The Martial Sages grew stunned at Rui’s offer.

“You want to… create a new path?” Matriarch Nephi’s tone was stunned.

“I want to evolve an existing Path with another,” Rui clarified. “I want to ensure that this pure blood path that Arastia has shown to develop will spread across human civilization just enough to ensure that it is assimilated into the Martial Path to become a Blood Martial Path. In my mind, the ideal end outcome is the assimilation of hemokinesis into the Martial Path as its own Realm of power. Its own reservoir of potential. This will qualitatively evolve the Martial Path to be superior to what it used to be.”

The other Martial Sages simply stared at Rui in stunned silence.

“…Is that even possible?” Kane hesitated. “To, like, engineer a Martial Path in that fashion?”

“It’s going to be very difficult,” Rui admitted. “However, we already have the tools needed for it. Our civilization already reveres Martial Art, for the most part. We need to leverage this more extensively for all future descendants of the Blood Goddess. We will need to engineer our civilization to have the right kind of impact on Blood Children. Then in the future, we will be able to tap into the power of their evolved genes and their evolved Martial Path universally without compromising the Martial Path.”

Of course, saying it was ’difficult’ was an understatement. Engineering a civilization to produce certain environmental, upbringing, and experiential impacts on a person to cause them to develop a Martial Path with the Blood Path as merely a Realm of power within it, was no easy task.

Even for Rui, he could scarcely imagine how he could possibly go about it. But he would likely need the help of the immortal sages and also utilize his own power to make what would otherwise be considered quite impossible.

It was an interesting project, not one that was directly connected to his own personal interests, since he himself could not directly benefit from future generations gaining an evolved Blood Martial Path.

If nothing else, it would ensure that the next generations would grow powerful enough to be able to pressure him, if nothing else.

His attention returned to the Martial Sages.

“This is your best-case scenario. You can choose to try to help me or not. But the hemosapien children are still under my absolute protection. Do not think you can try to be sneaky just because I won’t be around. I have more than enough ways to learn of any misbehavior.”

With the Beggar Sect on his side, he would be able to instantly learn of any unnatural deaths or anything of the sort, and with his own power, learning who was responsible for it was a relatively easy task.

The Martial Sages heaved deep breaths in a resigned fashion.

Since Rui had resolutely reaffirmed his protection of the blood children, there was no chance that they could get away with what they wanted to.

“Is this actually a goal?” the Flickering Elder demanded. “Or are you just making up some fantastical nonsense to try and earn our support? Can you actually do what you claim to aim for?”

Rui directed a knowing gaze to the diminutive Martial Sage. “I actually do have several ideas. From brute-force solutions where I cast a hypnosis on everybody on the continent in period intervals for a few decades, to more subtle Martial reinforcement. It is possible to ’brainwash’ all future generations into developing a heavy lean on Martial Art which can tilt the path more towards Martial. We also have Amare.”

The Flickering Elder. “What about her? Can she possibly help?”

“She can,” Rui replied. “She once spread Martial Art across the entire continent, and she did so in an era of primitive communication technology and primitive transportation technology. An incredible feat considering how enormous the Panama Continent is. Her mode of learning, kinesthetic learning, can also likely be very helpful if universalized, as it can ensure that Martial Art entrenches itself more deeply in the hemosapien hybrids.”

Rui had many ideas on how he could potentially ensure human civilization could be ’engineered,’ but he had yet to create a proper framework.

“I’ll get to work on it,” Rui promised. “I will have plenty of time to think when I travel the true world along with her.”

Whether the Martial Sages liked it or not, they had no choice but to simply accept his offer. There was no other option, largely due to Rui’s overpowering protection for the blood children.

“And what will you do if you fail?” another Martial Sage asked boldly.

Rui raised an eyebrow.

“You’re making great promises to us, but the fact of the matter is that you might fail, and Martial Art as a whole may become undermined by a much stronger Blood Path. Our Martial Sects will eventually collapse, and in a few centuries’ time, the rise of blood humans with strange power far surpassing us will come about, rendering us obsolete,” the Martial Sage reasoned. “What will you do in that situation? How will you ensure we are not wronged?”

Rui shook his head. “You are too entitled. Nobody is owed anything. I understand that all of you have worked very hard to get your hands on the power that you have now, but the simple fact of the matter is that power is the only thing that matters to human civilization. I can assure you that the leaders of human civilization, my father and I included, are also in agreement with that. Martial Art is desirable because it is the strongest. Now, Martial Art is facing true competition for the first time in history. If Martial Artists want to retain their dominant position, they will have to overcome the tests that the true world throws at them.”

This was the way of evolution by natural selection.

Survival of the fittest.

Rui was unwilling to give Martial Art a free pass just because he loved Martial Art. As much as he loved it, he would hate it if it retained its position unfairly or without its own merits.

Only by overcoming these challenges to its hegemony would it be able to evolve and grow stronger.
