Aster who found himself in the middle of two opposite sword paths couldn’t help but frown to his insides, sure they looked really troublesome to deal with at such a short distance and in fact those two had perfectly timed their swords to move in synchrony, however it wasn’t a situation that would really push him to the limit Aster was sure they knew it.

‘I wonder what are these two princesses scheming’, thought Aster as he moved his right hand with which he was holding onto his sword, back, as if he was going to sheath the sword in an invisible scabbard hanging from his back.

Of course, Aster didn’t have a scabbard on his back, not only for training, but he is the type to hang his sword on his waist, well at least when he is only wielding one of them.

“Clack!”, the reason of the previously described motion, was for Aster to position his sword on his back, in order to meet the one of the purple lightning princess, it’s worth mentioning that Valentina had made a small jump to make use of gravity in order to increase the strength of her descending slash, which is why the clashing sound produced by her sword reaching Aster was decently loud.

That being said, Valentina not only found her sword completely unable to advance but she was forced to the side as Aster jumped backwards while twisting his hand to make sure that the purple lightning princess couldn’t use her sword unless she retrieved it.

The previous maneuver was executed perfectly in time for Aster to avoid being hit by Agnes’s fierce upwards slash, as expected from the sportsy sun diamond princess, her sword produced a “swoosh” as it parted the air in the now empty space in front of her.

Even when their combo failed, the two princesses had placed themselves at a distance and position such that even if they couldn’t hit Aster, their swords wouldn’t reach the other, they had already experienced an instance like that before so it was to be expected from two sword obsessed girls as they.

Aster who safely landed on the ground the next second, saw those two smiling at each other instead of chasing him to make use of the “weak point” created when he had to build up his stance again, and he couldn’t help but ask.

“Am I missing something, ladies?”, which made those two put on “serious” expressions as they answered.

“No, no, that was a clean and clever maneuver, right Agnes?”, said the purple lightning princess as she gazed at her cousin who nodded in response.

“Mm, it was, the only thing I would like to mention is that, it looks hard to pull off by those that don’t have “eyes in their backs” like Aster”, casually said the sportsy sun diamond princess, as she slightly smirked at Aster, who now understood what those two princesses were playing at.

‘They really are competitive huh….’, thought Aster, basically those cute fierce princesses had decided that if their attacks can’t physically land on him, they’ll at least slash him figuratively.

As in, Aster is supposed to show the girls of the sect how to properly fight at mortal level, which means not is to promote no complicated, flashy or hard to execute movements, in other words low requirement, simple and efficient should be the core of the fighting style he is showcasing.

But then, instead of the simple way he has been dodging those two’s attacks so far, Aster blocked an attack coming from behind without even looking backwards, to then jump away from Agnes while also twisting his hand to prevent Valentina from taking advantage of the situation to launch a second attack.

Alone, each of those movements could probably be executed by those cute girls from the sect, at the very least the ones from the battle peak shouldn’t have any trouble, however combining, timing and executing them together properly, at mortal level, that’s a different story.

It’s not like it was an impossible task, by the end of the week, movements like that one would be in the repertory of all the girls of the sect, but certainly Aster had raised his combat level a notch up, or more accurately he was “forced” to, which is what’s important here, as that’s what made those two softly laugh, at least until they heard Aster saying.

“Mmm, I expected it from Agnes, but to think that the “responsible” miss Valentina would participate in something like this, quite unusual, what does our dear public think, I wonder?”, said Aster, which made the smile on the purple lightning princess’s stiff on the spot.

“I think I prefer her this way though, she looks like she is having a lot of fun as well”, mumbled a couple of the junior disciples.

Valentina does give some public lessons for the girls of the Black Sword when she has an empty space in her schedule, and they are actually quite good, the girls that attend do have fun, but while the purple lightning princess does enjoy said lessons, they hadn’t seen her acting so freely before, which is why they couldn’t help but giggle at this new side of their senior sister Valentina.

Fun fact, they call Agnes “sister” instead of “senior sister”, because it hasn’t been that long since Agnes started actively participating as an elder in the sect, so even if she was given the position, she was basically one of the disciple’s group, bringing a talented girl for her seeded spot in the sect was her first important task, and she found Tiana that way, Valentina on the other hand directly joined as a core elder and acted like one from the very beginning.

‘Ughhh!’, Valentina could feel the countless gazes focusing on her not to mention Aster’s tasing smile being directed her way and she felt the urge to dig a hole to hide.

‘Wanting to use those cuties to pressure me it’s not a bad tactic, but you are still too green for that’, amusingly thought Aster as he saw Valentina gazing his way.

‘I wouldn’t tease her too much darling, it might not appear so, but the princesses of the lightning amethyst are actually the most “rebellious” among them all, it’s just that they also grow out of that phase quite early, unlike the ones from the other families, it’s a shame that there wasn’t one in my generation~’, jokingly said the dragon mother from within the mind space.

And while Aster was having a hard time imagining the responsible Valentina acting like Alice, as if Lilia was a prophet, her words became a reality the next second when the light in Valentina’s eyes changed to a much sharper one, one that a certain core elder from the White Sword faction recognized from back when they first met.

“Agnes, same tactic”, said the purple lightning princess as she gazed at her cousin to then charge right away, followed by Agnes who seemed a bit “surprised” for a second but still moved alongside Valentina.

Just like stated, they used a similar tactic, as in Agnes was the first to attack divided in two parts, the first one being a feint of course, so her sword was slashed downwards at Aster’s chest.

“Clack!”, as usual, the sword of the sportsy sun diamond princess produced quite the loud impact when it clashed against Aster’s, however that wasn’t Agnes’s aim, nope, the same very moment her sword landed on Aster’s, her arms slightly tensed as she put all her strength into pushing frontwards.

That was her real attack, one in which she applied as much pressure on Aster’s sword as she could in a short period of time, without gaining momentum, which wasn’t enough to break through Aster’s stance, he has the toughest defense and strongest offense between the three of them after all.

But it’s not like Agnes is lacking in terms of sheer physical strength, she does her share of training without relying in spirit energy every single day after all, so even under these circumstances, the sportsy sun diamond princess was capable of forcing Aster’s sword back, until it was not that far from reaching his body.

Of course, it stopped at that, because the closer one’s arms are from one’s body, the easier it is to apply strength to one object, in this case a sword and the opposite is also true.

In other words, Aster’s defense became tougher the more his sword grew closer to his body, while Agnes’s offense became weaker the more her arms extended, but none of that matter because she had fulfilled her job.

And here the sudden change in the air around Valentina, made its entrance, she who had remained behind while Agnes did her thing, didn’t circle around Aster, nor did she look for a weak point, but simply charged head on.

“Clack!”, the purple lightning princess thrusted her sword frontwards, the immediate impact actually made Aster’s sword which was already blocking Agnes’s one, to move back a couple more of centimeters, just for a second.

‘Was her aim to try and make me get marked by my own sword… no, these two wouldn’t aim for something like this’, thought Aster.

And he was right, with a fluid twist of her hand, the purple lightning princess changed to use the flat side of her sword to block Aster’s one from moving to the side, while Agnes made sure to keep pressing from the front, in other words locking down Aster’s sword so that he couldn’t attack with it.

But that also meant that their focus was somewhere else, however the punch, kick or grappling technique Aster expected to come from the sportsy sun diamond princess, didn’t appear.

Instead, it was Valentina the one who followed up, the purple lightning princess took a step to the side and without changing the position of her sword, she raised her leg to then aim to stomp right at the back of Aster’s knee.

‘No matter how much of a monster you are, at least as a mortal the weak areas remain the same’, thought Valentina, she gave up on the idea of scoring a point and instead focused in “weakening” the monster in front of her.

A solid impact made all the present people’s eyes shine for a split of a second, Valentina’s attack did connect, however Aster managed to raise his leg, using his shin to block the purple lightning princess’s stomp.

“Tsk”, softly clicking her tongue, Valentina tightened her grip on the grip of her handle and then forcefully slid the flat side of the blade downwards as she bent her leg and then using Aster’s solid stance as support, she took impulse to jump backwards, making a beautiful twirl in the air.

“What the hell is that body of yours made of…”, mumbled Valentina as she landed right next to Agnes, they had regrouped quite cleanly, on the other hand though she was the one that attacked, her foot felt a bit numb due to the previous clash.

“It might not look like it, but I’m actually quite good at defense, in fact depending on the situation my defense is stronger than my offense”, jokingly said Aster to which Valentina softly snorted.

However, as she was about to call out such an obvious “lie”, the purple lightning princess who had turned to see Agnes, saw her cousin looking away as if she was avoiding her gaze.

‘No way, are you telling me that he is not boasting… and it didn’t cross this little girl’s mind to tell me beforehand!’, inwardly shouted Valentina, her right eyebrow twitched as she added this to the list of things, she’ll be discussing with Agnes later.

Valentina is not one to underestimate even the most worthless of the enemies she faces, but everyone here saw Aster killing groups of enemies with higher realms than himself, as if they were fishes in a chopping board not too long ago.

Not to mention that Aster’s swordsmanship is insanely fierce, he always overpowered his enemies taking control of the fight with force, so she had a hard time believing that his defense might be stronger than his offense.

Michaela on the other hand, was present when Aster publicly “explained” how the armor produced by a certain treasure girl was a common trait of the lineage they shared.

‘I’m pretty sure he outright lied back then, but at the very least that armor is indeed a lineage trait, which means that… he indeed has defense focused talents’, thought the core elder from the White Sword.

“I’ll deal with you later for not sharing such vital information, but for now, aren’t you going to say something about that”, ultimately said Valentina as she gazed at Agnes, while she scratched her cheek with her index finger.

“Mm”, with a soft nod, the two princesses looked Aster who softly laughed to his insides, in case you wonder what they were talking about, it was the very faint purple line that appeared on his shoulder.

To be honest, it was barely noticeable so even Valentina didn’t want to claim that she had scored a point, unless Aster recognized it, which she was urging to decide right now.

“It does count, though the mark is really faint, the maneuver to achieve it deserves the point”.

Even if she did her best to hide it, Aster could see Valentina’s eyes brighten on the spot, which he couldn’t help but find cute, something that didn’t escape the sportsy sun diamond princess’s eyes.

Feeling the intense gaze from her younger cousin, which Valentina confused with a complain since she got to score her point before her, while in truth she was only feeling a bit… jealous.

“Ahem, I took a slash from you before, so don’t look at me like that, let’s go again”, said the purple lightning princess.

But as they proposed to charge at Aster like before, however, this time Aster took the initiative to reach out to them.

With a couple of heavy steps Aster had appeared in front of those two, his right arm moved upwards to the right which made it seem as if his sword was going to slash in the same direction, however, instead of that his arm extended a bit more to the side to then curve downwards, so that he changed the direction of his attack to the left.

In terms of enemies, he was first targeting Agnes but midway changed to go after Valentina, the order was important here because Agnes slashed her sword in a try to block the incoming attack, but her speed played against her here because Aster changed the trajectory of his sword and her attack was already past the point of return.

“Clack!”, of course Valentina reacted perfectly in time to interfere, so her sword clashed against Aster’s, the problem is that she was static and couldn’t even maneuver her sword to deviate some of the impact, therefore she was hit head on by the totality of Aster’s brute force.

The result was that while Agnes retrieved her sword to cut Aster’s path so that he couldn’t follow up, Valentina was forced a few meters back.

‘That was a simple technique but it was executed so flawlessly that even Agnes was tricked… in fact, I would have been the same if my reaction time wasn’t a bit faster than hers’, thought the purple lightning princess to then softly snort to her insides.

This looked as if Aster was throwing their little joke about him using too complex movements, right back at them, even after he had already got back at them for that, in other words he was being “petty” and that was the drop that broke the camel’s back.

With a little exchange of nods, the two princesses rushed towards Aster who this time also charged at them, this brought anticipation to those cute girls who were all fired up since they saw Valentina scoring a point, because they could see in those three’s eyes that the fight was about reach its climax.

“Clack!”, Aster and Agnes both slashed their swords at each other head on, resulting in a loud wood clashing against wood sound, surprisingly Agnes held on against Aster not retreating even a centimeter due to the impact and yet she gave up the “glory” of that achievement, willingly by smacking Aster’s sword to the side, breaking the stalemate.

As for Valentina, she lowered her body and hen thrusted upwards from the side so that her sword would reach the center of Aster’s chest, the purple lightning princess had taken things a notch up, because in her current position Aster couldn’t even kick her.

In exchange she was completely unable to follow up though, because she had to get up for that, not to mention that Aster was able to dodge by turning his body to the side.

However, that also allowed Agnes a very fraction of a second to pounce on Aster, with her sword making a wide slash that travelled all the way from his left shoulder to his right thigh, it’s worth mentioning that Aster had moved to the left to get out of the reach of Valentina’s sword.

“Ha!”, the previous happened at the same time as the sportsy sun diamond princess had made her move, so her sword was descending just as Aster moved to the side, it looked as if he was putting himself in the way of Agnes’s sword.

Which was partially the case, because that’s what those two aimed to make happen, after all if they couldn’t break through Aster’s solid stance, they had to make use of it for their benefit, that’s how Valentina scored her point.

Of course, it was easy to say it, but making it happen was a completely different thing, like right now, Agnes hasn’t moved as fast as a second ago, during her whole time in this place.

“Clack!”, as a result, her sword heavily landed on Aster’s one, travelling through its whole length before continuing its way to the ground, because Agnes also applied as much strength into that slash as possible.

With a “thud”, Agnes’s sword reached the ground and made a noticeable track as the sportsy sun diamond princess jumped backwards regrouping with her cousin while she was smiling from the bottom of her heart, the reason is simple, there was a blue mark left on Aster’s forearm.
