The Innkeeper - Chapter 2123 Rewards

Chapter 2123 Rewards
This time around, due to the sheer quantity of data transmitted, Lex stayed within a meditative stance for many hours. Even when he woke, Lex had merely absorbed the information, well aware that it would take him much longer to properly digest them.
Even if Regix did not give Lex any warning about using his own understanding of laws rather than someone else’s, Lex would not blindly rely on what Regix had taught him. His naturally suspicious attitude aside, he had too much exposure to incomparably powerful beings and understood that any interaction with them at all was far from as simple as it seemed on the surface.
From the moment he had arrived, Lex had not dropped his guard in the slightest, regardless of how harmless Regix felt. The mere fact that he could call Eclipse on a first name basis, as well as comment on her personal life was a clear indication of the level of power he represented.
“Now if there’s nothing else, you can go,” said Regix without holding back. Lex, too, was in a rush to leave. However, there was something he wanted to ask first – just in case.
“Sure, sure. I’ll head right back. By the way, while scanning my system, you wouldn’t happen to have installed a secret virus to be able to monitor or contact my system specifically, did you?”
This was something Lex learned from his interactions with Wu Kong, which was to always assume the target was up to no good.
Regix froze, and then suddenly opened up another black portal, forcefully sending Lex back. Even if he wanted to resist, Lex wouldn’t be able to, let alone he did not want to resist in the first place.
Once Lex left, Regix sighed, and the small orb transformed into the shape of a slightly chubby man who wiped his brow.
Then, after taking a look around the room, he summoned all the spiritual energy Lex’s spirit stones transmitted into the room, once again leaving the room filled with darkness.
“Very careful,” Regix said when he noticed that the spirit stones had undergone some kind of karmic cleansing, removing any links between it and Lex. Yet it did not matter to Regix at all, since he never intended to target Lex in any way. A Heaven Immortal could not help him, and Regix would not want that poor guy involved in his mess anyway.
Utilizing the meager amount of energy provided by Lex, and utilizing the materials of the furniture in the room, Regix created an incredibly, pathetically weak system. Its weakness did not matter, though, for it would slowly grow in strength. What did matter was that this time, his programming for the system had been a lot less casual – and it had a much more specific purpose than simply entertainment. He wouldn’t want to repeat his mistakes of the past. He sent the system out into the universe before once again morphing into an orb and allowing it to drop to the floor, as if it were a lifeless object. Even Regix himself did not know how many years it would be before something in that room changed.
Well, at least he had restored his connection to Lexus’ system. Once the system was fully repaired, he would be able to view all the challenges and ordeals Lex overcame, providing him with a fresh source of entertainment.
In the Midnight Inn, Lex returned to his place. It was truly too difficult to get used to the feeling of being disconnected, and being reconnected to the universe. The moment the shackles of his race and fate reconnected to him, Lex nearly toppled from the weight of the knowledge Regix had given him. Lex immediately realized that without the aid of being unshackled, it would take him much longer to digest the gains from his most recent misadventure. He sighed.
By now, he was too used to being kidnapped by random powerhouses. Counting this time, his meeting with Nuwa, the mysterious guy who showed up inside his room in the Inn, and a meeting he was pretty sure happened inside the Temple of Frozen Dawn that he couldn’t remember, that was at least four times.
The reason he considered it ‘at least’ was because it was entirely possible he had more meetings with powerhouses, but they had been erased from his memory. In fact, he was correct.
Back in Abaddon, his final vision of the past had been erased from his mind. Although it was merely a vision of a supposed past, the entities in that vision were so powerful that even a vision of them would alert them. Thus, it could technically count as Lex meeting them all.
He sighed. There wasn’t much he could do about it, except remember what he learned and move on. This meeting with Regix was different, though. For some reason, other than treating Regix as if he couldn’t be taken seriously, Lex felt
completely realxed in his presence.
Actually, it was because he was so relaxed that he was so suspicious of Regix. It crossed his mind that this could be the consequence of some kind of technique to get Lex to lower his guard.
That did not change that Lex felt completely safe in his presence, as if he could sense that Regix meant him no harm. Or that Regix, generally speaking, was a harmless person. Yet how could someone who knew how to hack systems be harmless?
Lex shook his head, and then focused on his system. Though he heard no notification sounds, there were some notifications waiting for him.
