy spreading out, or the considerably sized realm jetting through the Void like a rocket ship.
The headmaster of the Chaotic-Gold Ventura branch, the one overseeing the Crystal realm, panicked when he saw the realm escaping. In his panic, unsure of what to do, he tried to use a Void ship to catch up to the realm and break in, yet when he touched the boundary of the realm, his ship exploded and he was
launched back.
Anticipating that such a thing might happen, he had already taken measures to protect himself, so he himself managed to survive.
Many were ready to laugh at the stunt that he had pulled, but as it turned out, his interference caused a small change in the anomalous time energy leaking
out of the Crystal realm.
Instead of spreading randomly and causing fluctuations in time, the energy transformed into a vision.
Inside the vision, Lex was sitting comfortably on a chesterfield sofa, wearing a maroon velvet coat and puffing on a pipe.
The vision was visible not just to the headmaster, but to all who had been
touched by the leaking energy, and all those observing the Crystal realm.
Somewhere, in the hidden depths of the universe, Nuwa sighed and rubbed her forehead. What was she going to do with this child?
