The Invincible Full-Moon System - Chapter 1857: Time to Hunt

Chapter 1857: Time to Hunt
Caspian stared at Zev through the lens of his Law of Battle.
His power of law provides him with the inherent ability to be exceptional in battle, be it techniques or even genius-level intuition. It allowed his body to gain two—or even three times more experience when battling, gaining unnatural speed of insight into his fighting style and weaknesses.
But more than that, he could also gain the uncanny ability to sense his odds in battle.
It only took into account the target’s combat abilities, not magical prowess.
Green means his odds of winning are high, brown means mediocre, and red means low probability.
Caspian didn’t rely on that ability too much to gauge the other side—but he did use it to see whether he should base his offense in hand-to-hand combat. So far, only those who are far older than he have better close-quarter combat prowess than he.
However, lately, with the growing power of his law, another effect emerged.
His senses became sharper.
And right now, his senses were screaming at him.
’Odd…’ Caspian’s brows knitted together. His Law of Battle could see that Zev’s aura is green, which was as expected, since Zev isn’t that skilled in close-quarter combat. ’It’s clear that I am stronger than him, but why are my senses telling me otherwise? Does he have a trick up his sleeve?’
Just then, the wind shifted.
Caspian and his friends turned at the sound of rustling coming from their sides.
It was only then that they sensed more figures hiding in the shadows.
“Using your slaves to attack us?” Caspian sneered, finding this feeble trap to be reckless—more than anything. “You’re breaking every rule there is. Are you not afraid of the consequences? This is going to be far worse for you.”
“I’m sorry,” Zev clenched his hands. “But they’re not my slaves.”
“Hmm…?!”
Swoosh—!
Both of them noticed tendrils emerging from the ground, trying to reach for their ankles.
Instinctively, they leapt and folded their legs to avoid being caught.
A figure reached behind in an instant.
Her presence was light as a feather. Not even making any sound with her steps, and she was incredibly quick. At the time the two glanced over their shoulders to glimpse the woman, an elegant, spinning kick struck their backs.
“Spirit Genesis,” Lilliana stretched her hand, and her Soul Artifact responded. “Seamless Thread Lock.”
Upon her chant, the two saw it at the same moment.
Thin as spider silk. Glistening like morning frost under the moonlight. Threads, dozens of them, lashed through the air in a dizzying lattice, weaving themselves into existence faster than the normal eye could track.
Each crisscrossed with intent. Each one hummed with a sharpness that made the skin crawl.
Life energy infused these threads, which made them realize who they were facing.
As soon as they landed, the threads contracted.
In seconds, the threads had sealed them at the center. A cage of light and razor edges.
The other quickly slammed his hands into the ground, creating an earth-colored barrier that blocked the threads from clamping down on their flesh. But at the same time, another figure emerged in the sky like a dancing star.
Both of their eyes locked onto Davina as she summoned and held a glowing sphere in her hand.
It looked like she was holding a star from how bright it was.
She gathered immense life energy, more than anyone of her rank had any right to possess. It pooled in her hands, dense and blinding, coalescing into a star too bright to look at. And with a forceful grunt that shook the air around her, she threw the star at them.
A trail of light followed the star as it tore downward.
By the time it reached the pair, it was no longer a thrown condensation of energy.
It was a falling star that created a sharp whistle as it came down.
And the impact was devastation.
Kaboom—!
A massive, one-mile radius explosion detonated, swallowing everything in the area.
Even Davina herself was thrown backward.
She landed right beside Lilliana, who finally managed to plant her feet and endure the aftershock.
“Do you really need to be that excessive, sister?” Lilliana asked—as she crossed her hands, protecting herself from the rushing wave of energy.
“I wasn’t planning to make it that big.” Davina stood upright, taking the aftershock with her body like it was nothing. “He must’ve done something to me. I don’t ever remember having this much destructive power with that small amount of life energy.”
Lilliana shook her head.
Only her sister would refer to the life energy she used earlier as a small amount.
Many others wouldn’t even match her life energy even if they poured everything they had.
“I hope those slaves wouldn’t attack us,” Lilliana mumbled. “You destroyed many of those flowers, I bet.”
“No, they wouldn’t,” Davina recalled the conversation of these Godlings. “Slaves don’t get mad at their masters.”
Once the smoke cleared, the devastation came into view.
Everything was flattened, turning the meadow into a charred and scarred land.
However, it was rapidly healing, returning to normal.
Across from them, Caspian and his companion stood untouched. Not a scratch. Not even a subtle shift in posture. Around them, the barrier had transformed: a steel dome. Its top gaped open where Davina’s attack had punched through.
But beneath that hole, there was no devastation.
Her attack hadn’t reached them.
“Oh, would you look at that,” the guy cooed when he realized the people attacking them turned out to be two top-notch beauties. His lips curled upward into a lecherous grin as he eyed Davina and Lilliana up and down. “Sisters? Lucky us, Caspian.”
“Don’t tell me you’re pressured by these girls, Zev,” Caspian turned to Zev on the other side. He could not hold back his laughter. “To think that you’d be bullied by these low-born from the Spirit Realm. I’m really disappointed.”
Zev was supposed to be angry. Supposed to lash out at the insult.
But instead, he remained silent.
Caspian ignored him and turned his attention back to the girls.
“I’ll tell you what,” He walked forward, arms teasingly raised in a surrendering posture. “If both of you surrender to us right now and be our slaves, I’ll spare you. Don’t worry, we’ll not make you Gardeners. At least, not Gardeners here, but our bedrooms.”
“Shame.” Lilliana straightened, her gaze settling on them like one might regard soiled laundry. “Both of you, born in a realm so strong and yet, not an ounce of class between you.” She tilted her head, pity dripping from every syllable. “I suppose it’s the same everywhere. Some are born nobles. Some are born peasants. Realms don’t change that.”
“Bitch,” Caspian’s face turned dark, “the fuck you say to me?”
“Am I wrong?” She tilted her head slightly—almost daring Caspian to refute her. “If you want a woman who isn’t interested in you, buy her a flower. Coo her. Display your color. Leave the petty demand to the barbarians.”
“What about you?” the other guy asked. “Do you want to die, too, like your sister?”
“I’m engaged,” Davina shook her head. “You’ll have to go through my fiancée first if you want me.”
“Hah,” He snorted. “And where is this fiancé of yours? Back in your small realm?”
“No,” She raised her hand and pointed at them. “He’s right there behind you.”
At what she said, Caspian and his friend froze.
Both of them wanted to laugh at what she said. It was obvious that she was lying. Neither of them could sense anything behind. No weight or even a trace of a presence on their backs. Just empty air and silence, which should make it obvious that she was lying.
Then, they focused harder.
And they finally heard it.
Something is breathing heavily and very close. So close it should’ve been warm against their necks.
Only then did the color drain from their faces in unison.
Someone actually got to their backs!
Almost like their minds acted as one, Caspian and his friend pivoted their body with lethal precision and struck the person standing behind them. One did a spinning backfist, while the other tried to sweep the legs with a dragon sweep.
Both were trained in martial arts.
However, their attacks that were infused with the unknown energy were blocked.
Rex simply raised an arm to block the backfist and kicked the sweeping leg away like it was nothing.
At the realization that Rex wasn’t an easy opponent, the two dashed to safety, putting as much distance between them. “State your name—and origin!” the other guy roared, summoning a curved blade in his shaking hand. “Do you think you can act brazenly here?!”
“Are you a Scion of the Vertex?” Rex raised a brow.
“A Scion?” the other guy frowned. “What are you talking about?! Speak properly!”
“No? In that case,” Rex elongated his claws, stretching them long enough to strike fear into their hearts. “I can act brazenly.”
“Tch!” the other guy readied his curved blades—preparing to fight these fools. “Let’s take him out first. I’m sure those girls and Zev wouldn’t be able to resist us once he’s down. I don’t know how he got right behind us, but he made a mistake by not punishing us for that. What do you think?”
“…”
“Caspian?”
Gaining no answer, the guy glanced at Caspian and saw fear and shock on his face.
Caspian’s face was as pale as a sheet of paper, and he stared at Rex as if he were staring at death in the eyes. ’Not possible…’ He swallowed harshly, eyes widening in terror. ’How? I’ve never seen someone as red as him before.’
From the lens of his Law of Battle, Caspian could see the dark red aura that surrounded Rex.
It was so dark that it was almost black.
He had trained for centuries—and even had a good amount of real battle experience. Hundreds of years of sweat and blood. With the Law of Battle coursing through him, his combat prowess should rank among the highest.
Only those with thousands of years in the crucible could claim to be better.
And even then, he’d make them work for it.
But this figure before him right now far exceeded his close-combat abilities.
Someone from the Spirit Realm shouldn’t be able to match him at all.
Someone from the Spirit Realm made the Law of Battle predict that he’d lose badly.
“What’s the matter?” Rex gestured for them to come to him with his hand. His daunting smile reflected the malice he was about to unleash. “Didn’t you say you wanted those two? If you kill me, then there’s nothing stopping you from getting them.
“Besides, those two like only the strong ones. I’m sure they’d be willing after you kill me.” He added.
“Don’t mind if I do, then!” The guy lowered his stance, about to dash.
Charmed by the beauty of the two sisters, he couldn’t help but lick his lips as he was more than happy to take Rex down if that’s the price to get them. ’I don’t care who you are in the lower realms,’ the guy’s eyes flashed with contempt. ’But here, even emperors should bow their heads to me!’
But before he could, Caspian already turned the other way and escaped.
He didn’t say anything and instantly ran.
“Caspian, what the fuck?!” the guy roared, surprised that his friend would ditch him like this. “What in the world is wrong with you?!”
Realizing that he was completely outnumbered, the guy gritted his teeth and ran after Caspian.
