The Invincible Full-Moon System - Chapter 1839: From Deeper Water

Chapter 1839: From Deeper Water
Rex recoiled backward when crushing her heart didn’t kill her.
Her astral voice spooked him.
Forged through countless battles to the death, Rex immediately summoned all three of his Soul Artifacts and activated all of their Spirit Genesis. A golden disk manifested and got in between them. Hard gold exoskeleton draped across his body like a second armor. And then he used the Inevitable Death to grasp Morgana’s brain.
In addition, the Law of Inevitability, Misdirection, and Foresight was also activated.
The Law of Inevitability made sure that any attacks that she threw at him would miss. His second Law, the Law of Misdirection, made sure that any energy she used would fail to gather. And lastly, the Law of Foresight made sure he could see any possible attacks she could launch.
Nothing would surprise him.
Rex placed as much distance between them to get away.
He trusted the System enough to consider this a massive threat.
At the decisive moment, time slowed down to a snail’s pace.
Rex could hear his own heartbeat pounding against his ears, and also his shallow breaths that were weak and uneven against his ribs. His eyes stayed locked on Morgana with full focus, making sure he kept her in his field of view.
His body also shifted and twisted into its monstrous form.
If he wanted as many chances to survive, then he would need to be in his werewolf form.
And it was then that Morgana finally moved.
She didn’t make an explosive movement like he thought she would.
Doesn’t even summon her power to break through the energies separating them.
Instead, she simply hovered forward like a ghost.
Rex’s breath was stuck in his throat as he watched Morgana phased through the Aegis of Moon Sentinel. Even as Rex changed the use of the Law of Misdirection and Inevitability to make sure that she couldn’t get too close, she simply phased through them.
As if she were operating outside of reality.
His Law of Foresight couldn’t see any pre-emptive movements as she approached.
Even his third Law was also totally useless.
Rex tried crushing the blood-brain that was formed by the Inevitable Death in his hand, but it wouldn’t budge. Something he couldn’t see turned it into an indestructible rock, making it impossible for him to crush it with his raw strength alone.
Even with putting every last ounce of his strength to crush it, the blood-brain endured.
More notifications flooded his vision.
But he already ran out of time.
Morgana was already upon him, and she reached out her hand towards him.
Her fingers seeped into his chest, and Rex was forced to suck in a cold breath when her fingers wrapped around his beating heart. As he felt the cold fingers, his body froze involuntarily, rendering him utterly helpless and exposed.
It was a different kind of helplessness than he was accustomed to.
At this moment, he wasn’t even allowed to exert all his strength. His body wouldn’t listen to him.
“Misery…” She whispered hauntingly. “Be thou undone.”
Rex flinched when her hand squeezed his heart.
He could feel each heartbeat becoming more painful than the last. Blood leaked out of his mouth—and everything was darkening. Dying is a familiar feeling, but this felt way more than dying. It felt as if his soul was also erased.
<Warning: a higher form of chaos energy is infiltrating the user’s body!>
<All enhancements have been nullified!>
<Reverting the user’s form back to normal>
<Be advised, the user’s physical body and soul will completely disappear in one minute!>
<It’s recommended to use the Invincible II item>
Even through the blur, he could read the notification fine and decided to heed it without hesitation.
Damn the other Scions.
If they knew about his sudden spike of power, a lot of things could go wrong, but none would be worse than dying like he was about to right now if he didn’t use the Invincible II item. But mid-thought, Rex’s eyes caught sight of movement from the side.
A figure appeared a few steps to the right.
She immediately took action, wrapping her arms around Morgana’s extended arm.
Surges of power pulsed into the arm, paralyzing it completely.
And the second after, Rex blinked and noticed Morgana’s body had turned more solid and real. Like the form she took earlier was nothing more than an astral projection of her real one. Now, she’s bound to the real world.
“Crush it now!” Nivellen exclaimed urgently. “Do it now!”
Rex shook his head and tightened his grip. The blood-brain wasn’t as hard as it was earlier, but slippery and yielding like real flesh. Like how it was supposed to be. He crushed it, and the moment he did, the blood-brain burst into brain matter and gore.
And behind Morgana’s eyes, the anarchy that once seized them finally disappears.
Only then did the purple light disappear completely.
Not wanting to take any chances after what happened, Rex pierced his claws into her chest and tore her into two parts brutally. Her body was ripped open and turned the cold-stone ground into a bloody mess, one that would make anyone sick at the sight.
But Rex has no time to care for that.
He crumpled to his knees and panted, cold sweat trickling down the side of his face.
“I know you are reckless, but that’s beyond mindless,” Nivellen said while looking down at him.
She knew Rex’s temper.
She knew that his anger was usually the driving factor of his actions.
But he rarely took a stupid approach, choosing to articulate a perfect scenario where his anger would shine better. This time, however, was a really stupid move on his part. “What was in your mind? What do you even hope to achieve by hesitating like that? That thing certainly came from the deeper part of the Chaos Realm. Nothing but bad things would befall you for even meeting it.”
Rex didn’t answer.
He focused on regulating his breath and checked for internal wounds from the exchange.
“Chaos corrupted me. That alone should make you aware of how dangerous that realm is,” Nivellen’s eyes narrowed. There is clear frustration and anger in her voice. “Never hesitate against Chaos. Never show mercy. You went through all that trouble to save me. Do you want it to happen again?”
“Aren’t you supposed to be lying low?” Rex asked without looking. “Don’t appear out of nowhere. I can handle things.”
Nivellen stared at him in disbelief.
She came knowing that things could’ve gotten bad.
If he dies by Chaos, then not even his soul would survive, so he would die for good.
And yet this is his response to her.
“You are not thinking straight.” Nivellen was already fading—slipping from the realm before anyone could notice. “But listen carefully. Use your divinity—cleanse yourself, inside and out. And once you’ve collected yourself…” Her body vanished entirely, but her voice lingered. “I hope you will do the right thing.”
Rex slid backward until his back was against the wall.
Now that Morgana is dead, the portal was starting to disappear, so that’s the end of that matter.
His bloodied hand seized his own features, knuckles whitening as he gritted his teeth against the turmoil.
“What the hell am I doing?” Rex mumbled inwardly.
For one, Nivellen saved him from needing to use the Invincible II item and attract the Scions’ attention. He should at least acknowledge that with a sliver of gratitude, but he didn’t. Instead, he dismissed her concern like it was nothing.
But right now, his mind was weighed down heavily.
Nivellen is now cured from chaos corruption, so his mind naturally moved on from her and fixed on the other person who still needed his help. Edward. Unlike Nivellen, he knew absolutely nothing about Edward’s current condition.
How is he in the Chaos Realm? Is he perhaps searching for a way out? Can he still endure?
Is he even alive?
Rex knew nothing, and that desperation forced his mind to connect false cues to align with him.
Chaos appeared, and the first thing he thought was that Edward was trying to reach him.
Edward was stranded—lost in some foreign realm where nothing good exists, likely enduring torment at this very moment. The idea that he’d somehow bridged the gap to the Spirit Realm was a stretch at best.
Instead of him, the likelihood of another entity being the cause of this incident was far greater.
And Rex should’ve known better than cling to his false hope.
“Damn it, man,” Rex gripped his face harder. His sharp claws unconsciously scratched his skin, making new scars over his face. “At least tell me—you’re fucking fine. That you can endure more. Back in the Noob Box, you’re the one who squealed the most like a little girl.”
…
Days passed ever since then.
One surprise that awaited Rex when he returned to the hideout was the news from Varya.
She said that she lost several connections from the Shade Crawlers that were further away from her, the ones who weren’t transformed into a Silverstar. It happened around the time when Rex was still dealing with Morgana, so there can only be one explanation.
And the System also said it was plausible.
When the entity that had possessed Morgana reached into his body and soul with her power, she found more than only him. She located everyone close to him and tied their bodies and souls together into a bundle with his.
It was probably why there was a momentary pause when the entity was crushing his heart.
Rex thought the entity was a sadistic one, but turns out, it was a chilling one.
Having the power to locate and kill many people at once made her incredibly terrifying.
Fortunately, the Shade Crawlers, who are now Silverstars, were near Varya.
And because of that, their bodies and souls are stronger.
Those things allowed them to survive a few more seconds until Nivellen stepped in.
Unfortunately, there are several Shade Crawlers who couldn’t last long enough and got their bodies and souls shattered. He wanted to turn the rest of them into pack members, but it seemed he couldn’t really do that anymore.
Other than that, Amanir and Devo were still cramped up with Dorn.
Some, like Davina and Liliana, for instance, told him to be present during the process. And from their point of view, it was simply the only move. After all, nobody knew whether Dorn would slip bad things into Devo and Amanir to screw them over later.
But that wasn’t a problem for Rex.
In fact, he dared Dorn to try and do that as the System would surely pick those irregularities up.
And that would truly be the end of Rex’s relationship with this realm.
Not to mention, Rex also doesn’t have the time.
He spent days inside the Black Rift and hunted down hordes of voidal monsters across the land. Each horde that was marked by the Shade Crawlers was tracked down and slaughtered. Gold started to pile in the System rapidly.
Nine-hundred and seventy million gold sounded like an extreme amount.
But with the Shade Crawlers and his inexhaustible stamina, that number meant little more than a few days’ work. Rex now sat atop a mountain of corpses—thousands upon thousands of torn and mangled bodies, stacked high.
The stench was horrific, yet it was perfume for Rex’s werewolf form.
Going around to commit slaughter was incredibly refreshing.
He managed to satiate his frustration, and now he is far calmer than he was before.
“Your Majesty.” Linthia hovered before him, unfazed by the stench. “Davina and Lilliana are about to depart. They are going to rally the scattered empire forces. Is there anything you wish to say to them— before they depart? Or a message for someone else?”
“You meant Althea?” Rex chuckled at the thought. “She’s a brat. Let her shimmer in her own anger.”
He then flicked his fingers, and Alana manifested.
“You call for me?” She asked.
“Tell Kei Xun to back Davina and Lilliana. Make sure the empire falls under their rule,” Rex instructed. He wanted the Haeltara Empire to be a vassal to the Clarentium Empire, so he needed those two to be big figures. “Pressure the Crown Prince to be on their side.”
“As you wish,” Alana bowed respectfully and disappeared again.
Rex stood up and looked into the horizon, “Now, I think it’s time to return home.”
