The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse - Chapter 1383 1383: Accepting A Challenge

“Warrior Rouni, congratulations on finally making it to the Top Ten Grandmaster-Level Chart of the Foreign Battlefield. You are the only True Immortal among the top ten. How does it feel to hold such a spot?”
An interviewer asked, her smile showing she was clearly infatuated with the handsome, High Human warrior she was interviewing.
Rouni smiled and answered, “It feels great. It feels like I have finally reached that level as a warrior, where I can be proud of my achievements. Being among the top ten and holding that spot on such a harrowing battlefield is great.”
“That it is. I have reviewed some of your battles and saw how much you had put into them, even defeating the undisputed Green Dagger Fiend.”
Rouni smiled again. “That was a good and dangerous battle for sure. However, as someone who had killed many good warriors of our dear universe, having the chance to kill him was the only way I could repay those brave warriors for their services in ensuring the universe is a better place for all of us.”
Klaus smirked, knowing every word Rouni spoke was merely an act.
He could tell it from his face; the bastard is proud of his achievement and, if not for maintaining decorum, he would have already started beating his chest and praising himself.
However, he is keeping his composure and making sure he appears benevolent before the countless people watching him.
She is farming for their favour and respect.
The interviewer, who seemed to also realised his bullshit, smiled cutely and asked Rouni a question that widened Klaus’s grin.
“While you were away, a Hunter by the name Renegade made the news when he single-handedly faced an Immortal Lord while only at the Peak of the Empyrean stage for 30 minutes and lived to tell the tale.
Many are calling him the Ultimate Warrior, while others couldn’t help but claim he will one day cause trouble on the Foreign Battlefields.
What is your opinion?”
The look in Rouni’s eyes changed slightly. He clearly hates Klaus, not because he is more handsome than he is, but because when he reached the top ten, he expected his achievement to make waves.
Unfortunately for him, Klaus was already on every front page, so slowly, his achievement was pushed back, and like smoke, it vanished.
That soured his mood, and so he most certainly did not like Klaus. In fact, the interview was organized so he could address his feelings.
“I think he had done something no mortal had ever done. I myself have never done such a thing. However, it is one thing to use underhanded means to win a fight—something Hunters love to do, by the way—and another to actually fight and win fair and square.
I am not looking down on him, but I think a true warrior wouldn’t play dirty just to gain an advantage. Of course, if he disagrees, he can always meet me inside the Deep Space or wait for me to return from the Foreign Battlefield to show him how real warriors do it.”
“Oh, is that a challenge to the Renegade Hunter?”
Rouni smiled and replied, “However you want to interpret it. Just know that I am ready for him whenever he is.”
“You heard the man. If the Renegade Hunter wants to justify his stance, he can come for a demonstration from a real warrior. Of course, as to whether the Renegade Hunter is up for it, we can only wait and see if he will accept this challenge.”
Klaus paused the video and turned to Lady Ryuu. “He is arrogant.”
“He takes after his master; they are both arrogant. Of course, to the rest of the Universe, Rouni Jamel is a rising star warrior; however, I know he has the support of Supreme Elder Juo. He gave the order to send you away when you came to Planet Fiapre.
He wants what was meant for you to go to his disciple. Of course, he deserves it, considering what he has achieved so far as a warrior.
However, defeating him just as his ego starts to swell will make me and many others very happy. I know it is petty to ask this of you, but are you up for a duel?”
Klaus smiled. “I like petty, and yes, if putting this brat in his place is what it would take to show the entire universe the Renegade Hunter is not a bluff, then why not?”
Lady Ryuu nodded and turned to Flux. “Call her over.”
A minute later, the same interviewer who interviewed Rouni appeared as a hologram holding a camera. When she saw Klaus, a wave of happiness washed over her.
“We finally meet, Renegade Hunter,” she said.
“I guess we did.” Klaus had no idea he was speaking with a god. However, watching the smile on her face, he could feel some calm and composure that keep tugging on his heartstring to tell her his deepest desires.
This triggered Klaus’s defense mechanisms. ‘Looks like she is more dangerous than she looks.’
“You have been challenged by Warrior Rouni. What is your response?” After a few minutes of talk, she got down to the main reason why she was called over.
Klaus first sighed, then put on a grin. “I am not that eager to become even more popular. However, if someone want to make me even more popular, why not.
Now that I have become an Immortal, I need to see how strong I have become. And since someone is willing to be my training dummy, why not?
He should set the time, date, and location. I will be there with a smile on my face.”
Lord Flux smiled on the side, clearly amused. As for Lady Ryuu, she merely shook her head, a bit happy that Klaus had decided to take the petty path and teach the brat of her rival a lesson.
While Rouni can be said to be among the top True Immortals in the universe, she saw Klaus’s battle with Blood Shadow and knew, handicapped or not, Klaus had done something nobody had ever done before.
Even if he were to lose against Rouni, she wouldn’t mind. After all, Rouni is no simple warrior.
“Those are some bold words to say, Renegade Hunter,” the interviewer said, her smile enchanting.
“What can I say? I am an overachiever.”
“I can see that. In any case, I will be leaving now. Your response must be made known to the countless people waiting to hear from you.”
“I will wait to hear some good news.”
The interviewer nodded. “See you later, Renegade Hunter. When you come to Planet Delulu, ask for the River Goddess. I will make your stay a memorable one.”
After saying that, she left.
“I look forward to watching a good fight.” Lady Ryuu also stood up, ready to leave.
“I will be sure to put on a good show.”
She nodded and turned to Lord Flux. “Take him back and be sure to provide him with the items I have offered him.”
She was gone the next second. Klaus and Lord Flux left the green planet and headed for the landing pad.
“Once the date and location of the battle are set, I will send you the Dark Key. I will also send your rewards to Planet Baski.”
“I will be waiting then.”
Klaus activated the Dark Key, which took him back to the mansion where he first appeared.
After spending a few minutes talking with his Star Guards, he returned to the real world just in time for news of his accepting Rouni’s challenge to break out.
