The Invincible Full-Moon System - Chapter 1698: It’s Time to Run

Chapter 1698: It’s Time to Run
’Rex is fighting up there…’
’He’s still getting stronger, getting further and further away from us.’
’I simply can’t rely on him all the time. I need to grow stronger on my own. I need to take risks!’
Boom!
Colliding with Sven made everything clearer than it has ever been.
Adhara could feel the enormous strength inside Sven’s body—that wouldn’t budge no matter how hard she tried. Even as she exerted everything she had right now, all she could manage to do was match Sven for a second.
He was simply too strong.
Perhaps this was how despairingly strong Rex was if he ever stood on the opposite side.
’I’m weak,’ Adhara gritted her teeth as she was being overpowered. ’Outside of Dargena City—nobody really felt the weight of the Female Alpha. All respect and fear towards me was earned because of the Silverstar Pack’s name. Even Kyran… He gained more respect outside than I did.’
<Notice: the Female Alpha’s berserk stat is increasing!>
’I hate it. I hate not being able to reach my full potential.’
<Notice: the Female Alpha’s berserk stat has reached the first threshold!>
’I want to become stronger…’
<Notice: the Female Alpha has gone berserk!>
Sven pushed harder.
Not a single Werewolf in this era could overpower him in a contest of strength.
And it doesn’t matter how much Adhara tries.
In the end, it would be futile.
But his gaze sharpened when he sensed a change in the way Adhara was looking at him.
Despite the haze from the clash of their energies, Sven could see the destructive determination behind her eyes. And before he could snap out of his daze, Adhara swerved down and struck Sven from below with a devastating rising knee.
No matter how strong Sven was as a Werewolf, he was, in the end of the day, a mere beast.
Adhara was not.
She’s both a beast and a human, and that gave her a natural advantage.
Bam!
It was heavy.
Her rising knee barely tilted Sven’s muzzle upward, but it was enough time for her to step on his chest.
Creating a mini explosion underneath her feet, Adhara blasted away to make a distance.
Sven quickly followed.
But his senses flared as he stepped on a ring of purple fire.
Boom!
Possessing the innate advantages of a Werewolf would have multiplied by two—Sven reacted insanely fast. He only needed a fraction of a second to realize the danger—and move. He narrowly avoided the full explosion by leaping to the side, but violet explosions kept on happening with every step he took, forcing him into a relentless dance of motion.
Sven darted left and right as the earth seemed determined to swallow him whole.
Even so, he knew that ending Adhara would make this stop.
In a burst of motion, Sven lunged at Adhara again—this time from behind.
Like earlier, Adhara’s body turned translucent as she intended to avoid the attack.
She sensed the danger and immediately activated her bloodline.
And as a counter to her power, Sven unleashed a soundwave to a roar that disrupted her state.
It had always worked before, and there’s no point to stop using it.
Just as his claws were about to reach Adhara—his eyes sparkled at the sight of a small creature coiling around her flaming body that was staring straight at him. It was then, this creature hissed and lunged at Sven—growing bigger and bigger by the moment.
Adhara glanced over her shoulder and smiled.
She was nowhere near as fast as Sven, so she summoned her spirit to watch her back.
And it worked.
Sven hacked his claws, but the flaming serpent dodged his attack and coiled around his arm.
Swoosh!
It burned with violent flames, strong enough to melt a ninth-rank realm Awakened’s arm.
But that was nothing for Sven.
Regardless, burning his arm wasn’t Adhara’s plan.
Sven grabbed the spirit serpent forcefully, digging his claws into its frail, scaled skin, but the moment he did, his eyes widened and snapped to the side. A pair of burning eyes appeared from below—Adhara was already upon him.
And from how his expression contorted, he was clearly shocked.
Splash!
Adhara concentrated her fire element onto the tip of her claws and thrust forward.
Her claws pierced through, shallow, but it’s enough.
Flames fired into Sven’s body, disrupting the moonlight energy flow inside.
It spread throughout Sven’s energy channels like an unyielding corruption, pulsed in violent waves—his veins flared with a vivid glow visible beneath his skin. Above his head, the flaming number flickered and dropped to five.
A clear sign that Adhara was a step closer to getting what she wanted.
Despite the steep drop, Adhara’s mind couldn’t comprehend what happened properly.
She was fully immersed in the burning anger inside her.
ROAR!
In a rampage, Sven unleashed a roar and slammed both fists into the ground.
Every inch of the ground within a mile radius collapsed.
Adhara’s balance was thrown into a messy rhythm, but her focus never waved, never shaken from the real prize of this battle. She summoned her serpent spirit again and sent it forth straight to Sven’s face, covering his vision.
At that same moment, her aura disappeared.
No, rather, it grew lighter.
Hiss!!
Bravely, the violet serpent opened its maw and avoided an attack from Sven, knowing that one direct attack would shatter its body. It grew bigger and circled Sven, taking his attention away before it slithered upward and dropped down swiftly.
In retaliation, Sven raked his claws straight at the violet serpent.
And to his surprise, the serpent exploded into flames.
Even though the flames couldn’t produce enough heat to hurt him, the flames blocked his vision.
Additionally, the heat… the heat distorted the energy around.
Settling on making another roar to evaporated the flames in an instant, Sven sucked in a deep breath, but he stopped when a figure emerged from the flames. Adhara dashed in with purpose, determined to fulfil her desire.
Seeing this, Sven changed target.
But the moment his gaze met Adhara’s glowing white eyes, pain struck his eyes.
His eyes turned red, and before he knows it, they bled and exploded.
Splash!
Adhara didn’t hesitate—the instant Sven’s eyes burst, she lunged, ready to repeat what she had done before. But Sven wasn’t just anyone; he was the bastard son of the Werewolf Origin, and the terror he inspired came from far more than just his bloodline.
It was also because of his ferocious personality and overbearing strength.
Despite not having eyes to see, he blocked all of Adhara’s attempts and even countering.
He only relied on his ears and nose, but he could still pinpoint exactly how Adhara was moving.
Adhara’s eyes bulged with focus as she struck Sven from every angle.
Kicking. Clawing. Distractions.
She tried everything, but the moment Sven’s guard was up, there was no weakness.
It’s like he turned into a boulder, and Adhara only has a rubber sword to break it.
Earlier, she had attempted to concentrate her Anti-Werewolf bloodline’s aura on a single point—Sven’s eyes. Just like mana, she thought the aura could be focused and refined—amplifying its potency greatly when directed with precision.
And she was right.
Sven was unbothered by her aura because of his armored furs.
Normally, other Werewolves would be bleeding from every orifice by her sheer presence alone.
But the moment she concentrated her aura, narrowing its effect, Sven’s eyes exploded.
From that alone, Adhara realized that she had been releasing her aura too broadly all this time.
She let her aura loose—and scattered it to affect every Werewolf in her vicinity, but doing so had only diluted its strength. The instant she focused it into a single target, the aura’s potency skyrocketed, sharp enough to tear through even Sven’s formidable durability.
The Anti-Werewolf bloodline, backed with the White Omicron’s power, is never a joke.
Adhara had only been using it ineffectively all this time.
Even so, it’s still not enough.
But that doesn’t mean anything to Adhara’s current berserk state.
Rather, it only made her angrier.
’I’m going to succeed!’
Adhara pulled back her aura and blasted forward.
Almost instantly, Sven’s eyes recovered the moment the pressure from her aura was lifted, but he opened his eyes only to see that Adhara was already right under him. Instead of hacking her away, Sven reached his hand to grab her.
In that moment, Adhara’s eyes flashed with a blinding white light.
Splash!
Sven’s outstretched arm suddenly burst with blood, tiny holes ripping open across his flesh and spraying crimson like a ruptured vein. Adhara had focused her aura solely on that limb—and in the next heartbeat, she slipped past his defenses and thrusted her claws forward.
Once again, the pulse of fire infiltrated Sven’s body.
And the number above his head dropped to two.
One more strike.
Grab!
Roughly, Sven’s massive hand clamped down on Adhara’s torso as she was hauled off the ground and then slammed back down. Her body felt like they were crushed from that impact alone, and Sven snarled at her menacingly.
In a battle like this, the stronger predator will win.
And Sven will always be the stronger predator.
Growl!
In front of Sven, Adhara’s growl was akin to a pup trying to act menacing to its father.
But that didn’t diminish the fire of battle behind her eyes.
Bite!
Adhara bit Sven’s fingers and threw her face away.
She wanted to tear his fingers, but her sharp canines were only able to scratch the skin, nothing more.
Seeing her futile attempt, Sven growled in triumph, but his celebratory exclamation was cut short when another pulse of fire pierced through his body. Adhara sent the last attempt to break the sequence into Sven through her fangs, and the flaming number above dropped to Zero.
At that moment, a massive grin stretched her lips as she finally attained Sven’s ability.
To Adhara’s shock, it was a direct moon ability—Lunar Devourer.
BOOM!
Sven was thrown back by a sudden burst of strength.
He rolled across the ground and only stopped when he stabbed his claws into the ground.
For a moment there, he stayed frozen.
Not because he was hurt, or not because he was fuming inside—but because he could feel a familiarity in the moonlight energy around him. And the scent of this power… it was almost identical to the scent of power he emanated.
The only difference being this one was more burning, not pleasant like the moonlight energy’s nature.
Raising his gaze, Sven saw it.
Adhara stood in the midst of a vortex of violet flames.
Her pristine white furs grow more lustrous than before, and the furs on the back of her head—had been shaded by the violet of her flames. More importantly, her furs were not gleaming like they were made of polished armor.
It was the sign of the Lunar Devourer Moon Ability.
But her lustrous furs were filled with fire element, which made the armor more offensive than defensive.
Adhara looked down at her hands in disbelief.
Upon achieving what she was aiming for, the anger faded, allowing her to regain back her mind.
“I… I did it?” She mumbled, looking at her new form as if she were looking at a miracle happening. “I managed to crack the sequences? The Lunar Devourer… I can feel my strength rising—significantly. I think compared to before, I’m 50% stronger?”
A single tear that had quickly evaporated by the flames dropped to her cheek.
Adhara clenched her hands, smiling in happiness.
Even though Rex was superior in every single way, this brought her a lot closer to him.
And she was elated.
Just then, however, she snapped out of her trance when a violent breeze brushed against her flames.
She looked ahead and found Sven was grinding his teeth, and his aura rose significantly higher that she felt suffocated in its presence. A bead of sweat trickled down the side of her face, ’Did I anger him by taking his ability and changing its nature…? He looked murderous.’
Even though she got this ability, Sven had only been playing with her.
Going against him at full power would be suicide.
’I think it’s time to run…’
Adhara wasted no time and bolted away.
