The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse - Chapter 1359: Meeting Sir Lux

Chapter 1359: Meeting Sir Lux
Klaus nodded to the true god, who now seemed to have a satisfied smile on his face, unlike the Immortal Lords standing beside him.
What Klaus had just done is beyond ordinary.
Space Isolation is similar to Space Lock. However, instead of merely locking the space, Isolation goes two steps further.
First, aside from merely locking the space around him, it also seems to cast an illusion spell that keeps the isolated person believing they are with those they were with.
It is mostly used for assassination.
Just now, for a split second, Klaus felt that. However, his understanding of the space law is too advanced to fall for something that basic.
The second thing, of course, is the nature of the space lock. The ordinary space lock focuses on locking the space around the target. However, space isolation locks it in a form of distortion. This makes it hard to even see through anything.
It further strengthens the spell that makes it so the target is not aware that he has been isolated.
With both methods combined, it becomes extremely difficult to break a space isolation than breaking a space lock.
So Klaus breaking it like it was mere brittle glass was a bit of an achievement.
“I guess the remorse is true; you are indeed not an ordinary person,” Sir Lux said as Klaus moved toward the pavilion.
He smiled and said, “I was lucky to have access to advanced knowledge while starting out as a warrior.”
Sir Lux gestured for him to sit opposite him, while Rory and the others sat on the side. This isn’t an interview, so they can stay and hear what Sir Lux wanted to say to Klaus.
“There is one thing to have the knowledge and another to learn, master, and apply it. You, my friend, have just proven that you know what you’re doing. I say that is admirable by all standards,”
“I guess I will take that as a compliment,”
“You deserve it.”
Klaus, in a way, felt good about having impressed Sir Lux. Many would be offended by how easily their test was passed by someone like Klaus, who isn’t even a quarter of their age and cultivation base.
Sir Lux seems rather pleased with Klaus and even more happy he was able to break his space isolation.
Of course, it might be a front or an act, but from where Klaus sat, he didn’t think Sir Lux hated him or was angry that he had casually broken his space isolation.
“So tell me, Renegade Hunter. Why did you become a hunter?”
“I decided to become a hunter because I learned the higher I climbed, the more my reputation builds up. And well, while I may lie and say it was to make the universe a better place, I know I alone cannot do that.
So I was more concerned about my access and the ability to travel unrestricted. The thing is, I like to roam and go places that will make me happy.
However, we both know that without the highest reputation, some places may be restricted, so by becoming a powerful hunter, I can move unrestricted. That was why I became a hunter.”
“That is a bit unexpected; however, I understand where you are coming from. Most hunters, including me, became hunters for the money, but along the line, it became something more.
Saving those in need and making sure criminals are back where they belong gives one a sense of purpose, something I can sense in you.
You had every reason to abandon your mission when it became difficult. You could have made a run for it when things became a bit dangerous; however, you chose to hold on and fought harrowing battles to ensure the safety of your packages.
I say that is admirable and shows the character of a true hunter.”
Klaus smiled. Hearing a god praise him for his sense of purpose as a hunter made him very happy. It does not happen every day, so he is happy to hear that.
Of course, there is the issue of why he is being nice to him. Nobody does anything without a reason, so there might be something deeper to why he was being praised this much.
“I am glad I was able to live up to the standards of a hunter,” Klaus said…
“That you are. Though I might ask, do you have plans to continue on this path you have chosen, or is this only a means to an end?”
“I believe I will always be a hunter. I have no plans on ever stopping. Of course, nobody knows what the future holds, but for me, as long as the universe doesn’t collapse on my head, then I will always be a hunter.”
“That is good to hear, Renegade Hunter.”
Klaus knew that the day his nature as the paragon would be revealed, the mission hall and all other organizations he planned to join would become his enemies.
Of course, he has plans to make sure that this time around, there will be those who would question the heavens. He planned to build a solid reputation so that, when the day came, the heavens would have a hard time convincing the general public that he was evil.
But even so, he knew his access as a hunter would be revoked, and he would be barred from ever enjoying the privileges being a hunter had given him.
But until then, he would take his job as a hunter seriously.
“I believe as long as you remain a hunter, the universe will have some hope. Believe me, the universe at the moment is hanging on by a thread. So it needs people like you, hunters who aren’t afraid to face dangers.
You have proven how capable you are, and for that, I believe you qualify to be a Unique Hunter. However, that privilege or title comes with work, and that is why I asked you to be here.”
Sir Lux reached into his space ring and pulled out a device. He set it down and pressed a button. At once, a map projection appeared.
There are several red dots and a few green dots.
Judging by how the red dots populated the map, Klaus concluded that those must be danger zones. His theory was confirmed by Sir Lux the next second.
“This is the map of a planetary system that had been overrun by demons. This planetary system once belonged to the Elven Galaxy; however, it is now in the hands of the Demons.
The problem is that this planetary system is not part of the Universe registry, meaning the Universe Court or Warrior Temple had no obligation to offer aid.
But that doesn’t stop the mission hall. Our aid goes anywhere, and so when they called for help, we offered. However, as you can see, in about ten years’ time, every last planet in this planetary system will be overrun.
The mission hall had already made plans to send more hunters there; however, as it stands, only a few have accepted the mission.
I ask you here today to see if whether you are up for such a mission. It is a dangerous one for sure, considering there are many Immortal Kings and even a few Immortal Emperors involved.”
Klaus looked at the map for a few seconds, then asked, “How long do I have?”
“Three years,” Sir Lux answered, then added, “You have three years before that place becomes a danger zone nobody would be advised to go.”
“I guess I have time then.”
