The Invincible Full-Moon System - Chapter 1733: No Chance to Make Him Stay

Chapter 1733: No Chance to Make Him Stay
Rex had only seen Princess Davina fight a few times.
And the clearest display of power that he saw her use was back when he saw her for the first time.
From the notifications he gained at that time, Princess Davina surely has multiple Echoes assimilated into her Soul Artifact. As someone who was deemed a super genius, a pillar for the new generation, she surely has a high-grade Soul Artifact, and thus, having multiple Echoes is not that surprising.
Even Rex has two Echoes within the Red Dawn of Kaiser.
It was the Dark Auctoritas Echo and the Blood Moon Echo.
But his main goal was now the latter as his breakthrough to the Eternal Spirit rank was through that one.
Moreover, considering the grade of the Red Dawn of Kaiser, he could probably add more Echoes.
Not that he would, though.
At this moment, the Blood Moon Echo was still settling within the Red Dawn of Kaiser, and he hadn’t even developed a characteristic as all Eternal Spirits do. But even so, he could already feel it—the Blood Moon Echo is extremely hostile to the Dark Auctoritas Echo, or maybe to any Echoes.
He was fine now because the Dark Auctoritas Echo was far weaker and is rather docile in comparison.
If he added an Echo of similar strength, he didn’t know what would happen.
Regardless, Princess Davina must have a star-related Echo as her main Echo since her power was now rising under the clear sky. It can’t help but make Rex wonder how compatible she would be if she were turned into a Werewolf.
Like that will ever happen. She’s a noble. She wouldn’t lower her pride to that extent.
Oblivious to what Rex was thinking, Princess Davina approached the magical banyan tree at the center.
Rex followed her from behind.
Since this place seemed to be sacred, out of respect, he didn’t scan the tree with the System.
It also seemed like Princess Davina was going to tell him about it, so there was no use scanning it.
“Since it’s still sunny, we’ll wait under the tree. You can relax and meditate. Anything you want.”
“What about what you want? I doubt you brought me here only to show me the views.”
Rex was dull about women in most cases, but having to talk and negotiate with all kinds of people, he developed the keen sense to feel what the other party wanted. And right now, Princess Davina wanted something, but she seemed hesitant.
Like she was unsure whether to proceed or not.
“I brought you here so that you can heal faster. After all, you’re a Werewolf.” She answered.
“That’s a lie,” Rex shook his head. “If you want to do something, then do it. It’s far better than the taste of regret later.”
“How can you read me like that so casually?”
“Your expression is softer now than when we first met. It’s easier to read you now.”
“That’s your fault,” Princess Davina exhaled through her mouth—but she quickly continued before Rex could say another thing. “In that case, bear with me. I want to eat the fruit from this tree. But if you felt uncomfortable, say it.”
“Uncomfortable? What can you possibly do to make me uncomfortable?” Rex chuckled.
In his eyes, Princess Davina wasn’t the type to do something extreme.
So, he failed to imagine what her making him uncomfortable.
Princess Davina paused for a second and stared away, like she was avoiding looking at Rex’s face.
But Rex noticed that they were now shoulder to shoulder.
And both of their hands grazed.
Rex looked down, and almost as if he instinctively understood what she wanted, he reached out for her hand and intertwined his fingers with hers. As soon as he did that, Princess Davina drew in a deep breath of relief, as though she’d been holding it all along, waiting for him to make that simple gesture.
Smiling faintly, she channeled her life energy into Rex’s hand.
And in response, he also did the same.
Swish!
Rex looked up at the banyan tree when the leaves began to rustle.
Not from the wind, but something else.
As if recognizing the harmony and unity of their energies, the magical banyan tree began to shimmer with vivid hues of emerald and crimson. Its leaves were now a mixture of deep green and red, while its trunk regained its earth color.
What had once been a dull, lifeless tree now radiated a breathtaking, magical grace.
It recognized us because of the seed we planted earlier.
Rex looked at Princess Davina, who was staring up at the tree with pure excitement and awe.
He knew that she wanted to accomplish something, but since it’s probably nothing bad, he decided to let her get what she wanted. After all, he wouldn’t be able to accomplish what he came here to do had it not been for her influence.
Just then, the aerial roots curled upward, disappearing into the tree’s canopy.
And a few seconds later, one aerial root descended, and alongside it were two glowing things.
From how they were shaped and also the fragrance they were emanating, Rex could tell that these two things were fruits. Two big berries to be exact. One has emerald skin and seethed with reddish aura, while the other has red skin and seethed with emerald aura.
Princess Davina took both of the fruits as the aerial root climbed back up again.
She stared at the two berries that were the size of her hand, and handed the emerald berry to Rex.
“Here, you can have this one.” She gently guided his hand closed around the berry, her touch—lingered for a heartbeat longer. “You probably already know this, but these berries are born from the merging of our energies. Legend says that whoever eats them together will come to understand each other deeply.”
For a heartbeat, she paused—hesitant.
“Are you… willing?” She finally asked.
Just from her explanation alone, Rex understood why she needed to ask for something like this.
For them to understand each other better, they would need to know one another better.
And this berry must have the ability to intertwine their memories together.
Or perhaps something even deeper than that.
Having someone look into his past was not something he would want, but Princess Davina was not only another person. In a way, he was indebted to her. Not to mention, though she didn’t show it clearly, she must be quite surprised to realize that he was from another realm.
From the Mortal Realm.
At this point, she must feel like she didn’t know him at all, and that’s unfair to her.
It’s not like this is something new.
Recalling the time when he was in the Silken Citadel, Rex smiled a little.
Ever since that time, he became more inclined to allow someone to see his past, as he had already made his peace with it. Elder Tilrith had already seen his past, and she’s not an ally—so there’s no reason for him to refuse Princess Davina right now, who was clearly an ally.
Or maybe even much closer than an ally.
Princess Davina stared at Rex’s left eye and then moved to the right eye, waiting for him to answer.
But since he said nothing, she already assumed the answer was no.
Her shoulders slumped a little, not dramatic—but easy to spot since she was always upright.
Rex didn’t say anything.
Instead, he raised the berry to his lips and took a bite, catching Princess Davina completely off guard.
Sweet juice sprayed inside Rex’s mouth as he nodded in approval, finding the fruit to be quite flavorful despite its deep emerald sheen. He was expecting the fruit to be bitter, unripe, but it was unexpectedly delicious—sweet, yet edged with a sharp, tangy note that only made the flavor more vivid.
Rex nudged his chin towards the berry in her hand.
“Aren’t you also going to take a bite?” He asked as he swallowed the remaining berry.
Snapping out of her daze, she also took a modest bite.
And the moment she did, their bodies stirred with their own distinct energies—intertwining in a gentle surge that drew them into a deep, trance-like slumber. Standing face-to-face with eyes closed, they were swept into a current of shared visions—memories and emotions laid bare, felt as vividly as the moments they were born.
Moments passed.
Princess Davina didn’t know how much time had passed, but when she opened her eyes, it was nighttime.
She was breathing heavy.
Inside, her blood was boiling violently, like there was a colony of fire ants marching in her veins.
But considering what she had seen, this was a natural response.
Cough! Cough!
Princess Davina covered her mouth as she coughed a couple of times.
Pulling away her trembling hand, she was surprised to see blood on it—the memories that were played in her mind along with the emotions were so intense that they even managed to damage her real body, which was something she had never known before.
Just as the rumors surrounding this place, the couple left this grove as new people.
It was because the fruits helped them tell things that they couldn’t say through words.
And with their emotions united, both became more understanding and accepting.
’I came here to really know and understand who he is—so that I can know the truth about him without any hidden parts, but what I’ve seen and experienced… It’s too painful.’ Princess Davina gazed softly at Rex, still lost in slumber. ’He’s young, far younger than I am, but the pain he’s endured…’
Princess Davina shivered at what she had seen earlier.
As a noble herself, she has had a hard life full of expectations from everyone around her.
Be it her late mother, her father, or even anyone a part of the House, everyone placed a high expectation on her, who was way more talented than anyone in her family. One who could rival the crown prince and lift the House of Castillon’s name.
Due to the expectations and pressure, her childhood was rough.
From the day she was born to when she reached a hundred years old, she spent every single second training and increasing her power.
She never wanted that.
Not in the beginning.
Sometimes, she wanted to explore the world and do things other than training.
But what she wanted was never heard by anyone.
She tried telling it to anyone who would listen, but their answers were much less the same.
That she must uphold her reputation.
And as heartless as the people around her might sound, they were right, as possessing a status such as hers, there are a lot of snakes around who wanted to eat her alive. Only through strength would she be able to survive.
For years, she never skipped training.
It doesn’t matter whether she was sick or her body was breaking down.
Every single day was another flavor of training.
Surviving assassination attempts, gritting her teeth through training even when her bones cracked, or enduring a treacherous journey just to get the opportunity she needed to reach the next rank. For a long time, she thought her life was the hardest.
Especially considering her power only allowed her to survive.
Unlike her brothers, who could be an heir when they were strong enough, she couldn’t.
But compared to Rex, her past was nothing.
’His parents were slaughtered before his very eyes when he was a child. He needed to stay hidden even amongst his people, and even hunted down at one point because of the Werewolf blood in his veins. As if that wasn’t enough, even the foster parents who sheltered him were slain by the very people he sought to protect.’ Princess Davina drew a sharp breath, the edge of her poise fraying.
How does one endure that?
’And now his only friend is trapped in the Chaos Realm,’ She bit her lower lip harder as the truth about the man who was supposed to be her fiancée became clearer to her. ’He… After all of that, he survives. Still here. Still unbroken. He’s… incredible.’
As she understood him even more, she began to realize one thing.
One thing that she couldn’t deny.
Princess Davina has no chance of getting what she wants, ’I can’t make him stay…’
