The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse - Chapter 1206: First Paragon Quest

Chapter 1206: First Paragon Quest
Klaus may not have realised he had been out for 7 years, which, if their calculations were right, meant 7 months had already passed on the outside.
However, now that he knew how long had passed, he decided to put the matter of what he had seen when he used the Void Crystal to bed and focus on what he could handle now.
He had many nagging feelings that kept telling him he must handle the issue with his body and grow stronger much faster.
He could not afford to slack off.
If the Void had indeed opened a second gate, then he must find a way to defeat the heavens fast and gather an army, for it is going to be an extinction event.
For now, he turned to the paragon system to check out the messages he had received during the 7 years he was out.
However, just when he opened the window, the first message he saw was one he never knew possible. ’This isn’t true, right?’
Klaus opened the message, and as he saw, it was indeed a quest—a paragon quest, to be precise.
’This is strange.’
’Icon, you wouldn’t happen to know a thing about this, would you?’ Klaus asked his one and only assistant, who also seemed puzzled like he was.
⟪I do not know where this quest came from, master. All I know is, just when you threw the Void Crystal into the Void Vortex and were transported away, this quest arrived, and even I had no way to stop it.
Maybe it came with the Void Crystal. Maybe it came from the universe or even the heavens. Either way, you now have it and can only follow it if you want to unravel the mysteries of the void region.⟫
’I see. In any case, thank you for the assistance while I was out.’ Icon was the one who protected his mind from getting overrun.
⟪I am only doing my job, master. No need to thank me.⟫
Klaus nodded and turned to the quest he had received.
⟪You have received a new quest⟫
⟪Mysteries of the Void⟫
⟪Description: The Lost World came about so the rest of the universe could see the light of day. Their sacrifice sealed away the horrors of the void, allowing the innocent to live in peace.
However, nothing stays sealed forever, just as no gate can remain shut for all eternity.
You must learn the mysteries of the void by conquering all 12 Void Vortexes and finding the 12 Void Crystals.
For every Void Vortex conquered, it becomes yours to use at will.⟫
⟪Void Crystals: [1/12]⟫
’Hmm… This sounds like a recipe for disaster.’ Klaus didn’t have to be told twice that this was a bad idea. Of course, he wanted to know about what happened to the Void Gate.
He wanted to find out how King Velarion and his people managed to seal it. He wants to find out whether they were able to send people out to ask for help.
He wanted to find out what happened to the civilians who had no business facing off against the void. He wanted to find out about a lot of things.
However, this quest seemed like a bad idea.
’For some reason, it seems this quest will send me on a path of slaughter and bloodshed. Of course, it will strengthen me, but damn, conquering all 12 Void Vortexes…
Even if I don’t know anything, just the fact that I faced Nirvana stage warriors with this one means the next one will be even more dangerous.
Naturally, I can face a Core Formation stage warrior and even an Empyrean stage warrior. However, what happens when the Core Formation stage warriors come in the hundreds? What happens when the Empyreans come in the dozens?
Perhaps I can survive; however, my wives can’t.’
Klaus paused and looked at his wives. With just a glance, he could see that they had already reached Super Void Affinity.
He could even see the void laws hovering around them, something he could see because he, too, had reached the Super stage while he was out.
’Still, they are not ready for what comes next.’
Perhaps seeing that he was looking at them, they smiled.
Kathy then asked,
“What now? We have reached the Super Void Affinity stage, but it seems the void energy here is limited, so we will have to head much deeper.”
Klaus smiled and then shook his head.
“You three have to leave. From here onwards, the danger will be more than you can handle, so go back to Earth. I will handle the second Void Vortex, then you can continue your training.”
The three ladies narrowed their eyes at Klaus, causing him to break into a cold sweat.
Hanna glared at him as if she were staring into his soul and asked, “Do you think we are weak?”
Klaus shook his head.
“Then do you think we will slow you down?”
He shook his head again.
“So you think we are not good enough to face monsters that are slightly stronger than us?”
Klaus shook his head again, feeling a headache coming on.
“Then what made you think sending us away is a good idea?” Klaus scratched his head, knowing they made a good point. He truly had no reason to send them away. In fact, he most certainly needed them now more than ever.
After all, aside from wanting to make them powerful warriors, he also had a need for them just in case he got a new Void Crystal and used it again.
They would be the ones to protect him, just in case he was attacked after he passed out, like they did with this one. In short, Klaus needed them; however, he was worried about their mental state, which would affect their safety.
A warrior with unstable emotions and a mindset runs the risk of dying when they shouldn’t have died. Klaus knew he would face much steeper odds, so he did not want to risk his wives’ lives.
But now, seeing how pissed off they had become, he knew he could not tell them the main reason why he wanted to send them away.
“Sorry, ladies. I just thought you would want to retreat for now and wrap your minds around the fact that there may be a potential Void Gate just several billion miles away from our home.”
This was not a lie.
Klaus did want them to ponder on that and make up their minds before coming back. However, his words didn’t seem to move them.
“We will stay and conquer the second Void Vortex with you. By then, Nadia and Yuying would be back, and we could all leave together.”
“Hanna is right. Just because we were shaken for a bit doesn’t mean we can’t fight. If anything, we are now more determined to see this to the end, so don’t even think about sending us away.”
Klaus nodded promptly.
“Sorry, ladies. I won’t try to send you away again.”
They smirked and turned away, slightly hurt that Klaus had looked down on them.
Klaus realised his mistakes and learned from them. Next time, he wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes.
’Good thing that was resolved. Next time, I will be more careful.’
Klaus said to himself and then started reading the remaining messages. The next journey would be harrowing, and so, he could only prepare for it.
This time, he would have to put in some effort if he wanted to keep his wives safe and continue expanding his knowledge of the void.
He was not in any way weaker than an Empyrean stage warrior, so he most certainly was ready to face them.
