The Invincible Full-Moon System - Chapter 1595 1595: Shade Crawlers (1)

Scavengers.
Initially, Rex assumed these Werewolves to be scavengers.
Not only because these two came out of nowhere—when the Voidal Prince was down, but also because there were only two of them. A pack of Werewolves could only be recognized as a pack if it consists of one Alpha and at least three Betas.
A Luna, A Female Alpha, Omega, and other occupations are a sign of privilege and prosperity.
Only a strong and capable pack could afford beyond the necessities.
Since there are only two of them, these two Werewolves aren’t a pack, more like partners.
A pact these two made until one or even both of them became an Alpha.
But there could be a different tradition between the Werewolves here and those in the Mortal Realm.
Regardless, as Rex continues to watch the battle, he realizes something.
They weren’t scavengers.
They didn’t come here because of the scent of the dead, like a shark drawn to blood.
Had that been the case, these two would only eat when nobody was around.
Instead, they were actively fighting the Voidal Monarch while the other feasted on the Voidal Prince.
No, they are not scavengers.
Rex looked at them working in harmony, harassing the Voidal Monarch while taking pieces of the Voidal Prince with burning, unsatiated hunger. Even as the dragon snake resurrected—they made sure to kill it again and resume their feast.
A sensation swelled inside as Rex reached for his chest with his hand.
He could feel a burning passion climbing inside.
It didn’t come from his sixth sense, not from the intuition he honed to sense danger.
It came from his seventh sense.
One that always reacted whenever he encountered another one of his own.
They are predators.
Growl!
Having had enough of this interruption, the Voidal Monarch landed a devastating punch squarely on one of the Werewolves, forcing his body to curve inward—and a growl to escape its mouth. Then, with savage precision, it grabbed the Werewolf by the neck and hauled him away.
Blood drew curving arcs in the air as the Werewolf bounced and skidded across the ground hard.
Despite that, he caught himself to a halt, clawing the ground like a rabid animal.
And in the next breath, he rushed back to the Voidal Monarch without a hint of fear or worry.
Only the burning hunger that blinded his eyes with rage.
A forceful pulse expanded from the Voidal Monarch like black fire.
It turned to face the Werewolf that was greedily feasting on the flesh of the dragon snake.
Being within the sight of a Voidal Monarch would scare anyone, but it doesn’t seem to concern him as he continued feasting unbothered. He looked detached from reality, too focused on feasting, but he was certainly attuned to his surroundings.
He’d dodge and react to any threat, even while doing this.
Angered, the Voidal Monarch eerily grew taller and slender, turning into an obelisk of darkness.
From its elongated body, a loud, collective hisses resounded, sending a forceful soundwave and malice, but it barely stopped the Werewolf from shoving flesh after flesh into his mouth. But that was not the end, as hundreds or even thousands of pairs of reptilian eyes appeared within its body.
A move that made the feasting Werewolf look up, sensing an incredible danger.
Growl!
Instinctively, the charging Werewolf growled, pulling the Voidal Monarch’s attention to him.
From the looks of it, the growl was infused with something.
One that made the Voidal Monarch fixated on him.
Just then, the Voidal Monarch roared with its astral voice as thousands of black snakes came pouring out of its body like a tsunami. All of them were the size of two adult anacondas merged into one animal, slithering straight toward the charging Werewolf.
As the clash drew near, the black snakes hummed with power and began to slither through the air.
Flying snakes, and their bodies turned into pure voidal energy.
Kaboom!
Rex wasn’t able to see the aftermath as the collision blasted powerfully, sending him hurling away like a ragdoll, bouncing across the ground—and even sending him skidding out of the storm. He dug his claws into the soil and caught himself before looking up.
Beside him was Kraken.
He managed to grab Kraken in time before being hurled away.
Now that the coast was clear, Kraken returned back inside, seeping back into Rex’s body.
Ahead, the inside of the dark smoke flashed with a silvery hue.
It happened several times, showing that the charging Werewolf was still holding his ground.
“Incredible…” He praised. “How are they that strong? And what are they doing here?”
Since those two came out of nowhere, Rex could only assume that they had some sort of fierce vendetta against the Voidal Monarch. Another plausible reason other than that would be their need to eat—driven by their anger, they dared to attack even a being close to the Voidal Monarch.
Regardless, this was a good development.
Lorayah City would be safe, unless a bad variable happened.
<Notice: Skill analysis complete!>
<Four skills had been recorded and analyzed!>
<Checking the user’s constitution…>
<One skill is incompatible with the user’s constitution!>
<Two skills have a high requirement for usage and can’t be learned at the user’s current state!>
<One skill is compatible!>
<Obtained skill: Voidal Moonflow Acceleration!>
Rex looked at the notifications in surprise.
He forgot that the System has this kind of ability, allowing him to copy compatible skills.
It hadn’t activated in a long time since his strength had grown so much that most of the skills he came across were either too weak to be worth learning or simply incompatible with him. Even the rare ones, the powerful ones, didn’t align with his nature.
At this point, he figured the only skills he was still able to copy would be those of other Werewolves.
Particularly, their Moon Abilities.
But his last substantial battle against the Werewolves was against Prince Alaric and Princess Selene.
Both mainly used abilities that came from another Full Moon.
And neither has something that could be copied and altered to suit his own King Marks.
However, those two Werewolves are certainly strong enough to give him something.
Realizing he was now outside the Voidal Monarch’s radius, Rex quickly reverted to his Human form—wary that Princess Davina might still be somewhere in the sky, overseeing what was happening below. He was about to head back to the village, planning to use this borrowed time to free Kaelthar and bring him to safety, when his eyes suddenly snapped to the side.
Something was approaching, and it was fast.
Hiss!!
A black snake shot towards him with extreme speed.
Rex tried to use his new skill, which activated immediately.
Even though it was brief, Rex read the description of the skill to know what it could do.
Surprisingly enough, this skill was compatible with him only when Kraken was inside him—and granted him the One with the Rift innate ability. Since the skill requires voidal energy—on top of his own life energy, it created this unique requirement.
Until he could address this flaw, he would need Kraken.
Then again, it wasn’t an immediate problem.
Swish!
The Voidal Moonflow Acceleration granted him a single, instantaneous burst of movement—perfect for either offense or defense. In theory, it should have allowed him to evade a surprise attack, like the one the black snake was launching on him right now.
So, Rex decided to try it out.
His entire body hummed with a mixture of opposite energy.
Life energy and voidal energy are two opposing forces that cann’t be merged together.
Opposites.
Forcing them to merge would only cause a destructive result, either an explosion or a savage mutation that would eventually lead to death. Many in the Spirit Realm knew this fact and are actively advising others not to attempt it for the sake of a breakthrough.
In some parts of the empire, people attempting this would even be arrested or, worse, executed.
Not only will the effect be a loss for everybody, but tampering with life energy is ill-sighted.
Something so pure and robust shouldn’t be tainted with the likes of voidal energy.
But the Voidal Moonflow Acceleration provided another path.
Once the life energy and voidal energy converged within Rex’s body, the two forces clashed violently, resisting each other with raw, unbridled intensity. And that the exact moment before they touched, the flow of moonlight—a delicate, glowing thread—was slipped in.
It acted as a separation layer.
And because of it, the savage mutation or explosion didn’t occur.
Rather, it contained the effect of having both forces so close to converging.
An explosive force that was gathered and controlled, allowing Rex to manipulate it as he wished.
Gradually, the friction between the two energies created this constant sound like a humming engine.
And when it stopped, the impact happened.
Boom!
Rex dodged the black snake with a burst of speed, side-stepping out of the way.
He was about to look back at the dark smoke, expecting more of these black snakes to come at him.
But instead, the black snake that he dodged made a sharp turn.
It turned around and blasted at Rex again like a bullet, but this time, it came from behind.
As if its fangs weren’t enough, the tip of a black sword emerged from the snake’s mouth.
Like its fangs, the sword also dripped with venom.
Rex was too late to react, so he flexed his muscles to take the hit regardless of the venom.
He has the System to deal with that.
Hiss!
Suddenly, a hand seized the black snake’s head just before the blade’s tip could pierce Rex, halting it in mid-air. For a moment, Rex was stunned. He blinked, then turned—his eyes widening in surprise as he saw one of the Werewolves gripping the creature firmly.
It was the Werewolf who had been engaging the Voidal Monarch earlier.
Rex didn’t sense him coming, but he managed to get so close.
At that moment, the Werewolf looked down at Rex with an unreadable expression.
Hand was still gripping the black snake tightly.
Rex couldn’t tell what he was thinking.
Nothing about this Werewolf seemed to indicate anything that he was feeling or thinking.
The Werewolf just stood there motionless, eyes locked on Rex.
Even then, Rex managed to find his voice.
“You… You saved me?”
At first, Rex assumed the two Werewolves had come seeking vengeance against the Voidal Monarch.
It was the most obvious reason to explain the situation.
But now, with the Werewolf standing beside him, even protected him from the black snake, there seemed to be something else—another reason they had attacked the Voidal Monarch and the dragon snake. One that made them attack unprovoked.
Perhaps that other reason was Rex himself.
After all, there was no reason for the Werewolf to help him like this suddenly.
Instead of answering, the Werewolf crushed the black snake’s head with his bare hand.
Blood splattered everywhere, but he didn’t care.
Then, his eyes narrowed as he leaned forward a little, sniffing the air as if he was smelling Rex.
Is he… sniffing me?
Rex stayed perfectly still as the Werewolf sniffed him, thoroughly inspecting him—almost as if trying to determine whether he was kin or enemy. When the creature finally leaned back, a faint frown formed on his face—a subtle shift, but enough to reveal that something had been decided.
A faint growl escaped his mouth before he disappeared once again.
His body blended into the Black Rift.
Rex looked back at the dark smoke, assuming that the Werewolf had returned to help his partner again.
Not a word came out of that Werewolf’s mouth, only a growl.
It could be that the Werewolf couldn’t speak, only grunt.
But Rex doubted that a strong entity like that couldn’t communicate as even Voidal Monsters could.
Rex tilted his head, confused.
“What was that about…?”
“It’s a Shade Crawler. You’ve met a Shade Crawler.”
Abras approached from behind.
He also saw what Rex saw and recognized what it was almost instantly.
Rex turned towards him.
“A Shade Crawler? What’s that?”
“I’m not so sure either, but I heard they were survivors. Of what, I do not know.”
“Huh, Interesting…”
