The Martial Unity - Chapter 3498: Heightened Resolution

Chapter 3498: Heightened Resolution
WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!
Rui evaded a destructive onslaught of claw jabs from the Dragon Emperor, only to find himself staring at the Dragon Emperor’s tail charging at him.
WHOOSH!
He barely managed to evade the powerful tail attack before narrowly evading a crushing stomp.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!
RUMBLE!!!!!
The world shook as the Dragon Emperor unleashed destruction on a scale that Rui had almost never seen before, ravaging the Great Void Ocean. His movements were so powerful that despite the drag of water, Rui didn’t think he could easily withstand them.
And with water slowing them down and foresight becoming more important in the battle, he realized it made more sense to adopt an evasive response to all of Lord Shenlong’s attacks.
’It’s a goddamn shame that I can’t teleport underwater.’
His teleportation was based on gravity manipulation that relied on constructively superimposing gravitational waves that he created with high energy concentration.
The issue was that if he tried to create the high-energy concentration of mass needed to create gravitational waves, it would simply be lost into the environment. The water would simply evaporate, turning into steam and draining his attacks.
The loss of the technique was painful, but Rui could see that the environment was affecting the Dragon Emperor even more than it was affecting Rui. If not for the frenzied state of mind that the Dragon Emperor was in, he should have logically done everything in his power to leave water and get back to the skies.
But the state of his mind he was in was not conducive to that kind of logical thinking. Rui could see that the yellow, reptilian eyes of the Dragon Emperor were bloodshot with a visceral aggression. He had entered the same state of mind that the beasts and monsters of the Beast Incursion were in, and yet somehow managed to retain his cognitive and thinking mind to achieve his insane goal as well as possible.
However, with each passing minute, Rui could tell the extreme environment was taking its toll on him. The sheer strain on his giant body was so high that each movement was likely excruciatingly painful. It didn’t matter that his scales were comprised of invintium; they couldn’t protect him from the astronomical amounts of pressure weighing down on him.
On top of that, the more Rui studied him, the more certain he was that the dragon couldn’t breathe underwater, which would explain why Rui’s Tree of Life Enlightenment indicated that the Dragon Emperor was weak underwater. At the same time, Rui didn’t think that he was just holding his breath, either. He likely had an oxygen reservoir within his body that allowed him to sustain himself without breathing.
That meant that he likely had a time limit.
These facts allowed Rui to construct an even better understanding of the battle dynamics between them as he evaded the ferocious blows that the Dragon Emperor unleashed upon him.
First, he didn’t need to withstand any blow; he could rely on evasion fueled by his systems of thought and his prophecy.
Second, the Dragon Emperor would likely shift priorities and reach for the surface to gather oxygen and get out of an antithetical environment.
Third, Rui couldn’t hurt him underwater with normal attacks.
The Dragon Emperor was already almost invincible to the point that not even Amare could hurt him easily. On top of that, the water was slowing Rui down and weakening his attack, slowing him down and making his attacks much harder to land.
“Thankfully, I prepared for many of these.”
One of the techniques that he had prepared for an underwater environment was a maneuvering technique specifically designed for water. The human body was not aquadynamic by any means, but there were things that could ameliorate the difference.
He breathed in a specific pattern, waving his hands about to manipulate the water currents that his Water Breathing was creating.
It allowed the creation of an underwater thrust that could propel him at extremely high speeds while simultaneously minimizing drag by making water molecules bend around him smoothly rather than collide with him.
The amount of maneuverability it gave him made him feel like a fish. He opened his eyes as he beheld a charging Dragon Emperor who used his dragon wings to launch him across the bottom of the ocean, right claws swinging at Rui, eager to decapitate him where he stood.
WHOOSH
A single, gentle step was all it took for the attack to cleanly miss. The Dragon Emperor snarled as he whipped his tail at Rui, threatening to crush him right then and there.
Rui gently moved out of the way as if he were still on land, easily avoiding Lord Shenlong’s attack. Whether it was because of pride or some other reason, the Dragon Emperor seemed unwilling to give up, pushing himself further and further as he unleashed a maelstrom of attacks.
And yet, none of them could so much as even touch Rui.
Rui evaded each and every single one of them as he rapidly closed the distance between himself and the Dragon Emperor. His hand balled into a fist, unleashing a devastating impact upon the dragon.
BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
A powerful Yin-Yang Spear vibrated against the radioactive invintium armor of the Dragon Emperor, permeating the impact past the armor. And yet, the attack merely earned a sneer from the Dragon Emperor, who looked down on him with his yellow, reptilian eyes.
“Such a paltry vibrating attack. Yours is even weaker than your mate’s.”
His paw flew towards Rui in a powerful kicking maneuver.
And yet, it didn’t so much as even come close to touching Rui, who simply twirled to evade the attack before launching another blow with the same maneuver.
BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
This time, the impact permeated much, much deeper than his previous attack, reaching soft, fleshy vital areas within the Dragon Emperor as the Dragon Emperor shook at the impact, lurching forward with a shocked expression, finding himself facing a grinning Rui.
“Even a radioactive isotope of invintium has a resonant frequency, you know?”
