The Invincible Full-Moon System - Chapter 1702: Breakthrough (3)

Chapter 1702: Breakthrough (3)
A massive Cyclop sat slumped before the castle gate, his bast resting against the fortified, robust wall, and arms folded as he snored in deep, unbothered sleep. This was Dargena City—the capital, the beating heart of the Clarentium Empire.
Surrounding it was the Humming Damned Forest, where cursed monsters acted as a defensive layer.
Inside, sentries from the other vassals of the empire also contributed to securing the city even more.
Along with the castle’s protective enchantments ever active, there was no reason to fear.
Nothing ever dared to happen here.
Just like the heart of other major Supernatural races, this city was also a fortification.
At the very least, if something were to happen, the Cyclop was sure that there would be enough time for it to react.
But tonight was different.
Rumble!
Ugrok snapped its eye open and grabbed the massive, armored club placed beside it.
He stood up readily and looked around, realizing that the ground was shaking—and the magnitude was intensifying with each second that passed. Instinctively, Ugrok knelt down on one knee and felt the ground, using his raw senses to make sure this quake wasn’t an attack.
It was.
Ugrok frowned as the quaking was caused by an enormous amount of energy.
No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t pinpoint where it came from.
Liliya poked her head out from the top of the wall.
Since Linthia had been taken to the Spirit Realm, Dindora passed away—and Gelmar was deployed to the Dark Elf Kingdom to handle some matters; she was the only one who could lead. She was still hurt, but the situation called for her.
“Ugrok, what’s the status?!”
“Bad. Ugrok knows energy!”
Liliya gritted her teeth and immediately turned to the soldiers guarding the walls.
“Activate the formation and protect the castle,” She informed firmly—and then pointed at three guards that were a bit stronger than the rest. “One of you go down and alert the city guards to be ready for any possible attack. You two will come with me. We’re going to protect the training chamber.”
Gelmar and Vivian were the ones who left her a message through a soldier.
Inside that message, she was assigned to be in charge, and she was also informed about Rex’s situation.
His body was unprotected.
And as the one in charge, she will do anything to protect him—even if it costs her life.
’Rex hinted that I might also be a captain. I have to do him right.’
She leaped down from the walls and headed straight inside.
As she rushed alongside the peak seventh-rank realm soldiers behind her through the corridor, she noted that there was another presence inside the city—Ryze. And he seemed to also be rushing swiftly towards the training chamber.
Upon reaching the corridor where the training chamber was, Ryze appeared from the other end.
“Who are you?” Ryze asked as he stood before the training chamber.
“I believe you saw me with Rex,” She answered, unbothered by the question. “Captain Gelmar and the new pack member, Vivian, lend me the authority over the castle’s protection. I’m on your side. No need to be on guard.”
A bead of cold sweat drizzled down the side of Liliya’s face.
Even though this was her first conversation with Ryze ever since she got here, and Ryze was not being overtly hostile, she could feel it. Ryze wasn’t emanating any energy or aura; he was standing there with only a small frown on his face, but she could feel it.
His presence alone increases the temperature in the air.
Just by doing nothing, he emanated heat that even Liliya couldn’t shrug easily.
’This kid is actually this strong? Eighth-rank realm? Not even early, but nearing the peak?’ Liliya smiled acutely, realizing that the people around Rex were all monsters. ’He doesn’t seem to be Human either, is he a Werew—’
Rumble!
“It’s coming from inside?” Ryze looked at the training chamber in surprise.
Snapping out of his daze, he kicked the door open and forced his way inside in haste.
Liliya and the soldiers behind her followed right after.
Upon entering the training chamber, they immediately halted in their steps, and their eyes widened.
Rex’s body was seething with destructive moonlight energy that quaked the castle—and even the entire Dargena City and beyond. Wild surges of that radiant power burst outward uncontrollably, tearing every single thing that it touched within the training chamber.
Now, Ryze and Liliya could see deep, glowing scars across the place that refused to heal.
At this point, it was common knowledge to the people that the city had self-regeneration ability.
It was the reason it could endure most of the tragedies that happened since its founding day.
But even then, the castle, which was the source of that specific ability, wasn’t able to heal these scars.
Just to show how dense and powerful the energy coming from Rex was.
Boom!
Boom!
“We need to get out of here!” Liliya protected her face with her arms, noting that the splashes of energy were becoming more rampant and uncontrollable. It carried a force that was beyond her limit. “Staying here would be asking for death!”
Ryze also nodded.
Since the castle also has suppression from the combined energy that it constantly absorbed, Rex’s energy couldn’t be sensed from outside. It was the reason why Ugrok and Liliya couldn’t pinpoint where this earthquake was coming from.
But now they know, and it’s time to leave.
Swoosh!
Just then, another splash of moonlight energy, curving like a cleaving wind, flew towards them.
Instinctively, Liliya and Ryze reacted efficiently.
In one breath, the mark on her face glowed as she left a glowing red mark on Ryze’s back.
Ryze, sensing the boost in strength, immediately got in the way of the splash—his draconic flames burst forth and covered his entire arms. Once they faded, his arms were now covered in flaming scales that were a testament to him being a Heavenly Dragonman.
Clang!
Despite their combined strength, it wasn’t enough.
Ryze’s scales shattered, leaving his arms powerless again.
And he only managed to deflect the splash a few centimeters away.
It barely missed Liliya behind him, grazing her cheek.
Boom!
’Am I still that much weaker?’ Ryze thought in horror, staring at Rex’s motionless body as if he was staring at an otherworldly being. ’I’m confident I can even block a ninth-rank realm attack, and with Liliya’s help, blocking this should be possible. But this?!’
’No, it’s not that we’re weak,’ Liliya hissed. ’It’s because he was stronger! A breakthrough?! And from the look of things, his Werewolf side is the one making a breakthrough!’
Boom!
Rex’s body exploded, firing a devastating aura that shattered the ceiling and pierced skyward.
Its blood-red color clashed against the city’s barrier.
Even the Wandering Sentinel immediately struck the aura, thinking that it was an attack.
A crack spread across the entire barrier, but it held on.
Instead of spilling out of the city and spreading like wildfire, the aura turned into smoke that washed over the entire city completely. From the outside, Dargena City looked like it was drowned in red powder, blocking anyone from peering inside.
Liliya stared at the descending red powder in disbelief.
’The World’s Awakening restored the world to its former glory—stronger, richer, more alive. Then came the Second Breath, granting beasts the means to harness that heightened surge of energy, turning them into Order Beasts. Naturally, the castle’s barrier—said to be fueled by many energies, grew stronger as well.’
Then, her eyes fixated on the moon above, glowing red as if acknowledging Rex’s breakthrough.
Like a Godly eye watching the breakthrough from above.
’But even so… It still cracked from Rex’s aura alone?’
Just then, Liliya looked to the horizon, to outside of the city, in surprise.
She could hear noises from outside the city—the sound of animals.
Roars, howls, and hisses all converged into one as if they were also forced to acknowledge Rex.
Liliya looked back at Rex again, heart pounding inside her chest.
“Don’t tell me, did he finally reach the next rank?’ She thought in shock. ’The tenth-rank realm?!’
…
Swish!
Instinctively, Evelyn and Gistella snapped their heads to look at the other side of the world.
Despite being far away from their home, they could feel the turmoil, and they could also smell the scent of someone they recognized almost immediately. No matter the distance—or how light this scent was, the two of them could recognize this scent—this was their Alpha’s scent, Rex’s scent.
Both of them exchanged a look, noting that Rex’s aura was rising rapidly.
So much so that even their connection to him burned despite being separated by realms.
Evelyn’s lips curled into a small smile.
Not even Sintra noticed.
’You’ve gotten stronger again,’ Evelyn thought, exhaling lightly. ’I hope it’s not too hard for you.’
’I don’t know what happened up there, but congratulations, master.’ Gistella looked up, smiling.
…
Meanwhile, the situation in the Spirit Realm was getting more destructive.
Princess Davina and Althea leaped away when the ground underneath them cracked, and while still mid-air, they realized that it wasn’t only the ground underneath them, but the entire area was crumbling before their very eyes.
“So strong…” Althea gasped.
In her entire life, she has never seen someone refining an Original Echo with her own two eyes.
All the Original Echoes she knew that were refined only came from stories.
The Five Lead Clover Echo, the Dragon Supreme Echo, and the Apocalypse Scorpion Echo were all written and passed down in texts. As a noble, Althea had read the texts and knew how each one of them was formed by the prominent figure in the past.
It was the same for Princess Davina.
Coming from a Duchy House, she has more access and knows a lot more about Original Echoes.
’Original Echoes always suited the person wielding it perfectly, and since Rex is a Werewolf, his suited Echo should be related to the moon.’ Princess Davina looked up, staring at the moon above that seemed to be watching the unfolding event like a silent sentinel. ’But the question is, how strong will this Echo reach?’
Even though Original Echo is separate from Unique Echoes, the rank remained the same.
Creating Original Echoes is hard already; only a few could manage this.
But creating a strong Original Echo is beyond hard.
For instance, the Dragon Supreme Echo has the potential to reach the rank of the 10 Apocalyptic Beasts, which would place it as one of the strongest Echoes in the entire realm. Unfortunately, the creator of this Echo could only hold on until it reached 40 Mausoleums of Stars.
It all depends on the effort, sacrifice, and endurance of the creator.
Even if the potential of the Echo is high, the creator will always be the most important part.
Creating an Original Echo at the rank of the 300 Coffins of the Drowned is relatively easy.
At least, for those who can make an Original Echo, it’s relatively easy.
But anything beyond that is significantly harder.
Starting from the rank of 100 Long Lost Catacombs, the creator has to pass the trials of the world.
It would be hazardous, painful, but extremely worth it if the creator could endure them all.
’Judging from the energy of this Original Echo Rex was making, and how even the moon also seemed to be responding, which meant the God behind the moon was involved, the potential for his Original Echo should be limitless,’ Princess Davina watched as crimson light began to climb out of the fissure, and spread to the surroundings. ’Now is where the real start began. I don’t know what you’re planning to do, dear fiancé, but I wonder… How high can you climb?’
Inside the fissure, Rex was reveling at the strength the Blood Moon Echo was amassing.
At this point, the blood inside the jar was already a quarter through.
And the Reaping Seed that contained the Berserker of Skartold’s Echo is beginning to be devoured.
<Congratulations, the Blood Moon Echo has been formed!>
<Trials of the World is beginning…>
“Bring it! I’m not going down!” Rex roared, crumbling the walls around him even further.
