The Villain's Story - Chapter 751 751: The necklace(2)

After a long and arduous climb to the top, Sabrina and Alan both noticed some odd changes. One of which affected Alan more than Sabrina. It was the smell.
The mana quality had changed, it had become purer, along with other changes, but the most important and the one that affected Alan most was the smell.
It was of blood, copious amounts of blood had seeped into the ground and became one with it. The blood of so many creatures that produced such a noxious smell it almost made Alan puke. He had to block his nose to merely survive, and soon after, Sabrina had to do it as well.
The ground was wet, they were dirty beyond compare, and it was hard to climb after a certain point. However, soon they saw light. As if his strength suddenly multiplied, Alan broke through the ground with a powerful jump.
Finally free from the network of tunnels, Alan was greeted by a strange, horrific sight. Sabrina climbed up after him, and was silent with shock.
In front of them, behind them, all around them the ground was littered with corpses hung on crosses made of a strange, red metal.
Corpses of orcs, elves, dwarves, even the occasional human, creatures of disgusting proportions, inhumane monsters. Thousands, upon thousands, of corpses with their stomachs cut and guts out in the open hung on red, metallic crosses.
“…”
Sabrina couldn’t help but vomit at the horrific sight. Alan held it in, and raised his head to the sky, noticing seven scattered moons of a blood-red color, along with clusters of rock in the sky.
They were pieces of other moons, destroyed by something. This planet had more than seven moons, but something sure didn’t like them.
Alan activated ‘Dragon Eyes’ and searched everywhere he could, but the further he searched he just saw more corpses, in the same state.
“Damn.”
There was still a spatial field around, that was preventing him from making portals. He made a hasty decision in the heat of the moment when he came here by himself as soon as heard Sabrina was gone.
He thought it was a mistake, but now, he was glad the rest of the group did not have to see this sight. Furthermore, he was sure most of them wouldn’t be able to stomach it. Even he was having a hard time. He had blocked his nose, but there was still a nauseous feeling arising within him.
He expanded his search, doing his best to find what, or who, was blocking his portals. After a while, he was surprised to see the moons were a part of it.
The seven bloody moons, were a part of the spatial field blocking their escape. Could he destroy a moon? Probably, but he was willing to find another way out.
“Alan…”
Sabrina finally rose from the ground, wiping her mouth clean as she pointed towards her necklace.
“It’s leading me somewhere.”
He turned around, and noticed the necklace emitting mana in a certain direction. Whatever it was pointing at, it was outside his range of detection.
He was uneasy, there was something about this planet that made him on edge, but as of now, he had no choice but to follow wherever the necklace was leading.
Either that or wander this bloody sea of corpses without direction. The growing unease made him incredibly wary. Without speaking, he picked Sabrina up and sped in the direction the mana of the necklace led him.
He kept Dragon eyes on constantly, scanning everything around them for signs of danger as they traversed the putrid planet.
“… Aren’t you overdoing it?”
Sabrina asked, she knew how much of a toll ‘Dragon eyes’ was. She was wary of everything as well, but thought this was too extreme of a measure.
“There’s something here.”
He didn’t know what it was yet, but his senses kept him aware of it. Whatever was causing the spatial field, whatever was putting him on edge, was dangerous. And it wasn’t easy to make a dragon on edge.
As far as he knew, only three things were able to make a spatial field like this. An artifact, another user of the spatial element, like the horror back on Gigantia, or a being of great power. Enough to affect the world easily.
He had high hopes of it being an artifact, because of the presence of the moons. He didn’t think he would be able to deal with the other two. He was unable to defeat the horror back on Gigantia without Enlightenment, hell, he was about to use [Possession] to defeat it.
He would have died there if not for the bloodline of the Phoenix and some special conditions. Him unlocking Enlightenment was purely luck. And even now he was unable to control it at all. He needed Sabrina to mess with his soul crystal to put him in that state.
‘I might need Aranus.’
The strongest skill in his possession was not his domain, his dragonic skills or even his aura, it was [Possession]. Whatever was here, could overpower him, but nothing in the entire universe could overpower Aranus.
It had been a while since he talked with him as well, and the last time he used [Possession] was when he was fighting Ezra. He had been forced to use it the second time, but was unsuccessful.
The growing unease, the wariness this planet invoked within him, made him think he might have no choice but to use possession.
“Sabrina, when I tell you too, do the trick to activate Enlightenment, or whenever you think it’s appropriate.”
“… But you can’t control it?”
“Just do it, this planet is giving me the creeps.”
And as they travelled through the sea of defiled corpses, they encountered a clearing. One devoid of any corpse of a creature but one.
A clearing enough to fill thousands of corpses, but only one being occupied it, nailed to a cross in a gruesome, hateful manner.
A corpse that made him certain he had to use his trump card to survive.
