The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse - Chapter 1204: Race Against Time

Chapter 1204: Race Against Time
King Velarion looked at his son and sighed.
Kael turned to his father and asked, “Dad, do you think we can repair this crack?”
King Velarion let a smile appear on his face before answering, “Nothing is impossible, Kael. We are making sure everything comes together eventually.”
“I see. That is good then,” Kael went back to staring at the crack for a brief moment before asking a question, “When you say we, do you mean all five kingdoms, right?”
King Velarion nodded, causing Kael to frown. “I thought we hated the other four kingdoms. I, for one, hate the Zephyrax; those insects killed Mdin.”
One could tell Kael truly hated the Zephyrax from his expression.
King Velarion patted his son on the shoulder and gave him a gentle squeeze. “Listen, son. Sometimes, when there is no other choice, your enemy becomes your ally, for when it all comes crashing down, there is nothing like an ally and an enemy.
I have lived since the dawn of time and have seen many powerhouses rise and fall. So trust me, when it comes to knowing when to put one hand away for a good cause, all animosity can be put aside.
Of course, once the collective task has been accomplished, we can go back to hating each other.”
Kael gritted his teeth, but then a sigh escaped his lips.
“You are right, Father. I just have so much resentment toward the Zephyrax that I failed to see the bigger picture. I will work on my emotions better next time.”
“No need to think too much, Kael. Our emotions are what make us who we are. I have lived for millions of years, yet I still feel love and hate. I feel all other emotions, and yet people see me as the pinnacle of all beings.
So have your emotions run wild; however, keep your mind on task and know when to make which decision that, at the end of the day, will yield the best results.”
Kael nodded. “Thanks for the teaching, Dad. I will do well to remember everything.”
After saying that, Kael looked at the crack one more time before turning to leave. “Mom said you shouldn’t stay too long. It took me 300 years to get here, so perhaps come back before my birthday, in 200 years
“Tell her I will be attending a meeting with the other four leaders in a few years’ time, so she should expect me 50 years before your birthday.”
After hearing his father’s response, Kael left and began descending the mountain that had taken him 300 years just to climb.
Only this time, it would take him less than ten years to descend.
After he was gone, King Velarion smiled weakly, then he turned and looked at the crack one more time. “Everything is possible if you are determined enough.”
King Velarion muttered, recalling a time he traveled outside his world to explore and gain outside knowledge.
It was a time when he could afford to have a few moments of respite and travel the universe.
On that journey, he happened to witness a battle between a young man who was merely a True Immortal, but he faced off against Immortal Monarchs and Lords.
He watched the young man go against the odds, his expression determined. After the young man took care of the last of them, he decided to have a talk with him.
As a Celestial, he couldn’t help but be mesmerized by how this young man was able to kill dozens of Immortal Lords.
When he asked how he did it, the young man’s reply was one he would never forget… “Everything is possible if you are determined enough.”
Now, as his world was facing an extinction event, he couldn’t help but recall the famous words of that young man.
After standing atop the mountain for 7 more years, he waved his hand, and a portal opened. He walked through it and appeared on another mountain where four other Celestial beings were seated on large stones waiting for him.
After he settled down, he scanned the faces of the four Celestial beings before he started speaking. “I have calculated that in the next 200,000 years, the void will open and consume every last soul.
Not even we Celestials will be able to resist. So we can only find a way to stop the void from opening. In other words, we must find a way to close the void from ever opening.”
The faces of the four other Celestials turned dull.
“What do you propose?” King Gorath Maulbane, the leader of the Vor’rahn, asked.
King Velarion sighed and raised his finger. “There are two solutions, of which we must implement both. I may have said locking the void is a way to protect our fragile lives; however, it goes beyond that.
So, to be able to keep living and to hold on to the fragile hope we have, we can only pray we will be able to handle both solutions, for one wouldn’t work without the other.”
“Go ahead, Velarion. It is not like we have any other choice,” King Xerath Vaen said. He is the king of the Zephyrax.
“First, we must create a gate that will hold back the void from opening in this world. It has already infested our world, preventing us from leaving.
So, if we can’t leave, then we might as well lock it.
However, we both know locking the void is not possible. It will always find a way to slip into this world and infest us like a parasite.
So, we need a way to call for help. This method will require all five of us to forcefully send some people out to look for help.
However, to do that, we need to borrow the power of the void. This will be dangerous, perhaps even call our doom, but I know for a fact that even if we perish, we will be able to lock the void and prevent it from consuming this universe.”
The four Celestials nodded.
They assigned King Velarion to develop a plan simply because he was the most qualified. Now he had brought the plan to them, and what remained was a way to implement it.
“Building a void gate, huh. Sounds ominous,” a beautiful lady said in a seductive tone. She is the leader of the Xynoth.
She looked into King Velarion’s face and smiled, then asked, “I believe you already have a way to implement this plan.”
King Velarion indeed had a plan. He was the one with the most understanding of the void among the five of them.
“I do have a plan on how to implement our plans. However, I will need all four of you to pull it off. Also, you each will have to form a team of immortals. They will be the ones to go outside and seek help.
Of course, I know that not all of them will make it, for even I am not confident I can make it through the Void Channel that we will be opening. However, since they are much weaker, perhaps the heavens wouldn’t bear down on them much.
It will be a race against time.”
“Hateful heavens,” the last Celestial, Empress Vaelira Lumerai, said, gritting her teeth. The other four Celestials wore the same hateful expression.
—
Klaus opened his eyes, sweat dripping off his body.
“Klaus, are you alright?” Hanna’s voice entered his ear, snapping his mind back to reality. He had just seen something that could potentially result in the annihilation of the universe.
His mind — all 450 of them — was now a mess.
