The Invincible Full-Moon System - Chapter 1859: Demigod Hunting (2)

Chapter 1859: Demigod Hunting (2)
Like him, the Godling is an Awakened Demigod.
Rex was quite sure that this Godling was someone born within the God Realm since his own divine points, which should be the same as divine strands, are higher. It must be the determining factor as to why this Godling could survive such a barrage of vicious attacks.
What are the other ways I can use to increase my divine strands? Through the Silverstar Genesis?
<Does the user want to purchase the information for 10 million gold?>
Go ahead.
<Notice: the user can increase divine strands through myriad ways, but the most common and also effective method is to develop a unique method, via the entity’s own realm. In the user’s case, via the Silverstar Genesis.>
Hmm, I see… Devouring others is probably the method that suited me best.
If he could somehow make devouring Demigods also provide him with divine strands other than exp, he’d be set to grow—even stronger in the God Realm. Breaking through in divinity would be far easier with it.
However, right now, he has no intention of doing that.
I came here to ransack the Blood Moon. What can taste better than stealing Kaiser’s divinity?
“I don’t like this.”
Davina crossed her arms, staring at the regeneration Godling with a clear frown.
Initially, Rex thought she was worried about the regeneration, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Her face showed annoyance more than concern.
“Don’t like what?”
“My explosion should be stronger than whatever you did, but it only leaves behind superficial burn. It doesn’t make sense. I didn’t go all-out, but I did use my Law and Echo into that explosion.”
“Does that bother you so much?” Rex asked, but he got a glare from her instead, making him clear his throat to clarify. “It’s because I have more divine strands than you. Everything in the God Realm heavily depends on the number of divine strands that dictate one’s divinity.
“He has higher divinity than us, so he took less damage from our attacks.”
“I see,” Davina nodded, but that doesn’t seem to make her feel any better. “Is that what the odd energy that entered me after you turned Lilliana?”
“Yes,” Rex confirmed.
He only placed Davina and Lilliana into the inner pack so that they would have some divine strands.
Possessing no divine strands upon entering the God Realm would mean they are going to be helpless. Not only would they be extremely vulnerable to attacks from Godlings, but their attacks would also deal no damage to the Godlings.
Rex brought them to help him, so it’s essential for them to enter the inner pack first.
“And before you ask, I’ll tell you all about it later,” Rex averted his gaze, focusing back on the Godling.
He could see the same hunger for strength behind Davina’s eyes.
In the face of a new source of power like divine strands, she couldn’t help but be curious.
One could see genuine interests behind her eyes, which was a stark contrast to the others.
For Evelyn, Adhara, and Gistella, power had become synonymous with darkness and weight—and that was mostly Rex’s fault. They had watched him grow stronger rapidly. Watched him climb the ranks of power. And with their own eyes, they had seen nothing good ever come out of it.
Only survival. Only more weight. Only the ability to keep breathing in a world that keeps trying to kill.
Everything only escalated even more.
His negativity rubbed off on them, and it shows.
But Davina was different.
Like him, she has been aspiring to grow stronger and stronger.
As a noble, she also lived in a world where the weak are devoured, and it shows.
She looked most excited when it came to something like this.
“Shall we end him?” Rex held his neck and cracked it.
“Sure,” Davina agreed, and her eyes glowed with a mischievous light. “I also want to try something.”
On the other hand, the Godling panted heavily.
’I’m losing against someone from the Mortal Realm…? Me? Losing?’ He thought inside, body shaking from the rage at what was happening. ’I should’ve impaled him earlier, but what was that power? I can’t sense his power!’
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.
It was supposed to be those from the lower planes that couldn’t feel his energy, not the other way around.
And yet, he couldn’t sense how Rex stopped the spear.
His head was spinning. It took a lot out of him to lower his gaze—and even when he managed to stare ahead, his vision was flickering like someone was playing with the brightness of the world. But he could clearly see the silhouette of Rex emerging from the smoke.
An approaching pair of crimson eyes.
For anyone who passes by this scene, one would be confused as to which one among them was born in this realm.
Seeing the arrogant face that emerged from the shadow made the Godling lose it.
In a snap, his eyes scoured the area and met with a Gardener of Zev—who had been watching from the safety of distance. “You!” the Godling pointed at the Gardener. “I am a son of the Montrax Clan, and I demand that you help me take out this animal!”
Despite the commanding tone, the Gardener didn’t move.
“If you don’t help me right now—” He spat the words, eyes wild with rage. “Your families. Your friends. Your children.” His voice climbed higher, cracking into a desperate roar. “If you don’t help me RIGHT NOW—!”
He stopped mid-sentence.
Even with his threat, the Gardener simply shuddered and hid behind the wall.
Zev must’ve told them to stand down, and as a slave, they have no opinion in this matter other than to serve and obey. Even if their master was doing something illegal and wrong, slaves had no right to say no.
The Godling wanted to promise more, but the gardener had already disappeared.
He was alone again.
“Do you have any final words?”
Rex’s voice echoed like the stroke of death, pulling the Godling’s attention like steel to a magnet.
He gritted his teeth.
“Don’t give me that bullshit right now!” the Godling summoned—another invisible spear. His wounds are still regenerating, and his breaths were still labored, but the fire of defiance never waned from his eyes. “You haven’t won yet! I still have a chance!”
“Chance?” Rex laughed—like he heard the funniest joke in his life. “Where is your chance of winning? Is it really here with us? Why can’t I smell it?!”
CRACK—!
From above, an enormous, blinding lightning descended.
Thunder followed a heartbeat behind, shaking the very air. The bolt branched mid-descent, splitting into three separate heads that struck three different parts of the Godlings. His arms and torso were locked as the branches bit into his skin.
Electricity coursed through him in violent waves, paralyzing him completely.
He couldn’t move. Couldn’t retaliate. Couldn’t back his own words.
Rex dashed.
His claws drilled into the Godling’s stomach, aiming to carve out his intestines—but the iron skin of an Awakened Demigod is more durable than Rex anticipated. Even the full force of his swing only pushed his claws two inches deep.
Too shallow.
A roar escaped the Godling’s mouth as he fired the invisible spear.
Once again, the Absolute Anger Effect stopped it.
Rex grabbed the back of the Godling’s head and slammed it down directly into his rising knee, shattering a few bones in his face as he staggered backward. But Rex didn’t stop. He gave the Godling no chance to recover as he struck again at the same, exact spot.
His claws sank deeper and reached the Godling’s internal organs.
In the next second, the Godling grabbed his wrists.
“Don’t underestimate me!” He roared with a hoarse voice; blood gushing out of his mouth, gorily.
Boom—!
Foreign energy drilled into Rex’s skin and mangled his energy flow inside, overwhelming him.
It was stronger than anticipated.
Fortunately, Rex never underestimated his opponent.
Just then, the Godling’s breath was caught in his throat when he sensed another figure coming straight at him. Davina dashed in from the side in a blur and reached behind the Godling. And before he could react, she opened her maw, boasting her now-long canines, and sank them into the Godling’s throat.
She ripped out a big chunk of flesh with a sudden snapping motion.
“As he said,” She whispered tenderly. “You’re already dead. You don’t know it yet.”
“W-Wh—arghkk”
Once the Godling choked, Rex was freed, and he immediately plunged his hand deeper and reached up.
He grabbed the Godling’s neck and pulled it out.
“I’ll be taking this,” Rex showed the heart he pulled at the Godling’s eyes. “You can die now.”
Like a marionette that had its strings cut, the Godling dropped to his knees before falling sideways.
Even an Awakened Demigod couldn’t survive having its heart carved out.
Rex devoured the heart like it was a delicacy, munching on the organ and savoring the blood. The heart is the body’s engine, while blood is the fuel. When his teeth sank in, the blood burst across the roof of his mouth.
The blood is still warm.
And the combination created a satisfying and tasty sensation.
As if this was exactly what he meant to consume.
He had known the heart was the best part, but Varya and the Shade Crawlers made him realize it more.
<Devoured Inhabitants: 1 / 10>
Rex closed his eyes and revelled in the sensation that overwhelmed his senses from within.
He made sure to activate the new Nigh-Divine Adaptation skill to digest the heart he had consumed.
Every trait that was written inside the heart’s framework. Every line. Every secret coded in divine flesh. It was analyzed via the skill, and Rex’s body adapted. Changed. Evolved in ways too small to see, but would be impossible to ignore soon enough.
He breathed in, and suddenly, he finally sensed it.
An energy. Subtle. Present in the air where nothing had been seconds ago.
Rex couldn’t name it yet, but he could now feel it.
It must be the foreign energy that he couldn’t sense now becoming accessible to him.
Through the Nigh-Divine Adaptation skill, Rex’s body would adapt to feel and use the dominant energy within the God Realm. However, it wouldn’t be permanent. Fortunately for him, the Sudden Quest was there to mitigate that weakness.
At least for the foreign energy part.
But he got more than that from the Godling.
<Steel Oustification framework has been detected>
<Notice: the user has temporarily obtained Minor Steel Oustification>
<The user can enhance all abilities with it to greatly amplify piercing power and divinity>
<Adaptation Duration: 1 hour>
Not that long. Is it because the gap in divinity is too wide?
Rex looked down at the corpse of the Godling.
Or I should devour all of him? The description stated that the amount of flesh poses a factor in the duration.
Just then, his eyes caught sight of Davina on the side. She was covering her mouth with her hand, but it wasn’t enough to hide the blood that drizzled from her lips down to her chin. It was only then that Rex recalled that she had ripped the Godling’s throat with her canines.
An act that would be entirely new and savage for someone like her—a new Werewolf and a noble.
“Is that the thing you wanted to try?” He asked.
“Hmm, hmm,” Davina nodded eagerly, practically bouncing. She knew that werewolves are beast who devoured flesh and blood alike, and she wanted to know if that’s really how she was. “I was reluctant to even try. I’ve been around blood my whole life, and most of the time I was disgusted.”
She paused, something shifting in her expression. “But now… I think I’m really now just a Spirit anymore. And I understand why you like eating your fallen enemies,”
Seeing the subtle curl on her lips as she put her hand down carved hard lines on Rex’s forehead.
For a second, he stared at her profoundly.
This is not going to be a problem, right?
