The Invincible Full-Moon System - Chapter 1597 1597: Argument and Slip-up

Rex put down his arms.
It was done.
His Minow Law of Misdirection was able to cancel the Dream Market.
Not a struggle either.
Since the Dream Market was a Fragmented Spirit Genesis, nobody was constantly sustaining it.
It was easier to cancel it because of that.
Rex sat on his knees, breathing heavily as his arms trembled—waiting for Kaelthar to wake up so that he could talk about finding Devo. He remained stationary, focusing all his energy on healing the open wounds marring his body.
Once he was feeling better, he opened his inventory.
He checked the items he got from killing the Voidal Prince earlier.
…
<Law Clarity>
Item Rank: Divine (Twelfth-rank)
A single-use item that would permanently enhance the power of a Law, but can only be used once per Law. The stronger the targeted Law, the weaker the effect, and it becomes completely ineffective for any Major Law.
<Matter of Monarch>
Item Rank: Divine (Twelfth-rank)
Description: An incredibly powerful material that was created from a big piece of a Voidal Monarch’s heart and blood. It has unmatched enhancement properties, perfect for forging combat gear. Even the residue from this material could be used to strengthen the body or Soul Artifacts.
…
Rex read the description of the two items attentively.
It was his first time obtaining a Divine-rank item, and he had managed to get two at once.
Law Clarity is certainly the one that caught his attention the most.
Frankly, the Minor Law of Misdirection proved to be more useful—than the Minor Law of Inevitability that he got from the Red Dawn of Kaiser. It could be used in both combat and non-combat situations—which made a lot of things convenient.
On the other hand, the Minor Law of Inevitability could only work in combat situations.
It’s a powerful combat-related Law, but it has limited use.
Giving the Law Clarity to the Minor Law of Misdirection is the most sensible thing to do.
However, Rex was tempted to use it on the Law of Foresight.
I can’t make the Mask of the Banished Eclipse stronger for the sake of Nivellen, but enhancing the Law related to it shouldn’t be a problem, right? Since I’m enhancing the Law of Foresight, not the very mask itself, Nivellen shouldn’t be burdened.
Rex would need to ask the System about that.
But he could do it later when he has time to use the Law Clarity item.
Now, he wanted to use the Matter of Monarch item.
Rex summoned the item from the inventory.
He didn’t know what to expect, but what appeared in front of him was a marble-sized black pill that had a concentration of voidal energy unlike any other. It was a condensed form of something so massively rich of voidal energy.
As it is right now, the black-color of the pill seemed to be sucking the darkness around the chamber.
It made the place darker.
So much so that the light from the trapdoor above him was now weaker because of it.
Rex would’ve lost Kaelthar from his sight if he were a few steps away.
Not to mention, it was sizzling with a chilling aura that seeped into the bones.
Nodding his head, Rex reached his hand forward and pinched the black pill with two fingers.
Almost immediately, he could feel how dense it was from how unnatural the weight was—it was heavy despite its small size. It even dragged Rex’s hand downward, which was rare for someone with his level of immense physical strength.
Only a few items could be considered heavy for Rex.
And this black pill was one of them.
Rex placed it before his face, inspecting the black pill with great interest.
“A material that has incredible enhancement properties, perfect to enhance combat gears,” He uttered, then a smirk crept to his face. “A Werewolf’s entire body is a weapon, and even if the process is hard on the body, I should be able to take it. I wonder if it could enhance my body instead of a gear.”
Not even wasting a single second, Rex lifted the black pill and opened his mouth.
He didn’t put the black pill inside his mouth and eat it.
That’s going to be too risky.
Instead, he slowly siphoned the black pill’s aura into his body, allowing it to work on him slowly.
Swoosh!
As expected, it was excruciating.
Having immense voidal energy, though subdued due to the condensation, infiltrating his body and even making changes along the way was incredibly painful. One that pushed past Rex’s pain tolerance, as the pain from the gradual penalty was still persistent.
Even though he tried his hardest to endure it, he couldn’t.
“Kahkk!”
Rex leaned forward, blood pouring out of his mouth as he forsaken the process for a brief moment.
<Absorption process has stopped!>
<The Sable Physique acquisition: 2,15% / 100%>
<It is strongly advised to absorb no more than 50% of the Matter of Monarch item to enhance the body, as exceeding this threshold enters dangerously unstable territory.>
Rex spat blood to the side.
His willpower never wavered during the absorption process.
No doubt in his mind that he’ll be able to absorb the Matter of Monarch item, but his mind wasn’t the only thing that dictated the end result. Though his mind was still robust, his body was damaged beyond measure; it rebelled and gave up abruptly.
Will absorbing only 50% of the Matter of Monarch item give me the Sable Physique?
<No, the user will need to absorb a bit more than advised.>
In that case, I’ll take the risk. But I’ll do it slowly.
Rex was naturally planning on completing the absorption process and gaining the Sable Physique.
He didn’t know exactly what it was, but he was certain it was something extraordinary—after all, the item was forged from a fragment of a Voidal Monarch’s heart—and blood. That alone was a guarantee that the Sable Physique is extremely powerful.
No chance that he would pass up on a possible, powerful skill.
But he’d do it slowly.
Even with his robust physique and regeneration, Rex could feel the stinging pain in his chest.
One that persisted even when his wounds were healed.
He didn’t want any complications, so he’d go about this slowly.
Breathing steadily, Rex sat down and stared at Kaelthar ahead.
A little bit more and he’d wake up.
Rex could see that the foreign life energy that was influencing him was about to disappear for good.
Once it disappeared, Kaelthar should wake up.
“Sigh… That was way too close,” Rex muttered, propping himself up with one arm behind him—while the other rested over his knee. “I got lucky thanks to those Shade Crawlers. If not for them, I’d be facing the Voidal Monarch directly.”
Rex shook his head, not wanting to think of what he’d do if he had to face the Voidal Monarch.
He had felt this kind of crisis before.
Back in the Mortal Realm, he also felt like this when Dravitar shot him out of the sky.
If he had faced Dravitar back then, he would’ve lost—exactly as if he had faced the Voidal Monarch.
As he mumbled, a black goo seeped out of his body.
Kraken came out and looked at Rex.
Even though he has no face, Rex could feel the dissatisfaction radiating from him.
Rawr!
“I mean it’s also because of you.”
Rawr!
“Of course I didn’t forget about your brave act, how could I? You scared a monarch!”
Kraken crossed his tentacle arms and nodded, pleased with himself.
Recalling that moment when Kraken appeared and spooked the Voidal Monarch, Rex frowned as that’s an unnatural reaction, “Even if it had a face, it was covered by the mask it was wearing. But I’m quite sure that it was surprised. Something about Kraken surprised him, but what?”
“Is the Three-faced Leecher a Voidal Knight under this Voidal Monarch?” He wandered.
Considering how the Voidal Monsters operate, this was a possibility.
But even if that was the case, the surprise was not warranted.
Had the Three-faced Leecher really been the Voidal Monarch’s underling, then the Voidal Monarch should have sensed its death back in the Arcalen House’s territory. And if it still had a connection to Kraken, it would’ve known that Kraken had been turned into a member of the Silverstar Pack.
A transformation that must’ve severed their bond by now.
So, Rex couldn’t understand what the Voidal Monarch was surprised by.
Just as he was thinking, a figure landed behind him.
Rex didn’t need to turn to know who it was.
“Leave. I have something important to talk to this man.”
Princess Davina frowned.
She didn’t want to get involved, but she became curious since Rex risked his life for this man.
But she realized that coming here may have been a mistake.
Rex’s tone was colder than before, a lot colder than it was when they arrived near Lorayah Village.
“Are you upset with me? I was under the impression—we had already settled our accounts.” Princess Davina said, remaining a safe distance away from Rex. “You said it earlier. We’re even. And you must understand why I did what I did.”
Hearing this, Rex’s eyes widened slightly.
I slipped up. She didn’t know that it was me back then.
Rex rubbed his temples, realizing that he had gotten carried away by his emotions.
He said that because he had once saved Princess Davina from a sneak attack—and now she had returned the favor by blocking that spiteful tail whip from the dragon snake. But back then, Rex had been in his Werewolf form, so she hadn’t recognized him.
It was an honest slip-up.
But Rex didn’t linger on that mistake, as that would make it obvious.
“Have I ever forced you to do anything you don’t want to?” Rex asked, his gaze fixed ahead, not even turning to look at Princess Davina. “No—I never have. But earlier, you tried taking me away, even after I told you not to. Tell me… How do you think I’m supposed to take that?”
Princess Davina’s face hardened.
She did it at a whim.
She didn’t think it through as Rex’s life took priority.
“You should’ve taken it well. If nothing else, it shows that despite my intention from the start, I cared for you—even a little,” She answered, her voice calm but unwavering. “After all, weren’t you the one who said you wanted me? Or was that a lie? Was your intention from the start simply to use the status I could give… to reach Sky City?”
Rex snorted and smiled, showing his canine as he turned to look at Princess Davina for the first time.
He looked at her as if he could see through her.
“Care about me? Please…” He gave her a side-eye, knowing full well that it was a blatant lie. “All you care about is your image. You don’t want people to know your fiancé died not long after being given the title of knight. It will be a stain on your flawless reputation.”
Princess Davina didn’t refute that claim.
She couldn’t.
Clearly, Rex could read her mind.
From the little time they spent together, he was able to know how her thought processes worked.
And refuting it would only make her look ridiculous.
As the awkward silence hung in the air, a sudden deep gasp pulled their attention.
Kaelthar inhaled deeply, his eyes darting left and right to make sense of what was happening.
Then, his eyes fixed on Rex.
“You… You cancelled the Dream Market?”
He asked incredulously, knowing that it was Duke Lorcan’s trusted aide who cast the Dream Market.
It was a Fragmented Spirit Genesis, but still strong.
Rex stood up and cracked his neck, stretching his sore body before he approached.
He stopped before Kaelthar, his gleaming crimson eyes bearing down on him.
Bad intent could be seen clearly behind this pair of rubies.
Rex placed a hand on Kaelthar’s shoulder and leaned toward him, smiling the brightest smile.
“You’re going to do exactly what I told you. I’m done playing games now.”
