Chapter 888: End of Black Sigil (2)
Soon, as all the beings fighting the dark beast retreated inside the barrier, Maximus, the Overseers, all the Archons, and countless Overlords teleported to the periphery of the Absolute Death Zone.
“We’re here…” Maximus muttered, staring at the place before him.
Seeing it for the first time, even he felt a pang of dread.
It was too volatile and destructive, like a constant big bang in motion. One wrong move, and they’d be crushed to dust.
With Aointh, the Archon of Space and Time, leading the way, they advanced carefully, calculating every step.
“Tsk, I wonder how those members of the Black Sigil managed to survive here,” Sunkrith muttered, a trace of amazement in his voice.
“They must have found a stable zone that keeps them safe,” Maximus explained.
The one who discovered the Black Sigil’s hideout was none other than his daredevil daughter, Layla.
At first, she thought of exploring the Absolute Death Zone, hoping to find some hidden treasures.
What she didn’t expect was that, instead of treasure, she would stumble upon their enemy’s refuge.
When Maximus learned of this, instead of praising her, he scolded her so harshly that she’s been grounded ever since.
Going to the Absolute Death Zone for an adventure? How could she be so reckless?
If even the slightest thing had gone wrong, not even Maximus could have saved her.
Determined to teach her a lesson, he grounded her to reflect on her mistake.
Soon, after navigating through the absolute death zone, they reached the stable space Layla had discovered.
“Surround the area. Don’t let anyone escape,” Luxion ordered coldly.
Deploying over a million chaos void outposts, they sealed every direction that nothing could slip through unnoticed, not even a fly.
Once everything was arranged, Maximus, the Overseers, and the Archons entered.
Changing from a dreadful, chaotic void to a paradise no less than the central chaos region, they were a little shocked.
“No wonder they didn’t want to leave. They’ve found the perfect place,” Maximus muttered with interest.
“Hmph! It doesn’t matter. Now that we’ve found them, there’s no escape,” Luxion said coldly, as his gaze swept arrogantly across the space.
“Found you, demon Lazarus! Come out and meet your demise!” Luxion’s voice thundered across the entire space.
Hearing him, even before Lazarus appeared, the members of the Black Sigil fell into panic.
From Overlords to Archons, once they sensed the arrival of their enemies, there was only one thought that filled their minds: escape.
Meanwhile, knowing they’d been discovered, Lazarus calmly flew out to face them.
“I didn’t expect you to find us so easily…” Lazarus muttered, scanning everyone without a hint of fear.
“Oh? It seems you still have a few cards to play,” Luxion said, his eyes narrowing as he probed him.
In the past, Luxion and Lazarus had been the best of friends, the two strongest Archons, mastering the light and darkness in the Planar Chaos Region.
But as if possessed, Lazarus began to change. He grew twisted, spreading destruction without reason or restraint.
From then on, the two became bitter enemies, locked in endless battles of strength and will.
Now, facing his old rival again, Luxion’s killing intent flared so violently that everyone nearby felt it burn in the chaotic void.
“Why don’t I show you how far apart we’ve grown?” Lazarus smirked.
Though he knew he couldn’t defeat them, he was confident he could take down a few and escape alive.
“Hmph! Enough talk!”
Impatient, Luxion charged straight at him, intent on ending it in one strike.
Seeing this, Maximus and the Overseers stood by and watched in silence, while the Archons began hunting the remaining members of the Black Sigil.
Soon, as the two titans clashed, everyone thought Luxion would easily suppress Lazarus.
But when their powers collided, the outcome gave them a shock.
Like an ordinary Archon facing an Overseer, Lazarus easily blocked Luxion’s strike and sent him flying with a counterattack.
“This—”
“How is that possible? How could Lazarus be this strong?”
With just one exchange, everyone saw the vast difference in their power and Lazarus’s.
As the strongest Overseer, Luxion should possess the power above everyone else.
Even if Lazarus had grown stronger, the gap between them shouldn’t have been this great.
“Cough~ Cough~, You! Have you mastered the path beyond the Archon of Law?!” Luxion asked in shock.
“What do you think?” Lazarus smiled faintly.
“The power of the dark beast and mine are quite similar, aren’t they? It shouldn’t be a surprise that I possess power beyond your comprehension.”
Although he hadn’t fully surpassed the boundary of the Archon of Law, Lazarus had taken a glimpse at the Path of Myriad Laws!
“Hmph! A mere imitation is nothing!”
With a sharp gesture, Luxion signaled the other Overseers, trying to besiege Lazarus together.
Although dishonorable, against a powerful enemy, pride and ethics were a mere hindrance.
Luxion wasn’t here to rekindle an old rivalry; they were here to kill the threat and erase the pest that had long troubled them.
Encircled by seven Overseers, Lazarus’s expression turned grim.
Though he had touched the realm of the Myriad of Laws, he was still just an Archon like the rest.
As he dodged, blocked, and countered, Lazarus’ energy rapidly drained as he began to falter.
Watching from afar, even Maximus was in shock.
He hadn’t expected the combined might of the Overseers to be this overwhelming.
It wasn’t just their individual strength, but the unity of their powers that could rival even a tier-14 being of Chaos!
He had initially thought he’d need to step in once the Overseers reached their limit. But now, it seemed they could finish Lazarus without him.
Relieved, Maximus shifted his focus, studying the power Lazarus had displayed.
Although it was just a glimpse, it filled him with endless inspiration, ideas on how he might merge the essences of the Archons of Laws he’d mastered to create something greater.
As he watched in fascination, Maximus suddenly noticed Lazarus’s tendency to escape.
“Watch out! He’s about to run!” Maximus warned.
Hearing him, the Overseers intensified their assault, giving Lazarus no room to breathe.
But as if anticipating it, Lazarus began to burn his Archon of Law, tearing open a path to flee.
Seeing the Overseers struggle to hold him back, Maximus finally stepped in.
“Don’t even think of escaping, this will be your final burial…”
