The Innkeeper - Chapter 2146 Expense report

Chapter 2146 Expense report
The number of guests for the wedding had not yet reached a trillion, but it was well within the hundreds of billions. But even assuming that, at the end, there were a total of 1 trillion guests, it would be easy to guess the cost of the wedding.
If, per guest, Lex spent 1000 MP, then the final cost would be 1000 MT. Now, that was a cost Lex could easily bear, but that did not mean it was cheap. By no standard was it cheap. He could buy literal planets with that much money.
But what if… what if the cost per head was not 1000 MP? What if it was 10,000 MP? Or 100,000 MP?
Even then, it would fall short of the 1 million MT cost that he was looking at. To be specific, 1,323,897 MT! This was the expense before the wedding even began, and all the guests were yet to arrive.
Lex could not imagine how they had managed to rack up such an expense, so he looked at it. The bride and groom’s outfits which could allow mortals to survive an attack from a regular, level 1 Heaven Immortal were the top two most expensive items. They were a little unnecessary in Lex’s opinion, but they only cost a measly 5 MT due to how expensive the materials to make them were.
So where did the rest of the expenses come from?
After going through the list, Lex suddenly felt like he didn’t know how to react. He thought that Brenda – because this could only be Brenda’s doing – had spent all that money to hoard and accumulate wealth.
In truth, she had spent all of that money to make sure that all the attending guests had the best experience possible during the wedding! The food budget itself was absurd, mainly because the items being served couldn’t be magically conjured by the system.
No, she partnered with the Midnight Inns foremost restaurant, owned and run by Kenta Haru, the eld who was heir to a Celestial level organisation. With his help, she designed a menu that would cause everyone who ate the food to not only experience a great elevation in their cultivation, but also to heal their old injuries and soothe their spirits!
Of course, the upper limit was Earth Immortal, as the Midnight Inn couldn’t get access to cooking ingredients for them at the moment since the Inn was sealed. Also, Kenta had limited experience cooking for them, and could not provide the same standard of food for them, so the upper limit was Earth immortals.
But buying the ingredients was only the first step, albeit an expensive one, since some of them were bought from the Inn but others were bought from the many guests inside the Inn itself! Buying from guests obviously cost them a premium.
Then came the prep, which began days in advance. Not only were the workers cooking, they had to hire many of the guests too. The guests didn’t mind since they were getting paid for their help, not to mention it was a fun experience. Then, they prepared formal attire for all the guests, all of which were, naturally, not just regular clothes. Instead, they were all treasures that had various benefits!
As if that was not enough, because of the excessive number of guests coming in, new cities had to be built to accommodate them all. These cities were built alongside the theme of the wedding, and were not only meticulously designed, but were made using the most expensive materials available.
Then there was…
Lex paused, and read the expense report again just to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. Apparently, they had dug out an artificial sea. Not an artificial pond, but an artificial sea. A sea of what you ask?
No, why would anyone ask that because a sea was always water, right? Wrong.
Brenda had heard that yoghurt was good for digestion, and wanted to make sure that the guests could easily digest the rather rich food that would be served at the wedding, so they dug out an artificial sea which was then filled with fresh yoghurt which would be ready just in time for the wedding! Beyond that, the list was filled with other, regular stuff, like all services paid for each guest. There were plays prepared which told the guests the history of the Midnight Inn, and all it had been through. There was a fan-fiction competition going on during the wedding where guests could write a fan-fiction about Brenda’s and Pierre’s lovestory, and the best book would win 1 MT.
Lex sighed, and closed the list. Well, it seemed to him like she had spent all that money because she wanted to take care of the guests – not because she was trying to rip him off.
Whatever. He’d bear the cost for this wedding and treat it as a marketing budget or something.
Lex picked himself off the ground, his body finally recovered due to the rewards from the tribulation. He was in a bad condition, but he was well enough to do what needed to be done.
At this point, he should return to the Inn, but since he probably wouldn’t return to the Primordial Garden for a while, he decided to check up on Vinei first. Not that he didn’t trust the black phoenix which had spent its entire life plotting against its closest allies – no, he was just wondering when the phoenix planned on coming to the Inn.
As for the thought of the phoenix betraying him? Lex could only hope that Vinei had done that, because Lex was feeling slightly frustrated at the ever increasing bill, and wouldn’t mind blowing off some steam. Not to mention, Vinei should be a genuine Phoenix now, and no longer a Deity, which meant that if he plucked all his feathers, he’d have a whole lot of Phoenix feathers to use wherever he wanted.
Lex did not need to ask anyone where Vinei was. Now that he was at the height of his power, his mastery over karma could not be underestimated.
He casually picked out the karmic connection between himself and Vinci, and disappeared into the thread, traveling through it to his destination.
