The Invincible Full-Moon System - Chapter 1832: Only I

Chapter 1832: Only I
“Does it disturb you?” Rex opened his arms and charged the overflowing power in him.
“Absolutely not,” Linthia shook her head decisively. Her shadowy hair swirled left and right, following the movement of her head almost a second too late. “Nobody can match your growth. I never could be compared to you, that I am aware. But I am one of the few who would always try.”
A smile curled on Rex’s lips.
He liked the answer. That’s the answer befitting of the Clarentium Empire’s future general.
“I suppose you didn’t come here only to congratulate me,” Rex sucked his power back in. Not a single trace of his overflowing energy leaked out. He has perfect control over his aura, even after achieving a higher rank in divinity. “What message did you bring?”
“It’s from the Gatekeeper of Lava, Dorn.”
“Oh…?”
…
“Daughter…” Great Elder Rosa whispered in melancholy.
She was hovering above the backyard of her noble mansion, watching a figure training on the lake and surrounded by darkness. Only the glowing pale purple light from the lake illuminated her figure from below.
Even from where she was, she could see the tears adorning the figure’s face.
It has been days already since the attack on Sky City.
House of Aurelius had been contacting the other noble houses across the land to create a faction that’d welcome Rex when he finally returned. April suggested this, and she was the one who worked tirelessly to make sure this faction grows.
But even with her full focus and her last name, it’s simply hard to grow this faction.
April’s only success was capturing Ethan and detaining him in prison as tribute for Rex.
Now, after another failure, she spent the rest of the day training alone.
Rosa snapped from her stupor when April coughed a mouthful of blood and fell to her knees.
She quickly descended and came to her.
“That’s enough, daughter,” She stood a few steps away. Hands clasped on her stomach in elegance. “It is true that you can replenish your life energy faster, but training this hard is straining your Imbalanced Spiritual Veins. You’re doing more harm to your body than good.”
April gritted her teeth and clutched the grip of her nodachi harder.
“I have to get stronger quickly,” She mumbled whisperingly. “I can’t be fragile.”
“There you go again—talking about being fragile,” Rosa massaged the bridge of her nose. “Who even dares to deem you as fragile after what you’ve gone through? He’s in a league of his own, daughter. It’s best for you to forget about him. He’s only a man.
“Let go of the hope that he’ll return. He won’t. He probably already gone back to his realm,” She added.
Despite what Rosa said, April climbed to her feet and began training again.
It doesn’t matter what the others think.
For as long as there’s a chance Rex might return, she must show him that she’s not fragile.
She’s not ready to give up yet.
And she fervently believed that her feelings—and efforts would reach Rex one way or another. Many would call it hopeful or blind naivety—but she calls it love. It was rare for nobles to feel genuine love, so going this far for Rex is more than worth it.
“Very well…” Rosa sighed. “Do what you want. Just know that he’s still a Mortal Realm dweller. His strength is impressive, but his lifespan is shorter than ours. You can waste a hundred years chasing him if you want, but in the end, you’ll realize it’s all been for nothing.”
Rosa turned to leave.
She already expressed her worries to April.
Now, it was April’s choice to accept it or not. She couldn’t force someone who wouldn’t listen.
April is her daughter, but she’s now old enough to make a choice of her own.
It suddenly felt a little warmer when Rosa floated up to return to her mansion. There was a change in the night’s air. Considering the terrain this bubble was built upon, nighttime should be a lot colder here than in other places.
But tonight is warm.
April stepped backward when the lake’s light suddenly shifted from purple to crimson.
Her eyes widened at this sight.
“I don’t sense his presence any—” Rosa couldn’t finish her sentence when her eyes fixed on a figure.
April followed her gaze and eventually saw the figure emerging from the edge of the garden—meters away from the lake. It was a monster. Fur as dark as the primordial night. A divine mark glowed like a necklace on his chest. And red gems fueled only by anger glowed from his eye sockets.
A monster is the word that would cross others’ minds at this sight.
But what crossed April’s mind was only one name.
“Rex…”
April turned to smugly look at Rosa, proclaiming that she was completely in the right.
Even after everything, Rex wouldn’t abandon her.
“Fancy for you to come,” Great Elder Rosa, bearing the might of a noble descend from the sky. She elegantly stood above ground again—and her eyes narrowed. “This is a cowardly behavior, you realize that, yes?”
“Mom, don’t speak to him like th—”
“Why? Why do I need to hold my tongue? He needs to hear the truth.”
Great Elder Rosa bore her sharp eyes at Rex, who stood motionlessly across from them. His eyes were staring at her steadily, and there was boredom in them. “Do you think you can use my daughter to your heart’s content and leave her? Do you think that after I warned you not to get close to her, you can simply leave? Power is only noble in the hands of men. Not cowards. You’ve crossed the line.”
“I want you to take responsibility. I want you to leave the princess and marry April,” She demanded.
April pulled on her arm, begging her to stop talking like that.
But the words were already said.
She braced herself to turn and look Rex in the eyes. And to her surprise, there were no changes behind his gaze. No emotions at all. Despite his coldness back then, April could tell that it was only a mask that he was temporarily wearing.
Now, it was different.
His coldness was biting to the bones.
Rex’s eyeballs widened to the fullest, and he tilted his head, “It doesn’t matter what you want.”
Both April and Great Elder Rosa were taken aback by his answer.
In the next second, there was an enormous pressure bearing down on them. Making it hard for them to even breathe properly. Great Elder Rosa remained upright, keeping her image despite the turmoil inside, but April was barely holding on.
“Since when did the weak ever have a say in anything?” Rex continued, and the pressure he emanated only kept getting stronger. “That’s not how it works. Look at me and think carefully. You have no claim to any entitlement from me.
“I have the power,” He pointed at himself—and then pointed at them. “You don’t. Only I have a say in anything. Only I can demand things from others. Only I can do whatever I want. But you, Rosa, already know that.
“And you think because I’m young, you can use manipulation to make your false point?” He asked.
Fire in his tongue.
Rex had already made the initiative to come to them on his own, and this is what he got.
He’s not perfect, but Rosa must have thought she got him in the palm of her hand using April as leverage.
“If I am that much of a coward, I wouldn’t have protected her in the Forsaken Tower,” His aura pulsated with more weight, cracking the ground around them, and even creating violent unrest on the lake. “If I’m that much of a coward, I wouldn’t have risked my life from the Immortal Slugs. And if I’m that much of a coward, I wouldn’t have made sure to save her from the execution.”
Crack—!
Everything cracked around them.
Even the forces of House Aurelius came to check, but none could come close.
All of them were blocked by the Law of Misdirection.
Rex approached with deliberate slowness. Each step landed like the footfall of a titan—the ground splintering beneath him, cracks spreading wider with every pace. And with each step closer, the pressure mounted on April and Great Elder Rosa.
Even now, they were barely holding on.
He stood towering over Great Elder Rosa.
On the side, April was whispering something, but her words couldn’t reach Rex.
“You’re the one who crossed the line—Rosa. For demanding things from me. You should be scared of me,” Rex grabbed a handful of Rosa’s hair and tilted her head up, forcing her eyes to meet his. He is below Rosa’s rank, but the presence of a Demigod is crippling. “Because you’ve seen how brutal I can be. You’ve seen how far I’m willing to go to protect those I care about. And yet, you still try your hardest to undermine the benefits of my tendency to protect?”
Rosa still couldn’t find her words.
Her lips moved to say something, but no words came out.
“Do you think you’re safe?” Rex asked menacingly. His hand slid down and wrapped around his neck hard. His claws are biting into her skin. “Do you think I won’t dare kill you? I can take your heart out right now, and if your daughter hates me, I’ll toss her aside as you claim I had.”
After a meaningful pause, Rex shoved her aside and retracted his aura.
His mood is now soured.
Coming here behind Princess Davina’s back was a mistake, and he’s starting to regret it now.
Rex flicked his fingers.
A beam of life energy shot down and carved a crater on the ground.
It was deep enough for a puddle that would reach his shin.
He then cuts off his entire hand and lets the blood spill into the crater, intending to fill it to the brim.
“I once tossed a woman away in the past because hatred blinded me then, and I now know it was wrong,” Rex said as he turned to face them again. “Now, I’ve learned from that mistake. Throwing her aside without giving her a chance is wrong, so now, I’m giving you your only chance.”
Rex was planning to give April a leeway, but now, he didn’t feel like giving it.
So, it’ll be entirely up to her.
Once the crater was filled entirely, Rex’s hand regrew again like it was nothing.
And the amount of blood in this crater easily surpasses the blood he gave to Princess Davina.
Perhaps it was double the amount, which was an insane amount.
“April.” His gaze pinned her where she knelt—a heavy, meaningful look. “You will drink everything in this crater. Every drop. When it’s done, you will go here.” He summoned a parchment from thin air and tossed it aside. It was a map to the Raging Crimson Basin. “You will soak in the blood lake and conquer it. Only then will you be worthy enough to be a part of mine. Until that day, don’t look for me. Don’t expect me. Don’t even hope.”
Rex turned away and gave her one last look over his shoulder.
“This can kill you, so don’t even try if you’re not ready. Also, kill Ethan. I’ve no use for him.”
Once he gave his last message, he leaped away.
His leap was powerful. It launched him far until he disappeared into the horizon.
…
Rex now sat down on a coffin on a circular platform. Everything around him was rubble and scars that his battle against Stelios left behind. He had returned to the Tomb of Heroes since this would be the place he would be meeting with Dorn.
Not too far away, somewhere safe, are Amanir and Devo.
Both were ready to upgrade their aptitudes.
It would still be an hour left until Dorn and his convoy would arrive.
Plenty of time for Rex to collect his scattered thoughts, still planning on what he’ll do once he returns.
Just then, a voice forced him to straighten his spine.
He raised his gaze and saw a person he wasn’t expecting at all standing before him.
