The Martial Unity - Chapter 3601: Fostering Agreement

Chapter 3601: Fostering Agreement
The very mention of negatron matter made the Mothers of Nature more excited. They arguably benefited the most from negatron matter out of all other people in the world. It has infinite possibilities in their hands, even more so than the dwarves or the tekvores, as far as they were concerned.
“Negatron matter can solve the greatest shortcoming that we Mothers of Nature face,” Mother Maeria continued in a solemn tone. “It can allow us to project our power through space and time, and finally overcome our Genoran limits. We, the light elves, must get our hands on it at any cost.”
Mother Vyia directed a knowing look at her older sister. “That is a sentiment I resonate with, yet the Emperor of Harmony has added the light elves to the list, has he not? Why do you not negotiate with Emperor Rael and forge a deal?”
Mother Maeria’s wise and serene emerald eyes bore deep into her sister’s. “We cannot partake in any offensive mission. We cannot deploy our forces out of our continent to partake in war. This greatly limits the value of our contribution to the Panamic Alliance, which makes us less appealing to the Emperor of Harmony. Not to mention…”
Mother Maeria’s expression darkened with a hint of sorrow. “I do not know if the Emperor of Harmony truly trusts us. It is rather surprising that he has offered us an alliance, given our recent past. Additionally, while he may be inclined to consider us as a candidate, we might not be that attractive considering that what we offer will be more of what you offer to him, given how similar our civilizations are, relatively speaking.”
Mother Maeria was not certain that she could outweigh what the others had to offer, even as a top-ten pathwalker. She couldn’t project her power outside her continent, like the other Mothers of Nature.
“That is why we need the negatron matter. With it, we can open wormholes to easily project tremendous power outside Genora,” Mother Maeria remarked.
“That is also our consideration on the matter,” Mother Vyia remarked. “However, what exactly do you seek from us? It appears that you have a good grasp of your strategy, do you not?”
Mother Maeria nodded to her sister. “Yes, however, what we seek from you is two-fold. We seek your advocacy over the finer details of the partnership agreement with the Panamic Alliance. We do not have any experience with such a negotiation process due to our… well, exclusive policies, and we do not have the best relationship with them. We hope that you, dark elves, will help us establish a partnership. We also hope that you will agree to cooperate with us over the matter of the world war in general. I hope that, should Genora be invaded, we will be able to engage in a mutual cooperation to supply energy and cloud capital to whichever side of our continent is being attacked.”
Mother Vyia understood what her sister sought from her. “You want us to engage in some measure of inter-civilizational cooperation when it comes to our own mutual national security and the matter with the deal with the Panamic Alliance?”
“Precisely.”
Mother Vyia stirred at those words. “…When it comes to your relationship with the Panamic Alliance, we can, at most, offer to moderate. We will not serve as your advocate in any way.”
Mother Maeria nodded. “We can work with that.”
“When it comes to cooperation for our security interests…” Mother Vyia continued with a serious tone. “This only works if you concede to absolute transparency with your operations. We cannot trust opening our network and our borders to you in any capacity unless we have absolute certainty in your actions and intentions. And since we do not trust you, we will need some measure of absolute transparency. Whether this is communications, allocation of resources, or intelligence, you will have to concede being completely open with that.
Many of the light elven Mothers frowned at those terms, for they were excessively demanding. To make everything so utterly transparent was simply too much of an indignity to suffer, they would not accept this condition even if Mother Maeria conceded to it.
And the latter was too wise to not realize that either.
“That is too much to ask and you know it, my dear sister,” Mother Maeria remarked. “The fact of the matter is that you have cause to agree with this condition. The Suneater returns to Gaia even as we speak and there’s a good chance that he will set his eyes on Genora, west or east. Do you think you can handle top ten powerhouse like the Suneater by yourselves, not to mention the giant army he will bring with him?”
The dark elves grew grave at those words. While they had powerful Mothers of Nature who were almost as experienced as Mother Maeria, like Mother Vyia, they were non-combatants. And the younger battle-ready Mothers like Mother Alicia were simply not powerful enough to take on the Suneater.
Only Mother Maeria could have the power to push back such a terrible tyrant.
If they agreed to her conditions, then Mother Maeria would protect the dark elves if the Suneater ever set foot in West Genora. This was a powerful consideration that compelled the dark elves to at least give more consideration to Mother Maeria’s offer.
Mother Vyia stirred at her sister’s words before heaving a deep breath. “…We are willing to be less stringent in light of this threat, yes. But we will not give up some requirement of transparency to some extent, even if not absolute. We have reason to be distrustful of you, our estranged sisters.”
“We can iron out the details as long as there is some willingness to compromise on both sides,” Mother Maeria smiled. “This will serve as one step to the reconciliation of our two civilizations in the long run and may we eventually become one once more.”
The dark elves and the light elves began ironing out an agreement even as war escalated in the true world.
