The Werewolf's Vampire Mate - Chapter 616 - The Light
Chapter 616 – The Light
Gyles
Pacing around the room.
I hate being kept out of the loop.
You should trust your mate.
You don't have to do everything on your own.
My wolf encourages me and it is easy to listen to the words but it is hard to actually listen. I should trust him. I don't have anything to worry about. He promised that he was going to fix things and he is going to keep his promise.
Blue never lies.
Blue is honest.
He is the backbone of this relationship.
I trust him more than I have ever trusted anyone in my life.
So why am I so fucking scared?
"You need to calm down,'' Rex walks up to me and stops me in motion. He grabs both of my hands and pulls me to a stop; my eyes move up to his face and I see the worry in his eyes. He wants me to calm down but inside, he is freaking out—I can see it.
"You are not calm.''
He scoffs "I am."
I squeeze his hands in mine tightly and he manages a faint smile "He will be fine,'' he says but it sounds more like a question. he is not sure and he needs me for validation.
"We have survived so much. Blue will survive this.''
I am doing this for the two of us. giving him assurance and myself. "Do you think he can do this?'' I ask.
He smiles "There is nothing to it. he just has to come back to us. that is all I want."
This is the way I feel and Rex feels the same way too. He leads me to the bed, and I sit down gently next to him. he smiles as I look at him, my heart is racing, this is a crucial moment for us. once this is sorted out, we can go home. I want to go home.
I can't even believe that I am calling the community home. Suddenly, that is all it is to me.
Home.
"Gyles,'' I look up when I hear her voice.
Eleanor is still here which just means this is not over. I stand up from the bed with Rex still watching me as I walk over to her. there is a faint smile on her face "You're still here.''
She nods.
"Why?'' I ask.
Her eyes roam around the room, suddenly, we are not alone anymore. the other people, the ones I was with inside the book surround the room. Now, they are all staring at me intently. I should freak out by this. They are all dead—ghosts, it is something that should be scary but I have been with these people, I know the things they went through and all I want is for them to be finally free.
"You are all out of the book,'' I mutter, a slow smile forming on my face.
"It is not over but it seems like we are close. Come with us." she stretches her hand out to me. I can't help but take it in mine. her hands are cold and I expected it to pass across but it doesn't. I feel her touch instantly.
"How is this happening?''
She smiles "Come on,'' she pulls me out of the room and I follow her immediately. Rex is quiet but I hear his footsteps behind me.
"Where are we going?'' I ask her as they all lead me down the stairs. I know this trail all too well. This is where Blue wouldn't want us to be. He said he needed to do this on his own and I trust him but if they are all out, that means they might be leaving and maybe they want to say goodbye.
I don't know.
"G, blue wouldn't want us to come down here, he told us to stay in the room.'' Rex manages, with a stutter.
He is right but I don't know what to do.
The ghosts are leading me here. I can't just refuse to go with them "I know, but they are leading me into the room.''
He sighs but doesn't say anything else. I take that as him agreeing and I follow Eleanor.
We enter the potion room and I see a bright light coming from. the door. The one that leads to the dark room. I know that Blue and Major are probably inside but I hope that they are okay. I need them to be okay because I can't handle otherwise.
We follow the light with no hesitation because it seems like Eleanor is excited about it.
The moment we enter the room, I see Blue. he is holding the book and that bright light is just above the ceiling. Like a vortex of some sort. It is blinding and I can't even look at it closely.
"This is it,'' Eleanor manages calmly as she looks at the light.
Blue turns immediately to me and the shock is on his face. "What are you doing here?'' he asks immediately.
I shrug because I don't even know "She brought me here, what is happening?'' o ask him even though he looks pretty engrossed in the book. I can't say per se what is going on but it looks progressing.
He turns back to the book and I turn to make sure that Rex is still here. I knew that he wasn't really interested in coming with us but there is just something different about him.
Confidence that he didn't really have.
"Can you see the light,'' Blue asks, not looking at me.
I nod "Can you see them?'' the room is full of them. they have covered a mass apace of the room but they are all focused on the light and it seems to be getting bigger. I know what this is already. It all makes sense.
They are leaving.
"This is goodbye,'' I manage, looking at Eleanor.
She turns away from the light and nods slightly with a smile on her face. "Thank you for everything." she manages.
Slowly walking away from me and closer to the light.
I watch the rest of them follow her.
This is it.
