Chapter 2169 Preparations to receive the inheritence
Lex sat down exactly where he stood, while the thirteen statues got to work, preparing the environment for Lex to receive the inheritance. Only the statue of Mother Nuwa remained still, mostly because she was unable to move at all. Though the statue was at the Dao Lord level, the burden of Nuwa’s inheritances made it so that she would never be able to move – not unless she became much stronger. That was kind of difficult since she herself did not actually have access to those inheritances to cultivate.
The thirteen statues formed a wide circle around Lex, and began to prepare the environment. They were inside the most central and secure part of the Temple, and yet as they joined hands the room was enveloped in another barrier. However, instead of protecting or hiding the room they were in, they seemed to connect it to some other place entirely, as if just that room alone had now become a part of a different realm.
Correspondingly, the laws within the room underwent a change, while a distilled and purified energy filled the room, replacing the spiritual energy that already filled it. Compared to normal spiritual energy, the most distinct feature of the energy that filled the room was that it was completely neutral, and lacked any and all distinguishing features.
Instead of making it more powerful, that actually made the energy considerably weaker than most other forms of energy. That did not mean that this purified energy was without a purpose.
The stone floor underneath Lex changed to a soft bed of grass, while an elaborate structure rose out of the ground all around Lex, made entirely of wood. If he were not lost in meditation, Lex would have been stunned to see the structure because he would see it immediately for what it actually was: a three dimensional formation!
Most formations were formed from an elaborate set up, using countless materials and an external source of energy. It took into account the surroundings as well as the materials used to build the formation. However, most of the time, formations were constructed in or on the ground.
However, in this instance, the wooden structure formed around Lex created a natural formation with the entire structure acting as the base of the formation itself. The air itself around Lex began to change, turning a light shade of green, surrounding Lex as if it was doing its best to protect him.
When Lex inhaled, it caused him to enter into a trance, causing him to enter into a state of cultivation. His mind automatically began to go over the enormity of the information Regix had given him, and began to make sense of it, while discarding what he could not make sense of.
Too much information was also not a good thing, and having his own understanding was infinitely better than relying on someone else’s. The excess information leaked out of his body like pollution, forming grains of black gunk coming out of the pores in his skin.
The thirteen statues exchanged looks, not expecting such a situation, but they did not stop their preparations.
After the environment stabilised, one of them lit a stick of incense beside Lex. This was originally not a part of the plan, but the incense would replenish Lex’s spirit. After all, the black gunk he was excreting were literal parts of his own spirit that had been contaminated by information far beyond his level – information that he could not digest.
The information that he could digest naturally became a part of his own understanding, and merged into his own strength.
But, the incense was not all they prepared. Instead, they built a furnace in the ground beneath Lex, so that the grass he sat on would always stay at a certain temperature. The increase in temperature caused a grey and black smoke to start coming out of Lex’s ears, speeding up the process by which he was recycling the information he had.
In the air around Lex, golden characters started to appear in the air, appearing and vanishing infinitely quick. If Lex were awake, he would have noticed that he could recognise some of the characters from the Book of Changes that he acquired from Abaddon.
The clothes on Lex’s body suddenly changed, and he appeared in a white, linen robe, free from all worldly burdens. Thirteen illusory figures appeared all around Lex, each one grooming his body in a certain way.
One brushed his hair in a way that would create perfect internal and external harmony in his body. Another painted characters on his skin using a brush and water only. One massaged his body to ensure that it would enter the perfect, most relaxed state, completely ready to receive the inheritance.
Another of the illusory figures placed a black cauldron of boiling water in front of Lex, the steam rising from it cleansing all the excreted gunk off his body, keeping him in a purified state.
By this point, Lex had no idea what was happening. He was in a deep meditative stance, with almost no sense of self awareness. It could not be helped. Although he began meditating on his own, in front of thirteen Dao Lords, it didn’t really matter what he wanted or didn’t want. Everything progressed according to their preparations.
One of the statues began to play the flute, filling the room with a harmonious sound that further eradicated negativity.
Upon being exposed to the music, Lex’s body became engulfed in black, roaring flames, but none of the Dao Lords did anything to stop it. They were cleaning his body of any curse that could use Lex as a medium to steal this inheritance – nothing more.
There were still a number of issues on Lex’s body, but as long as they wouldn’t interfere with this current task, they wouldn’t bother with it. After all, in comparison to Lex, they were tremendously powerful. But in truth, compared to the vast universe, they were feeble and without sufficient backing, hiding from being detected.
Thus, it was not wise of them to mindlessly interfere with all matters.
The thirteen did not stop. They continued to prepare Lex, and his surroundings, so that he could receive the Masterless technique. During the process, days seem to slip by without notice.
