The Invincible Full-Moon System - Chapter 1730: More About Chaos

Chapter 1730: More About Chaos
Rex shook his head at the thought.
Across all his worries that might emerge in the Spirit Realm, this was not one of them.
Adhara was the jealous type, showing clear reactions when she was jealous.
Evelyn was the sharp type, subtly picking up cues and leaning more toward being angry in silence.
But Calidora? She’s the obsessed type, and certainly the most troublesome.
“Anyway, let’s not talk about her…” Rex waved his hand; his mind was already reaching the limit of talking about Calidora. It’s not going to be good for him to talk more about her—when he’s supposed to focus on healing.
On the other hand, Princess Davina turned away and crossed her legs.
It was obvious that Rex was still hiding a lot.
Even when confronted directly like this, he didn’t tell much.
’What do I expect…?’ Princess Davina smiled sheepishly inside. ’Regardless of our status—we’ve only met recently. It hasn’t been that long since we knew each other, not even a month, so how…? How am I going to approach this? I don’t even know much about him. How did April do it?’
She bit her lower lip silently and looked out of the window.
Clearly, her mind was weighed heavily by something that she was trying to achieve on this trip.
A few hours passed as the carriage moved through the Black Rift with incredible speed.
Princess Davina asked Rex about his identity back in the Mortal Realm to fill the void of silence that seemed to be choking the air inside the carriage. And Rex decided not to lie, telling her about the Clarentium Empire and that he was an emperor down there.
It came as a shock to Princess Davina.
Considering how Rex approached battles in general, she was expecting him to be a War General.
Someone who has spent most of their life in battles.
Rex corrected his answer as he was indeed that person not too long ago, but circumstances changed his occupation from a soldier in battle to an emperor. It was never his intention to become an emperor, but that’s the path fate led him to.
“So, what made you come to this realm initially?”
“I have a connection with a Goddess, the Banished Goddess of the Dark Moon, and the last thing I need to cure her can only be found in this realm. It was the Phoenix Feather that I asked for from the empress. I heard the Spirit Emperor has some.”
“Yes, he had fought with a phoenix before. And what about your friend, Devo?”
“He’s scouting for me to make sure the Phoenix Feather was really here, but he got kidnapped.”
Rex looked at Princess Davina, who seemed to be listening to his answer attentively.
It felt weird for her to be this curious about him.
But then again, there’s no need for him to hide anything from her since she already knew his identity.
Keeping secrets from her only made being around her more exhausting—and Rex didn’t want that. On the other hand, if Princess Davina knew the truth about his identity in the Mortal Realm, it would be a lot more comfortable for him.
“I assumed coming here is not that easy for you, which was why you asked for the Maw of Oblivion,” Princess Davina said—recalling the list of things that Rex asked for that she learned from her visit to the royal bubble. “But what do you want by meeting with the Spirit Emperor?”
“Yes, my soul is damaged, and a Demoness helped me restore it a bit so that I can enter this realm, and as for my request for an audience with the Spirit Emperor…” Rex paused; his mind arranging the right words to tell her. “I want to make Devo and Amanir stronger.”
Hearing this, Princess Davina leaned back again.
She sighed as her mind processed what Rex said.
“From the start, how did the Goddess even get hurt? Who are you fighting?” She asked.
Normally, Princess Davina would’ve been surprised that someone had a connection with a Goddess.
But because it was Rex, she wasn’t really surprised.
Rex was the fated one for her, as per what the Divine Saintess stated, so he must be extraordinary.
“I got exposed to the Chaos Realm,” Rex answered with a sigh. “And she protected me. I got lucky.”
“Chaos Realm?!” Princess Davina gasped in shock. “How did anything connected to the Chaos Realm even appear in the Mortal Realm? That should be impossible. How long has it been going on? This is not natural.”
“Hmm…?” Rex looked at her as his brows dipped into a frown.
Compared to anything that the two talked about, this was her first time reacting this strongly.
It was clear that she knew more about the situation.
Maybe she knew the reason why Chaos Phantoms began to appear in the Mortal Realm.
Rex fixed his sitting posture and asked, “It started recently, and Chaos Spawns invaded the realm little by little. Do you know anything about this?”
“Not a lot,” Princess Davina shook her head. “But unlike most people who suspected that the Black Rift was a natural disaster or a magical phenomenon, I knew that it came from the Chaos Realm. Back then, there was a leak from the Chaos Realm, and that leak swept across the Spirit Realm.”
“What?” Rex’s gaze narrowed. “Is that really true?”
“Yes, I’ve seen the ancient scripture stating exactly that. I believe it’s authentic,” She nodded.
No way… Doesn’t that mean the Black Rift could also drown the Mortal Realm?
“Don’t assume things,” Princess Davina said—knowing what Rex was thinking. “It’s not clear whether the Mortal Realm would also suffer the same fate as the Spirit Realm. But in any case, anything linked to the Chaos Realm is never a good thing.”
“I’ve had a lot of unfinished business back there, so I need to think of the worst-case scenario.”
“I understand. Either way, seems like things have gotten worse with time…”
“What do you mean by that?” Rex raised a brow.
“It’s nothing but a hunch,” Princess Davina shook her head. “But I think something is going on there— and I’m not thrilled at the prospect of what it was. All I know is that the Chaos Realm has been active— lately. But let’s hope that this stayed as a hunch.”
“Thank you for telling me this,” Rex thanked her for the information.
Associating himself with the circle of nobles—especially someone as high up as Princess Davina—was the right move. He wouldn’t be able to gain this information without being here, so he was grateful for being with her, especially when the information is tied to the Chaos Realm.
Rex looked away as his mind trailed somewhere else.
He now started to think that coming here to this realm was fate.
On top of getting the last material he needed to cure Nivellen, he also learned more information about the danger in the foreseeable future, and even already accustomed himself to living with the Black Rift in his daily life.
It can sweep through the Mortal Realm, too, so having experienced it is a natural advantage.
But then again, this was still an assumption, not a fact.
Compared to the Mortal Realm, the Spirit Realm is superior in resources, and the Spirits also have an edge in unity to battle the Black Rift. And they also have Seekers, which were a unique mutation among them due to the prolonged exposure to the Black Rift.
In contrast, the Mortal Realm is still recovering its resources now that the Second Breath has started. But we are extremely divided, and we also don’t have Seekers. Maybe gifted people like the Witch of Chaos can act like a Seeker somehow, but there aren’t that many people who have similar powers.
Rex could already tell that the Mortal Realm had a worse chance against the Black Rift.
One and the only thing the Mortal Realm has is diversity of powers.
Each Supernatural race will have its own edge, and that would certainly help.
But the bad blood ran too deep.
Forget about the other kingdoms, the Clarentium Empire alone would collapse into war again if there’s no Silverstar Pack governing them. And—with so few members, there’s bound to be rifts, one like the tension between the Dwarves and the Tigermen.
Not to mention, there are also the problems regarding the Order Beasts.
Other than the older generations, the rest didn’t know much about Order Beasts, including Rex.
And none knew how the Order Beasts would react to voidal monsters or Chaos Spawns.
It would be a nightmare if the Order Beasts were corrupted and turned.
Just imagining Dravitar, the massive dragon that dismissed him as an ant, falling to corruption—made him shiver. Rex could already form the pieces in his mind—that would kickstart a domino effect of absolute destruction.
Once I return, I’ll make preparations in case the Black Rift really sweeps the realm.
I don’t believe the Fourthborn was behind what happened in the Spirit Realm, but I can’t rule out—the idea that he was the one responsible for the Chaos Phantoms plaguing the Mortal Realm. Who knows? Maybe he’s preparing to let the Chaos Realm bleed to the Mortal Realm.
As of this moment, the reason why the Chaos Phantoms began to appear was still unknown to him.
Prof. K was investigating the situation, but there are still not many results.
But Rex was almost certain that it was the Fourthborn.
Seems like the time dilation was caused by the Chaos Realm.
At the thought of something big happening inside that realm, Rex could feel his chest tightening, making it hard for him to breathe. He wouldn’t feel like this had it not been for his best friend being there, and he didn’t know how that friend was doing.
Just hang in there, Edward. You’ve paid what you owed to me by helping me win against the Fifthborn.
In fact, you overpaid.
Once I get you out of that hellhole, we’re going to be even.
Rex looked out the window at the blurring dark smoke of the Black Rift; determination flashed in his eyes. One that radiated his obsession to protect what was his, “A mortal and a God, huh…” He muttered silently, recalling what his mother said to him.
His mother warned him of an approaching calamity.
It’s certainly tied with the Chaos Realm, so Rex’s role in this was clear.
“I don’t care about the God—who would be benevolent enough to deal with the calamity, but that mortal has to be me. Mom is calling me…” Rex smiled inwardly, finding the moment to be right. “And unlike that time in the Ghoul’s Den, I’m now ready.”
Moments passed.
Rex was too focused on what he had in mind that he didn’t realize that he had arrived.
Not until Princess Davina held his shoulder gently.
“Rex, we’re here,” She said, nudging her head towards the front.
“Hmm?” Rex looked ahead and saw a magical grove through the window. “A forest?”
“We need to go through the forest to reach our destination, and we’re going by foot starting from here.”
“Making me walk already?” Rex smirked teasingly. “Did you forget I’m still wounded?”
“For someone who easily handles an assassination attempt, you sure like to downplay your condition.”
“I was only breaking the ice. You said I need to loosen up.”
“When did I say that?”
“You told me that I’m stiffer than a painting.”
“Glad you still remembered. Now take your medicine and let’s go.”
“Alright, alright.”
Rex drank his medicine as per what Princess Davina told him to do, and once he did, he got down from the carriage and took a look around. From the change in the terrain, it was clear that they had gone far away from Rontera.
He could feel the soil was softer, and the air also smelled different.
Even though Rex didn’t know why Princess Davina brought him here, the fresh air felt really nice.
“Hmm… I wouldn’t mind going back after staying here for a bit. It’s worth it.”
