The Invincible Full-Moon System - Chapter 1778: Shattered Peace

Chapter 1778: Shattered Peace
Rex was now lying down on the shallow water with his head on Nivellen’s lap.
He had calmed down significantly thanks to Nivellen’s help, but decided to stay for a little bit longer.
It was bleak and muted in this realm, which made a perfect temporary solitude.
Linthia could afford to keep the voidal monsters at bay for a few more minutes, so he doesn’t need to hurry back. Besides, the others were as exhausted as he, too. It’s a good thing for them to catch their breath in this momentary break.
After all, the hurdle was not done.
“So that’s what happened…” Nivellen whispered lightly.
Rex had recalled the things he needed to gather to create the cure, along with his struggle to obtain the Phoenix Feather, which was the hardest-to-get material of all the required materials. He deliberately watered down some parts in his story to not make her feel bad, but it seemed she realized.
“You’ve suffered a lot,” She combed his hair gently. “I hope you don’t need to feel all those pains.”
“I’m used to it by now,” Rex answered without opening his eyes.
“That’s not something you should be getting used to,” Nivellen sighed, hating the fact that he was even used to pain that no mortal should ever feel. “Take a break once in a while. Every time there’s nothing urgent going on, you should use it effectively.”
“Haah…” Rex exhaled roughly through his mouth. “It’s easier said than done. I can’t flip a switch and turn my mind off.”
Even though silencing his mind sounded good, it was simply impossible.
His enemies are everywhere, and there might be a chance that relaxing even for a second might allow one of them to get to him somehow. Just like earlier, when he finally felt triumphant, Kaiser made his move.
It was a low blow considering Kaiser dared to empower someone who isn’t even a werewolf.
One that caught Rex completely off guard.
“Speaking of enemies, how did Kaiser manage to tamper with the realm of mortals again? I thought the attack on me led by the Yule Moon Lunirich God breached the rule of the world.”
“Each realm has a different rule. Kaiser or the other Lunirich Gods aren’t restricted in this realm.”
“I… I see.”
Just as he expected, the difference between the Mortal Realm and the Spirit Realm isn’t only its location.
It was far deeper than he imagined, and that’s what he neglected.
Rex wanted to close his eyes again, enjoying the gentle stroke of Nivellen’s hand on his head, but caged his intention when he remembered something. Speaking of the realms, he remembered what he learned from Princess Davina.
“Say… I learned the Chaos Realm is active lately,” He said.
Upon hearing this, there was a twitch on Nivellen’s expression as even her hand stopped.
But she quickly recovered, acting like the mention of the Chaos Realm didn’t bother her.
“Are you still… unwilling to talk about the Chaos Realm?” Rex asked, clear concern etched across his face. He feared that Nivellen might be traumatized by the Chaos Corruption, “I won’t talk about it again if it’s still troubling you.”
“No, it’s not that…” Nivellen smiled gently. “What is it you wanted to ask?”
Rex hesitated.
But since she’d asked, he pressed on. “The Black Rift that swept the Spirit Realm was a leak from the Chaos Realm. Now—Chaos Phantoms are appearing everywhere in the Mortal Realm. I could not help but wonder… what is the Chaos Realm, truly? Is it a realm of twisted beings?”
Despite the System’s fragmented mentions about it, his own experience with Chaos Spawns, and even the intelligence he’d gathered from Princess Davina, the nature of the Chaos Realm remained a mystery to him.
He knew its appearance, but not its essence.
To be exact, he wanted to know why it was invading other realms like this.
“I cannot answer that.”
“Cannot answer that? So, you knew but couldn’t tell me?”
“Yes,” Nivellen nodded regretfully. “If I tell you even a piece of what it was, I’m afraid the beings in there would be attracted to you. For the time being, focus on getting stronger—and accumulate divinity. Once you’re ready, I’ll answer your questions.”
Even now… She’s still saying this even when I’m much stronger? Chaos Realm… What do you want?
How am I supposed to save Edward?
Rex placed an arm over his face, contemplating Nivellen’s reaction.
“And what about the Dame of Snow? If she’s friendly to me, then I could use her help. Do you know who she was?”
“I’m sure you’d get to know her soon enough.”
…
Meanwhile, the Tomb of Heroes.
Princess Davina was sitting on the central platform surrounded by four big statues.
She had already dispatched a carriage and a few soldiers, sending April back to the nearest healer to be examined and treated. Whatever her personal feelings, April’s safety was paramount—Rex would have demanded nothing less.
And now, she was waiting.
Instead of returning to report what happened in this tomb, she stayed behind and waited.
Just earlier, she contacted Duke Lorcan and learned that he, along with Emperor Dominar, was coming to where she was—at this moment. Something about a powerful distortion that blocked all methods of communication was present earlier, which was why they couldn’t locate her more quickly.
Other than that, the soldiers had also searched every inch of the surroundings.
All for the hope of finding something that would be concrete proof that an Angel was here.
But there was nothing.
Empress Morgana wiped every trace of the Angel’s energy clean.
“I can only convince them using the driver,” She sighed, looking at the far horizon, wondering whether Rex was now safe or not. “But even though they might not believe an Angel caused this, the empress is no doubt going to be the main suspect.”
Swish—!
Three figures emerged from the Black Rift like streaks of light.
Princess Davina stood up, already recognizing two out of the three figures.
Bam—!
Duke Lorcan landed roughly and immediately rushed towards his daughter with clear worry on his face.
“Daughter,” he held Princess Davina’s shoulders tightly and checked on her from head to toe with his eyes. “Are you okay? Did you get hurt anywhere?”
“I’m fine,” She smiled assuringly. “I didn’t get into trouble or anything. You don’t have to worry.”
“Nonsense,” Duke Lorcan snapped—sweeping his sweat-dampened hair back in stress. He had pierced through the Black Rift at a punishing pace to reach her—breathless with urgency. After losing two sons so recently, the thought of losing a daughter was unthinkable. “I could not reach you for hours! How could I not worry?”
“Okay, okay, I wasn’t aware of the distortion,” She raised her hands. “But I’m fine, really.”
Behind Duke Lorcan, Emperor Dominar was giving them time to talk.
Kaine, on the other hand, went to talk with the other soldiers who were present.
He then scanned the surroundings with his sharp eyes, absorbing as much information as possible.
Eventually, Emperor Dominar approached.
His movement was a fluid, silent glide—less a walk than a continuous, undisturbed flow.
“Your Majesty…” Princess Davina bowed and did a curtsy in respect.
“Are you really okay, princess?” He asked with a calm poise. “I can heal anything you might have.”
“No need, Your Majesty. I came here late, so I wasn’t involved in any of this,” She replied truthfully.
Emperor Dominar nodded before shifting his gaze to the destruction that spread across the entire place, scars that were clearly left behind from a vicious battle. “Do you know anything about what happened here, princess?”
“Yes,” Princess Davina nodded firmly. “The empress happened.”
Hearing this, Emperor Dominar’s brows furrowed into a frown, not expecting her to say that so clearly.
Like here was no room for doubt.
Certain that whatever happened here was because of Empress Morgana.
Princess Davina relayed everything she knew to the emperor, starting with the deal Rex made with the empress, and her own suggestion to meet at the Tomb of Heroes for him to claim his reward. She also reported that Rex’s energy was prevalent in the area, but there was no sign of him anywhere.
It was clear that he was ambushed upon his arrival.
Knowing Emperor Dominar had never met Rex in person, Davina emphasized her familiarity with his unique energy signature. Duke Lorcan could also attest to that, as he too sensed Rex’s life energy in the area.
However, the unnerving detail was that there was only Rex’s life energy lingering at the site.
Despite traces of scars made by two people fighting, there was only his trace.
“And then?” Emperor Dominar inquired further. “If that’s the case, what drives the empress from doing something like this? Why does she want to kill this… Rex? She has no shortages in resources. She will not do this for a Phoenix Feather and a demonic weapon.”
Just as expected, the emperor was still defending Empress Morgana.
It wasn’t a surprise.
“I’m not sure, but I’m sure it has something to do with an Angel,” Princess Davina stated.
Such a statement caught Emperor Dominar off guard.
He normally remained calm, like he was above everything, but this statement surprised him.
“An Angel…?”
“Yes. I have a witness. And from his account, I believe an Angel slipped into our realm. Your Majesty is aware that Rex is not from our realm. He’s a powerhouse in the Mortal Realm. Angels possibly exist in that realm, and one of them might hold a vendetta against him.”
Upon hearing this, Emperor Dominar’s body went rigid.
A tremor passed through him before he slowly turned his gaze to the side.
His gaze metKaine’s gaze.
It seemed he was the one in the wrong, and Kaine was the one in the right.
Empress Morgana is a descendant of the Angels, which is a known fact by Emperor Dominar and Kaine, which also strengthened Princess Davina’s conclusion. An Angel bond is strong, so if there are Angels in the Mortal Realm, they could make contact with her.
And that led to this situation.
Knowing Empress Morgana, she wouldn’t do something like this out of nowhere.
An instruction from a full-blooded Angel is a strong reason for her to do this.
“Your Majesty,” Kaine intervened—eyes staring dead into the emperor’s eyes. “I found a hidden room in the treasury that I suspected was made by the empress. That room might be a safehouse to hide the Angel, so this can’t be ignored. She went behind your back for her kind.”
“She…” He stepped forward, voice dropping into a low rumble. “She betrayed the empire for her kind.”
Even though that should be obvious, Emperor Dominar was visibly disturbed by that fact.
Duke Lorcan and Princess Davina didn’t know why he was acting like this.
Both thought the emperor might love the empress too much, and the news struck him hard.
But Kaine knew the real reason.
This incident basically confirmed a far graver truth: Emperor Dominar’s sacred bond with the land had been tampered with. His reaction wasn’t caused by the sentiment he has toward Empress Morgana, but by a fundamental betrayal.
The one connection he had trusted his entire life had become an unreliable, poisoned source.
It was the land that told him to make Morgana empress.
And that was nothing more than the devil’s whisper.
Now, a question lingered in his mind… who can he trust if even the land couldn’t be trusted?
“Okay…” Emperor Dominar finally said with a firm nod, then looked at Kaine again. “You will be in charge of finding the empress and bringing her to me. I want to hear the answer from her own lips. You can use any means necessary to find and bring her back.”
“Your Majesty…” Princess Davina stepped forward, her brows peaked pleadingly.
“Yes,” Emperor Dominar nodded. “You can use my name to deploy forces to find your fiancée.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty,” She bowed gratefully.
In just a few exchanged words, the empire’s peace was shattered, plunging into turmoil.
