The Innkeeper - Chapter 2143 Wedding Jitters II

Chapter 2143 Wedding Jitters II
The hours passed by in a blur to Pierre. He was originally doing very well in the Midnight Inn. He had a senior position right from the start, as well as respect and authority. Though his cultivation level was low, it would be only a matter of time before that rose. His future was supposed to be sunshine and rainbows. In fact, it was because he was so competent and well accomplished that he felt like it was his duty to look after Brenda. Unfortunately, trying to contain Brenda was like trying to trap a typhoon in a glass bottle – a work of fiction! Gerard noticed that as the hours drew closer to the event, Pierre grew even more tense. He tried to soothe Peirre, but nothing worked, so in the end he had to rely on his secret weapon, and called over Z.
Z was no longer the shy, introverted boy he once was. Now, he was a shy, introverted man who had to pretend to be strong and confident simply because he cared too much about the workers of the Inn, and had taken upon himself the role of the Inn’s big brother. He had a way of connecting with others that few others could replicate, including Gerard.
In fact, Gerard was one of the most reassuring people inside the entire Inn. It was just that Z was much more talented when it specifically came to certain types of personalities.
Thus, Gerard left everything inside Z’s capable hands.
Z looked at Pierre, who stood in front of a window, looking out at the incoming crowds. The wedding was in three days, and already 500 billion guests had entered the Inn from across the entire Midnight Realm. An opportunity to live in and enjoy the services of the Midnight Inn for free, even if it was for one day, was not something many would give up.
In fact, entire businesses had been set up across the Midnight realm with the sole focus of transporting guests to and from the Midnight Inn to their respective continents. Even the few Mythical beings of the Midnight Realm, such as the eight-legged horse, or the giant snake sleeping underneath the continent, arrived inside the Inn.
Z wasn’t quite sure of the history of the universe, but he had a feeling that very few mortals had a wedding as big as Pierre and Brenda – if any at all.
“You feeling tense?” Z asked directly.
Pierre looked from the window to Z, and nodded.
“Let me ask you another question. Do you trust the Innkeeper?”
Pierre was startled by that question.
“Of course!” he responded enthusiastically. “How could I ever doubt the Innkeeper?”
Z nodded, as if expecting such a response.
“Then, when the Innkeeper has your back, why are you worried?” he asked, causing him to pause. “Not just the Innkeeper – the rest of the Midnight Inn has your back too. So what are you afraid of? Look at your fiancee – she has the heart of a lion. I’ve heard she’s telling everyone that she will accept a red packet from the other guests, but she wants a red briefcase from the Innkeeper.”
Pierre didn’t know whether to be shocked at her audacity, or admire her courage… or feel pity for his own future.
“So, hold your head high. While you’re weak, we have your back. And when you grow strong, you can protect others too. I heard it was your original domineering attitude towards Brenda that caused her heart to melt – so how can you cower now?”
Pierre looked towards Z and wondered if he should tell him that the ‘domineering attitude’ was just him screaming at Brenda, trying to get her not to cause problems. But then he shook his head.
Z was right. He was not a coward. Since he had taken up this massive responsibility, he needed to grow strong enough until even the thought of Brenda’s remarkable ability to mess up no longer intimidated him. Until then, he could rely on the help of others from the Midnight Inn.
Watching as Pierre’s slumped posture slowly straightened out, Z nodded. Just as the great animes had foretold, the power of friendship cannot be beat. Pierre took a deep breath, and mentally prepared himself for the ordeals ahead. Alone, no one man could contain the walking disaster that was Brenda. But with the help of the entire Midnight Inn, as well as the all powerful Innkeeper, he may be able to keep her from accidentally ending the world one day.
“Thank you, I really needed to hear that,” said Pierre, looking towards Z. He really lived up to his reputation as the founder of the Starcloak house.
“Good, because it’ll be time for your bachelor party soon, and you can’t attend with such a mopey attitude. By the way, have you decided what you’re going to do for your party? Because the attendance list is quite big, and I don’t think Ash has any details listed down for it.”
Pierre trembled, and resisted the urge to fall down. This was the first time he was hearing of his own bachelor party, so how could he have prepared for it?
“I haven’t really planned anything. Do you have any ideas?” Pierre asked Z.
Z thought for a moment, and then nodded.
“On such short notice there’s only one thing I can think of. Perhaps, it’s time for the masses to experience what a true saga is,” he said, pulling out a picture of the Vinrealm Saga. It was the latest anime he had been watching.
Pierre, personally, had never really seen any anime, but at this point he couldn’t really complain.
“Excellent. In that case, I will think of the refreshments menu. A proper saga cannot be experienced without the accompanying snacks,” Pierre responded. Z did not say anything. How was Pierre to know that he was about to embark on a life altering journey of epic proportions, such that he would not even think of eating or drinking while on it? There was no point in warning him. Something like this could only be understood through first hand experience.
