The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman - Chapter 1041:

“Huh? An important guest?”
Raon widened his eyes as he looked at Glenn.
‘Do I have a guest coming?’
A few people came to mind—Encia and Denning Rose among them—but none seemed important enough for Glenn to mention personally.
“If you’re curious, why not go and see?”
Glenn shook his head calmly, showing no intention of revealing the guest himself.
“Actually, I still have a little time, so I was planning to stop by the Light Wind Palace first….”
Raon narrowed his eyes as he watched the sun slowly sink, signaling the late afternoon.
“But after hearing that, Head of House, I should head to the annex first.”
He had spent over two weeks at sea without proper training, and he was curious how the swordsmen had been spending their time, so he had planned to visit the 5th Training Grounds first. Still, it seemed he should return to the annex for now.
>> This old geezer is finally being helpful after so long!
Wrath leaped up and landed on top of Glenn’s head.
>> I thought I’d have to starve and do boring training! Well said!
The little guy didn’t seem curious about the guest at all—only about food—as he smacked his lips loudly.
“Well, I didn’t stop by the annex last time I returned either, so it might not be bad to head back early today.”
Raon chuckled softly as he watched Wrath dance on Glenn’s head.
“Now I can send you anywhere with peace of mind. You’ve worked hard.”
Glenn spoke as if Raon had accomplished something truly great, gripping his shoulders firmly with both hands.
“Not at all. I still have much to learn.”
Raon bowed his head, asking for more guidance.
“Good. Go on, then.”
Glenn waved his hand gently, urging him on.
“Yes.”
After bowing to Glenn once more, Raon turned to Roenn beside him.
“You’ve worked hard too, Sir Roenn.”
He expressed his gratitude to Roenn, who had accompanied him with a smile and without complaint.
“I haven’t done anything. It was you and Lady Evelyn who worked hard.”
Roenn laughed heartily, saying it felt like he had enjoyed a comfortable trip thanks to Raon and Evelyn.
“Evelyn.”
Finally, he called out to Evelyn, who was still deep in conversation about magic.
“I’ll go ahead first.”
“Okay! I’ll catch up soon! Go ahead and warm up the bed for me!”
Evelyn winked with one eye, implying it would take her a little time and that he should wait in her room.
“W-warm up the bed?”
Glenn’s eyes widened as if he couldn’t believe what he’d heard.
“She’s just talking nonsense as usual.”
Raon waved his hand, saying he’d never even been to Evelyn’s room.
“Hmm, that’s a bit….”
Roenn frowned as if to say that was too distant.
“No, this is just right.”
Glenn lowered his palm, as if to say the future was uncertain and they should maintain this distance for now.
“Sigh….”
Raon shook his head as he watched Glenn and Roenn start to chatter.
“Please take care of Evelyn.”
Before the two could start nagging him, he bowed once more and quickly left the audience chamber.
“Hm….”
Glenn watched the door Raon had exited through before turning to Roenn.
“How was it?”
“They suited each other well. It really felt like watching newlyweds.”
Roenn placed a hand over his chest, saying his heart had raced just from watching Raon and Evelyn again after so long.
“Though one side is pushing a bit too hard.”
He smiled faintly as he glanced at Evelyn’s profile.
“Not that part.”
Glenn lowered his hand, as if that wasn’t what he was asking.
“I’m asking how Raon was during this mission.”
“Surprisingly, he was skilled in architecture, maritime knowledge, and even swimming. It seemed like there was nothing he couldn’t do. But the most astonishing of all….”
Roenn smiled faintly as he recalled Raon taking the lead in everything.
“…was his insight to pinpoint the core of a problem. He never hesitated, even in difficult situations. No matter how overflowing with talent or how smart one is, a lack of experience is inevitable, but that saying doesn’t seem to apply to Sir Raon.”
He let out a deep sigh, saying he felt he had glimpsed the vast vessel that was Raon through this mission.
“Sir Roenn understands perfectly!”
Evelyn, who had been arguing with Larian about magic, raised her thumb to Roenn.
“Our Raon can do anything! He’s perfect!”
She shrugged, saying her heart still felt like it would burst whenever she saw Raon.
[Hey! Focus!]
[N-now’s not the time for that….]
Chamber and Larian frowned from inside the blue spear, telling her to stop getting sidetracked.
“Ahem!”
Glenn pulled the corners of his mouth up, seemingly pleased to hear Roenn and Evelyn praising Raon.
“Good. You’ve worked hard too. Go back and rest for today.”
“Not at all.”
Roenn shook his head, as if to say he would resume his duties as butler now that he was back.
“Tsk! I said it’s fine! There’s nothing more to do today, so go on!”
After telling him to rest, Glenn leaned back into his throne.
“Understood. Then.”
Roenn bowed his head gratefully before leaving the audience chamber.
“That spell removal is incompatible with summoning magic, isn’t it? I think we need to insert another formula between the two magics.”
Evelyn raised a finger, saying another magic should be placed between them.
[No, the order is more important than insertion. If we move the summoning magic forward, it won’t be interfered with!]
Chamber suggested a new method while biting into a lollipop.
[T-that would delay the magic activation. It’s not about insertion or changing the order; we need to improve the formula….]
Larian also disagreed with Evelyn and Chamber, offering a different view.
“Hm….”
Glenn rested his chin on his fist as he watched the archmages argue.
‘In the end, the one who made them this serious is Raon.’
Excluding reclusive geniuses, the only mages on the continent who had reached the transcendent realm were the three here. It was both fascinating and astonishing that these precious talents were debating magic based on Raon’s opinion.
‘He’s growing more and more.’
The current Raon was growing rapidly—not only in martial prowess, but also as a person and as the head of an organization. Moreover, it seemed he was showing the capacity of a Head of House, not merely an ordinary leader.
‘I want to see it….’
Glenn brushed the armrest of his throne and smiled faintly.
‘…the sight of that child sitting in this seat, with me looking up at him.’
If Raon were to sit on this throne and become the Head of House, it seemed he could ascend without regrets and leave this world.
‘No….’
Glenn smiled thinly as he listened to the distant sound of sword winds.
‘Since that guy hasn’t given up either, it’s still too early for such thoughts.’
With that guy still swinging his sword, risking his life to reach the Head of House’s seat, it was too early to entertain such thoughts.
‘Not bad.’
In the past, he would have felt uneasy no matter who sat on this throne, but now he felt he would be satisfied if either of the two he had in mind took the seat.
‘Let’s keep watching.’
Glenn closed his eyes with a deep smile. He slowly opened them again after the sun had set.
“That’s not it! Magic these days is different! You don’t even know properly!”
[Your magic is a 500-year-old antique! It’s worn out, so we need to change the order!]
[A-ah, no. We need to fix the magic formula first….]
The three women continued to argue about magic even as night fell.
“Ugh….”
Glenn blinked his tired eyes and let out a low groan.
‘My ears hurt.’
Hearing the same sounds from day to night made his ears ache and left him with a headache.
“Ahem! Let’s stop now and continue tomorrow….”
Just as Glenn raised his hand to tell them to stop—
“Grandfather, stay out of this!”
[Old geezer, stay with me! Now’s the time to crush these amateurs!]
[P-please be quiet….]
Glenn blinked blankly, hearing for the first time in his own audience chamber that he should leave.
“No, this is Zieghart’s audience chamber….”
“I said be quiet!”
[Ah! Just eat your bread and keep your mouth shut!]
[Can’t you just go to sleep…?]
But the three mages’ gazes were so fierce that he couldn’t say anything else.
“A-alright. Do as you please….”
In the end, Glenn gave up and averted his eyes.
“So, we need to consider the compatibility of the magics first….”
[If the order is perfect, compatibility isn’t needed!]
[B-both of you are wrong?]
Evelyn, Chamber, and Larian continued what was less a discussion and more an argument, completely ignoring him.
“…….”
Glenn lowered his breathing as his pupils trembled slightly.
‘How long do I have to endure this…?’
‘Isn’t Sheryl coming?’
===
‘As expected….’
Raon smacked his lips as he entered the annex garden.
‘Are they trying to extract it using that method?’
>> What method?
Wrath tilted his head, as if asking what he meant.
‘About Evelyn and the archmages. I think I roughly know what method they’ll use.’
From Evelyn, Larian, and Chamber’s conversation, he had a rough idea of what magic they would employ.
‘But I doubt whether it’s really possible.’
It seemed so absurd that the possibility of failure was high.
‘Of course, if they succeed, those bastards will have to fight us on equal footing….’
>> What method is it?
Wrath raised his pupils, looking curious.
‘It’s….’
Just as Raon was about to explain the magic they would use to extract the White Blood Cult’s main base—
“Huh?”
A cool-looking beauty with striking orange pupils walked out from behind the annex.
“Whoa!”
She dropped the laundry she was holding and ran toward him.
“R-Raon! You’ve become even more handsome since I last saw you!”
Encia Yonan. The head of the Yonan family—a woman obsessed with people’s faces—had returned.
“H-how should I describe this? Super handsome? Heavenly handsome? Demon handsome?”
She panted, saying words could no longer express his face.
“Haha….”
Raon swallowed dryly as he watched Encia, whose eyes seemed to sparkle.
‘Another person who troubles me has arrived….’
Though not to Evelyn’s extent, Encia was also someone he found difficult to deal with.
>> So the guest who came looking for you was that airheaded brat.
Wrath sighed, as if he would have to listen to more tedious “handsome” talk.
“Long time no see, Lady Encia.”
“It’s been way too long! I went back to my family to write Volume 2 of ‘The Chronicles of Raon Zieghart’!”
Encia pounded her chest with her fist, saying she had almost died from missing him. The thumping sounds were concerning enough to worry about her ribs.
“Are you still publishing that book?”
“It sells incredibly well! They keep reprinting it! Recently, I even finished writing Volume 4.”
She clasped her hands together, saying she was the Yonan family’s hidden top sales contributor.
“So, about that….”
Encia moved so close he could hear her breathing and stared into his eyes.
“Can you describe the situation when you slew the Demon Slayer Spear and The Fallen One?”
She swayed her pupils like a pendulum, saying she wanted to hear the story directly for her writing.
“Uh….”
Just as Raon stepped back at Encia’s crazed eyes—
“Why not have that conversation over a meal?”
The annex door opened, and an elderly man with a long white beard walked out.
“G-Grandfather?”
Raon’s eyes widened as he saw Sword Demon Rektor, who should have been at the Holy Sword Alliance’s sacred grounds.
“You’re late, Raon.”
Rektor smiled softly, as if welcoming him.
===
“…and that’s how we were able to save the port.”
Raon recounted the events of his journey to his family over dinner.
>> Hmm?
Wrath, who had been patting his bulging belly, frowned.
>> Aren’t you going to talk about this time’s events?
The little guy tilted his head, asking why he wasn’t mentioning finding the White Blood Cult’s main base.
‘The Light Wind Palace kids were instructed not to tell even family members. I can’t break that.’
Present at the dining table were Sylvia, Edgar, Sia, Rektor, Encia, and the maids. While he trusted them all, if word about the White Blood Cult’s main base leaked, all their efforts would be in vain. It was right to keep it secret until the operation began.
“To think that child Martha has grown enough to defeat an Apostle….”
Sylvia chewed her lip thinly, as if recalling Martha’s childhood.
“It’s truly not far off now.”
She closed her eyes and clasped her hands together, hoping Martha would achieve her wish.
“I also heard you saved a spirit corrupted by Blood Energy instead of killing it. Good. If it can be saved, saving it is right. Well done.”
Edgar patted his own shoulder, as if proud that Raon had spared Haerang instead of destroying him.
“…….”
Rektor said nothing, merely pouring wine into his mouth with a slightly sunken gaze.
“Haaa….”
Encia nodded with a face flushed in rapture.
“As expected of Raon! There’s a reason you’re called handsome!”
She also seemed impressed that he had saved Haerang instead of killing him, her eyes glistening with tears.
“I can’t take it! I need to write with this emotion right now!”
Encia threw down her fork and knife, saying she had to write immediately, and dashed off to the room she was staying in.
“She’s a lively young lady.”
Rektor let out a small laugh as he watched Encia’s retreating back.
“I want to see that baby wolf!”
Sia’s eyes sparkled as she said she wanted to see Haerang.
“You’ll be able to see him later. Let’s go together for a break.”
Raon smiled at Sia, promising they would definitely meet.
“Can Dad come too? I’ll prepare thoroughly for a fun time….”
Just as Edgar was placing meat and fish on Sia’s plate—
“I said I’d eat by myself!”
Sia frowned at the meat and fish Edgar had given her, as if her adolescence wasn’t over yet.
“I won’t go with Dad! Come separately!”
She shook her head fiercely, saying she absolutely wouldn’t go with Edgar.
“Whoa….”
Rektor’s eyes widened, seemingly surprised by the change in Sia, who had always been like an angel.
“I-I’m sorry, Father. Sia’s been going through adolescence lately….”
Sylvia flusteredly grabbed Sia’s wrist.
“You, come here!”
She said Sia needed to be scolded this time and dragged her toward her room.
“D-Dad started it first… Ugh!”
Sia tried to resist, but she shrank her shoulders when she saw Sylvia’s sharp gaze.
“Now, don’t scold her too harshly.”
Edgar, seemingly thinking it was his fault, followed after them in a fluster.
“Everyone can go rest.”
Raon nodded to the maids standing behind the dining table, telling them to return and rest.
“Yes. Understood.”
“Enjoy your conversation.”
Helen and Judith understood his meaning, quickly bowed, and led the other maids out of the dining room.
“Has everything been alright?”
Raon approached Rektor and poured him more wine.
“Given the situation, not entirely.”
Rektor smiled bitterly, saying he had been moving around busily in his own way.
“But you don’t seem to have poured out everything either.”
He raised his gaze—serene, as if it had shed all thought.
“How did you know?”
“When you get old, some things just become apparent.”
Rektor smiled thinly, saying it was just a feeling.
“As expected, you can’t fool grandfathers.”
Raon chuckled and nodded.
“Actually….”
He told him about finding the White Blood Cult’s main base after sealing the demonic energy.
“So right now, Lady Chamber, Lady Larian, and Evelyn are creating magic to pull up the White Blood Cult’s main base. It will take time, but they will definitely be able to extract the White Blood Cult’s main base from the sea onto land.”
Raon nodded as he recalled the three archmages’ serious expressions.
“Hm….”
Rektor frowned as he watched the wine slosh in his cup.
“Extracting the White Blood Cult’s main base from the sea might be possible, but we could still lose the war.”
He shook his head, saying the situation wasn’t good, and let out a low sigh.
“Huh? What do you mean…?”
“Before you found the White Blood Cult, I attended a meeting of the Five Demons.”
Rektor flicked his wine cup with his finger as he continued.
“Many topics were discussed, but the most important among them was the communication and movement system. Those bastards have created a system where the Five Demons can request help from each other in dangerous moments, almost mimicking your Five Kings’ teleportation magic.”
He shook his head, saying that the moment they attacked the White Blood Cult, Derus and the Heavenly Demon would be notified.
“Since it’s made with Divine Power, magic blocking is meaningless. Moreover, they have a choice.”
“A choice….”
Raon instantly understood what choice Rektor was referring to.
“You mean they could abandon supporting the White Blood Cult and instead strike the vacant Five Kings.”
To attack the White Blood Church Main Headquarters, at minimum, he, King Lecross, and either Chamber or the Magic Tower Lord would be required. It was certain that the Four Demons would not miss the moment the upper-tier Transcenders left their posts and would assault the kingdoms.
‘If The Fallen One and the Heavenly Demon move simultaneously, there’s absolutely no way to stop them.’
Glenn could hold off the Heavenly Demon and Derus, but he couldn’t face both at once. If they attacked the White Blood Cult, a hole would be torn open, and they would never miss that opportunity.
“It seems you understand the situation.”
Rektor let out a short sigh, as if he had read his expression.
“Yes. If that’s the case, there’s no solution. We can’t stop the assault…”
“To be honest, I can’t stop Derus and the Heavenly Demon either. No, the White Blood Lord is the same.”
He said he had seen and felt it himself, clenching his fist with a trembling hand.
“That’s why I found someone who can stop them.”
Rektor stood his knife up like a sword and stabbed the meat on the plate. His blue eyes glinted faintly, like moonlight spilling through the window.
“The former Holy Sword Alliance Lord.”
