The Martial Unity - Chapter 3670: Steep Learning Curve

Chapter 3670: Steep Learning Curve
His eyes widened as he saw visions of the future that he hadn’t seen before when performing these tasks. He saw his flesh growing more and more evosapien, growing more and more translucent. He saw evosapien cells replenishing slightly faster than human skin stem cells.
That meant that the evosapien stem cells ought to account for just a little under half of all stem cells, so that it would equal out to be a perfect fifty-fifty.
“This is the way to go.”
He excitedly scanned the entirety of his outer flesh for all the stem cells that existed. These were usually the fellows responsible for reproducing skin during wounds or to replace naturally shed skin, so they were plentiful across the body.
Replacing a very precise number of them across all layers of the outer layer of flesh was not easy.
The white blood cells that came into contact with them, deeper into the flesh where the blood capillaries supplied oxygen to the flesh, did not attack them, for Rui had spent weeks allowing his body to replace all old T-cells with new T-cells that regarded the evosapien stem cells as a good friend.
His immune system not only welcomed the new stem cells, but also protected them from anybody who dared to attack them like a military junta. This allowed the evosapien stem cells in his body to finally become part of a new home and begin doing their job of replacing human cells with evosapien cells.
With the help of his Martial Soul, Rui could even feel new evosapien skin cells added to his outer flesh. They felt clearly different from how his own cells felt. While his own cells felt like they were rock solid and tough, not to mention explosive due to the cancer they had, evosapien cells felt more graceful and elegant.
They swiftly adapted to their environment to become fish in water, ’knowing’ exactly what kind of cells it needed to produce to become a part of its new environment.
In fact, the adaptation was so good that Rui truly wondered if he could just leave it be and allow it to take over his body. It was almost as if there was an ’intelligence’ to the evosapien stem cell. Would it be able to spread throughout his body like a cancer now that he had allowed it to partake in his physiology?
“I will need to make sure that it does not get out of control. Thankfully, I have the Eye of Prophecy and can still use it to avoid bad outcomes.”
Of course, it wasn’t as though the journey of cells within his body was that smooth either. The moment he tried to ’control’ their adaptive evolution mechanisms to see what he could do with them, he found them to be non-responsive.
“Ah, right. It isn’t just enough to insert these cells into my body; I need to also replicate the mechanisms to control them.”
Evosapien physiology was not different from that of humans from a microbiological perspective. There were considerable differences in certain aspects of their anatomy.
For instance, the evosapien nervous system was the second-most developed nervous system out of all seven races, after that of the dwarves. It was even more developed than the developed Martial Body that demanded a more thorough nervous system for finer motor control, which enabled greater efficiency.
Yet, unlike the Martial Body endowments, which existed to improve existing control over the body. The endowments of the evosapien nervous system to control a specific ’muscle.’
The muscle of genetic adaptive evolution is present in each cell of their body. That is why they didn’t possess Martial efficiency.
“If I want to learn to control evosapien adaptive evolution as well as them and retain Martial efficiency, I will need to develop my nervous system to be complex than both Martial and evosapien combined.”
The nervous system was arguably the second most dangerous and important phase of Project Evosapien. It was composed of neurons just like the brain, and it would serve as a way to familiarize oneself with the ultimately dangerous phase of this process, which involves replacing half his neurons with those of the evosapien equivalent.
It was unfortunate that he would have to wait that long to flex his genetic adaptive evolution like a muscle. He had been itching to get his hands on this ability from the very moment he committed to this process from the get-go, but he tempered his expectations and reminded himself how long this project was going to last.
Time passed as he sustained himself, pausing only when he needed to catch some rest to deal with the price of the Realms. The nutrition that the medical cocoon directly put into his body and the waste products it removed ensured that he didn’t need to stop this process for the likes of food and whatnot.
His flesh became increasingly translucent day by day as more and more of his human skin cells were replaced by evosapien skin cells that began integrating into his systems. He was glad that he had removed the gu from his body ahead of time because it would have been truly difficult to do this process while a war between his gu and cancer exploded within his body.
On the other hand, he ran into complications despite his Eye of Prophecy. The first one was one that he had foreseen.
His evosapien skin cells adapted to autophagy, and any attempts to kill them are redirected to other parts of the body. They were better able to maintain their own survival, unlike his own cell. Thus, he needed to re-establish how many of his skin stem cells he would need to replace to account for this difference.
He also noticed how different his skin began feeling.
“Getting used to all of this Martially is going to be a pain in the ass for sure.”
Every time he developed a fundamentally material system like this, the learning curve to gaining some proficiency over this rose astronomically. Even considering their short lives, it took the evolutionaries a long time to achieve the kind of proficiency that they did!
