The Invincible Full-Moon System - Chapter 1630: Intercepted

Chapter 1630: Intercepted
From the heat coming from Rex, the captain knew exactly what rank he was.
He’s merely a Master Immortal Spirit rank.
Even though she was of the same rank, she couldn’t fight the Special Voidal Knight directly—the physical gap between Spirits and Voidal Monsters was that far apart. It would take powerful equipment as well as artifacts to eliminate that gap, both of which the captain didn’t possess.
So, seeing Rex going straight at the Special Voidal Knight was simply reckless.
Rex managed to tackle the Special Voidal Knight before the two disappeared from sight.
A lush-green mound was in the way, barring the captain from assessing the situation.
“I need to help him,” She leaped down and began sprinting towards where Rex and the Special Voidal Knight were. “He’s strong enough to tackle the serpent. He must be gifted in strength and thought that he could even match a Special Voidal Knight. Soon enough, he’ll realize that he was wrong, and I have to be there to aid him then.”
Since Rex seemed capable, the captain couldn’t lose him.
She didn’t know where he came from, but now that he was here, she could use a hand.
Rumble!
As she sprinted, the ground underneath her quaked.
Expecting something bad was happen, the captain picked up her pace, coming out of the formation and hacking the Voidal Monsters that tried to get in her way. Her legs blurred underneath her from how fast she was going, almost like her life depended on it.
But in this case, her life did depend on it.
Other than her, there was only one more person who could help her fight the Special Voidal Knight.
Her plan was to eliminate the horde first while the other captain held off the serpent.
Eventually, once the bulk of the monsters were cleared, the two of them, along with their soldiers that survived the bout, would surround and finish off the serpent. Still, the risk remained high as the soldiers were dropping fast.
Had it not been for Rex, the bubble would certainly be overrun.
So, she can’t lose another pair of helping hands.
Boom!
Upon nearing the lush mound, the captain stopped as a powerful shockwave rattled the ground again.
A large portion of the mound’s peak had been torn away.
She clamped her back against the mound, avoiding the falling boulders.
“His aura is overwhelming the Special Voidal Knight’s? Really?” She muttered inwardly in shock.
Feeling first-hand how strong the serpent was, the captain couldn’t believe that Rex was able to not only match, but also overwhelm its aura. It was an impeccable feat. Even the other captain, who was now in tattered armor and riddled with wounds, was surprised.
Both of their shocked eyes met for a second in sheer disbelief.
Crack!!
A violent, thunderous bone-snapping crack reverberated through the air.
It was so loud and gnarly that both captains covered their ears.
Once they opened their eyes again and recovered, a shadow loomed over them, darkening the area around the mound. Instinctively, both of them looked up and saw a massive shadow falling down from the sky, and it crashed meters away from them.
Boom!
Initially, they thought it was a boulder, but it wasn’t.
Both of their eyes flew wide open, nearly bulging out of their sockets, as they came to realize that the massive shadow wasn’t a boulder—it was the severed head of the Special Voidal Knight instead. From the jagged tear around its neck, it seemed to have its head ripped off its body.
And from its jaws open in a frozen hiss, it was clear that it had fought with all its might before killed.
Just like that, a powerful Special Voidal Knight that threatened the destruction of the bubble was taken out. Neither the captains didn’t even need to participate in the fight—the figure who came out of nowhere had taken care of it alone.
Before the two could snap from their dazes, a figure landed right in front of them.
It was Rex.
He leaped over the mound and landed meters away from the captains with a rough thud.
Seeing him properly, the captains swallowed harshly.
Rex was towering before them, almost reaching eight feet tall with burning ruby eyes—that seemed to only be interested in blood and violence. His furs were slicked from blood, and his sharp, bloody fangs poked out menacingly.
Some Demonic Spirits were blessed with a fearsome appearance, but none like Rex right now.
Ignoring their fearful look, Rex approached the nearest captain.
He extended his claws toward her and hauled her off the ground by her armor—The sharpened tips of his claws pierced through the steel plate near her neck as if it were bare flesh. So easy that the captain felt like she was naked, not wearing armor at all.
Drawing her close until their faces nearly touched, he growled, “Where’s the other serpent?”
Hearing this, the captain blinked, but no words came out of her mouth.
She didn’t know what Rex was talking about.
“There should be one more! Where’s the last one?!” Rex growled again, eyes blazing with urgency.
Just then, the other captain on the side raised his gaze and stepped forward.
“I… I know where the other one was.”
“Hmm?”
Rex let go of the captain and walked towards him.
“Say it.”
“I saw the other Special Voidal Knight earlier, but it went past our bubble alone. I think it was heading to the nearby bubble, the Xintarin Bubble. Go north and cross the river, and you’ll see it. If you want, I can lead you to it. But I say you don’t need to help them. It’s a bubble full of crim—”
Not even waiting for the captain to finish, Rex already leaped away.
He rushed out of the bubble and instantly headed toward the Xintarin Bubble.
Considering the amount of voidal monsters that gathered in this bubble, he thought both Special Voidal Knights were here, but he was wrong. Why did it separate from the others alone? Is it because of what Haxel did to it? No. Haxel severed their connection by feeding them Berserkin Berries. It shouldn’t pass to ransack a bubble full of people and life energy.’
Regardless of what was going on, Rex went on all fours and picked up his pace, running like a beast.
If what the other captain said was true, then the last Special Voidal Knight—had a fifteen-minute lead start compared to him. Even a moment alone could result in hundreds of casualties, and Rex feared that the Xintarin Bubble might already be on the brink of annihilation.
Even then, he needs to see it for himself and save those who still survived.
Along the way, Rex glanced down at his body and realized that he was bigger than normal.
He wasn’t focused earlier, but he towered over those two captains.
It must be the side effect of devouring flesh.
Just as the System explained to him before, devouring flesh started and accelerated his transformation to traditional Werewolf physiology. One of the side effects was the enhancement of his physical weapon, including claws, fangs, and even muscle density.
Surely, his body was nourished by the flesh, and he was now physically stronger.
Splash!
Rex blitzed through the rocky river with lightning-fast speed.
He repeatedly told the System to scan ahead to locate the Xintarin Bubble as quickly as possible.
It should be somewhere around here.
Glancing left and eyes, Rex noted the dead woods dotted with the occasional Voidal Monster, but none came from the White Mask. He was searching for any trace of the Xintarin Bubble, as the captain had implied it wasn’t far earlier.
Soon enough, his eyes lit up at the sight of a notification in the distance.
<Xintarin Bubble: 411,559 lives.>
Almost instantly, he made a sharp turn and headed straight to where the notification was hovering.
Rex moved through the dead forest with speed, a shadow that cuts through distance with unbelievable and precise steps. As soon as he emerged from the dead wood territory, his eyes fixed on a massive, but weathered bubble ahead.
It was the Xintarin Bubble, and as expected, it was already breached.
Even the number of lives was dropping fast.
Seconds ago, it started at 411,000, and now, it has gone down to 361,000.
As soon as he entered the bubble and went ahead of the sweeping smoke of the Black Rift, he looked up to find a broken fang piercing the sky. Its base is veiled in toxic ash and swirling dust, in a constant state of shift and chaos.
Halfway up, clouds of shimmering smoke obscure most of the middle.
It gave the illusion that this broken fang, this hill, disappears into the void.
Occasional rockslides or explosions could be seen at the base and middle sections.
And on the right corner of the hill, Rex found his target.
Just as expected, the Special Voidal Knight was already coiling upwards, causing as much destruction it could possibly do. Homes around the foothills were completely destroyed already, leaving only a few lucky parts that survived the onslaught.
Now, the Special Voidal Knight sets its eyes upward.
Rex didn’t know how the Xintarin Bubble worked, but most people should be above the low clouds.
Boom!
Knowing that time was of the essence, Rex flared his aura once again, fueling every part of his body with as much life energy as he could possibly gathered. His Red Dawn of Kaiser, along with his Aegis of Moon Sentinel, glowed brilliantly with power.
Once he was ready, he cracked the ground underneath him as he launched himself forward.
He launched himself straight at the Special Voidal Knight.
Midway, heat began to permeate throughout his chest and spread.
Rex frowned, but before he could glance down at his chest to see what it was, an invisible force yanked him down from the sky and slammed him into the ground. He was carried by the momentum and skidded across the earth until he crashed against the foothill.
Crash!
“Arghh…”
A rough groan tore from his throat as he struggled to recover from the impact.
He didn’t understand what happened, and his mind was all over the place right now—reeling.
“Hey, man. Are you okay?”
Hearing a voice calling him, Rex looked up and saw a young man looking down on him.
One of the bubble’s people, certainly, a beggar from his clothes alone.
Blinking, Rex snapped out of his daze and immediately reached for his chest.
His hand was stung by a searing heat that was capable of hurting even someone with his durability.
“I think you should take that off,” The young man nudged at the armor. “Or you’ll burn to death.”
Rex finally glanced down and noticed the winged star crest on his chest plate glowing intensely, very bright; it was starting to steam. He froze, stunned, unsure of what it meant—until instinct kicked in and he scanned it with the System.
As soon as he did and read the notification, his eyes flew wide in absolute shock.
Just then, the crest emitted a sharp, vacuum-like sound, rising with each second until it abruptly stopped.
Boom!
Before he could react, the crest exploded with a blast of energy.
It was a violent blast that pointed forward, sending Rex hurling away in the opposite direction, rolling and crashing across the ground until his back met with the bubble hard. Upon impact, the cracks on it spread further, causing more of the Black Rift to pour in.
He felt the air was knocked out of his lungs as he bounced and collapsed to the ground.
Once he got up to his knees, a pair of emerald wings suddenly sprouted behind him.
Rex looked at them with gritted teeth as the wings folded onto him, restraining him from moving.
Not stopping at that, the star shards embedded inside the armor he was wearing began to slowly fall to the ground, turning into beams that anchored the wings onto the ground. Once the process came to its conclusion, Rex couldn’t move at all.
In that moment, rage swelled inside him rapidly like boiling water filling a glass.
“DAVINA!!”
