The Martial Unity - Chapter 3291: Make Them Pay

Chapter 3291: Make Them Pay
Amare stared at the spot where Rui had been standing one moment prior as her eyes widened with shock.
“…Rui?”
One moment, he had been right there with her.
The very next moment, however, Rui was gone.
She wasn’t sure how to even react to such an absurd event.
People did not randomly disappear out of thin air.
On top of that, the cocoon was closed, so it begged the question of how he even left.
“Wait,” her expression grew tense. “What if he wasn’t here from the start?”
Did she dream him up this entire time?
Then, was her night with him also not real?
Her cheeks flushed as she recalled all the things he did to her, before shaking her head.
“Nonono, there’s no way that was fake!” She refused to believe it. “Not to mention…”
She had sensed the traces of space-time manipulation with ripples through the fabric of reality.
Something had happened to Rui.
BANG!
With a single blow, she broke out of the cocoon that Rui had created for them.
RUMBLE!
Her eyes widened with shock as the world around her began shaking violently. She could feel tremors washing through all of West Genora as a massive earthquake emerging from the east consumed the entire continent. Both the lands beneath her feet and the morning skies shook with fear.
BOOM
She broke out of the cocoon, half-dressed, and emerged in alarm.
“Rui!” she screamed in desperation, looking around frantically. “RUI!”
RUMBLE!!
The violence of the earthquake merely grew stronger and stronger with each passing second, as greater and greater waves of seismic radiation. She could sense the fear and dread that came from the nature around.
The trees quivered with angst while the leaves trembled in panic.
They whispered to her the dangers that were.
They weren’t the only ones.
A dark atmosphere overtook the entirety of the Forest of War.
“What is this?!”
“An earthquake?! That’s impossible!”
“What manner of horror is generating this much power?!”
The dark elves are training in the Forest of
“Help!” A young dark elf boy came running from the woods in fear. “Help! The world is shaking!”
“It’s okay…!” Amare knelt as she hugged the little boy, comforting him even as she spread her senses, trying to understand what in the world was happening. “This is supposed to be impossible!”
Although the Genora Continent was the fusion of multiple super tectonic plates, she knew for a fact in her time as living as an elf that earthquakes were impossible on the Genora Continent because all the elves had engineered their botanical biotechnology to absorb seismic radiation through their roots.
This meant that even a Richter nine earthquake was virtually invisible to the senses because almost all of it had been absorbed by the botanical biotechnology of the trees.
And yet, despite that—
RUMBLE!
Despite that, the world shook.
’Sage Amare…!’ Mother Alicia’s urgent voice emerged in her mind. ’Good…! You seem okay. Wait, where is Prince Rui?’
Amare clenched her fist as her expression grew grim.
“He disappeared!” Her hurried tone was filled with anxiety. “One moment he was standing right behind me as I was putting on my clothes, and then he just disappeared!”
’What?’ Mother Alicia’s tone was one of shock. ’He just disappeared into thin air, just like that?’
Amare nodded with fearful eyes. “The only thing I sensed was some remnant ripples in space and time. I think… I think Rui has been taken!”
RUMBLE!
Words could not begin to describe how much her heart was in pain.
She had sworn that she would grow strong enough to ensure that nothing could ever separate them ever again. The fact that she had lost him right after their affirmation of love was excruciating to her very soul.
’Ripples across space and time…!’ A horrifying realization dawned on Mother Alicia as she understood what had happened. ’No…! How could they?!’
She had failed to notice because she had purposefully deactivated the sensory input from the leaves, woods, and flora that Rui had conjured around them so that they could have some privacy to themselves.
That was a blunder.
RUMBLE!
She should have accounted for the slightest of dangers, no matter how improbable, and kept it open, even if it caused privacy issues. Because of that, she had lost the chance to potentially intervene before he was taken away.
“What is it?” Amare asked her with a desperate tone. “What do you know?!”
’…It’s likely our sisters, the light elves.’ Mother Alicia’s tone was furious. ’We have anti-space-time measures in place against other civilizations outside of Genora, but the truth is that we elves are too connected with each other to entirely stop each other. It never mattered because we are sister civilizations of the same species and have never found a reason for conflict in our long history together… until now.’
“The light elves?” Amare’s eyes widened with shock. “They stole my Rui? But why?!”
’…They intend to kill him,’ Mother Alicia’s tone was grim. ’In fact, judging from the preliminary data that we have gathered, they have deployed an astronomical amount of power to annihilate him. I am aware that the Dawnbringer is strong, but even he cannot possibly defeat the entirety of the East Genoran Elven Civilizatio—’
“Rui will not die.”
Amare’s tone was fierce.
Her eyes flared with wrath as they grew teary.
“He will survive.
Her expression grew intense.
“He will win.”
Her tone softened.
“He will adaptively evolve and emerge victorious.”
Mother Alicia remained silent at those words.
She knew that there was almost no chance that Rui could have possibly survived the absurd energy signatures that she and her fellow sisters had detected in their frantic investigations.
She also knew that it was almost impossible for him to possibly survive an assault that they had scrupulously prepared for.
Yet, she remained silent to Amare’s words, unwilling to break the truth to her in this situation; she needed her in her senses and driven. The dark elves could not afford to allow anything to happen to Amare as well.
“We must help him!” Amare insisted as her eyes flared with power.
’This is our fault. We will take full responsibility.’ Mother Alicia’s tone was unyielding. ’We will rescue him, or we will make our sisters pay for killing our honored guests and a leader of human civilization.’
