The World Conquest: Giving Birth To Become A God - Chapter 889: Lazarus Escape

Chapter 889: Lazarus Escape
Assisting the Overseers, they began surrounding Lazarus.
“Another one?!”
Feeling the power of Maximus’s attack, Lazarus was in shock.
“Haha, this is your end!” Luxion laughed, not stopping his assault.
Feeling his strength begin to fade, Lazarus gritted his teeth and started burning his Archon of Law.
Although it would damage his foundation and might even cause regression, as long as he could escape, nothing else mattered.
Soon, with greater power, Lazarus tried to pry open a path for escape.
Unfortunately, Maximus and the Overseers weren’t simple opponents.
Although weaker individually, they had greater numbers and, more importantly, a massive reserve of Myriad Energy.
Having the ability to replenish their energy at all times, they could bide their time and trap Lazarus like a rat in a bottle.
Slowly, as Lazarus became exhausted, the battle turned in their favour.
Unable to do anything, despair began to fill Lazarus.
Not only had he not anticipated that there was another Overseer powerhouse among them, even the vast reserve of Myriad Energy was beyond his calculations.
Feeling that his life had entered its final countdown, Lazarus’s thoughts began to spin as he thought of a way to turn his situation around.
“Do I really have to do it…”
Even if his Archon of Law was burned to nothingness, he could rebuild it in time.
But if he used the method in his mind, he would be gambling on a future where he might not even remain himself.
“No! I have no other choice!”
As their attacks grew fiercer, Lazarus knew he was out of time.
Running through the formation in his body, all his power, from origin, physique, and path of law, began to incinerate, extinguishing in an instant.
Before Maximus and the Overseers could even react, Lazarus’s body became a lifeless husk.
“This… what happened? Did he just escape?”
“No, impossible. This body is real; it contains all of Lazarus’s origin. He could only die in such a state.”
“But we didn’t even inflict any severe damage! How could he die instantly?”
“Tiara, can you deduce Lazarus’s thread of fate?”
“It seems… his fate was completely cut off. He should have just died. However…”
If they hadn’t witnessed the scene themselves, they would have thought Lazarus was truly dead.
However, after seeing his self-immolation, the only conclusion they could reach was that he had escaped.
Lazarus wasn’t someone who would die silently. If he intended to end his life, he wouldn’t go alone; he’d surely take one or two of them with him.
Meanwhile, Maximus, witnessing the scene, felt a premonition.
Using the True Path to deduce Lazarus’s state, he found only vague darkness.
“He’s still alive…” Maximus concluded.
Since there was still an induction, Lazarus shouldn’t have died.
The question was, how did he do it? And where was he now?
Unable to answer any of those questions, they could only focus on wiping out all the remaining members of the Black Sigil.
From the Overlords to the Archons, they spared no one, ensuring every last one truly died.
Especially the Archons, they were truly difficult to kill.
Even if their bodies were completely destroyed and their Paths of Law shattered, as long as a single strand of their will remained, they could reincarnate.
Determined to cut the grass from its roots, they slaughtered everyone, leaving not a trace of their existence behind in the chaotic void.
“It’s over…” they sighed, though not a hint of joy appeared on their faces.
Even after killing all members of the Black Sigil, knowing Lazarus was still alive felt like a thorn stuck in their throats.
Instead of relief, dread filled their hearts.
Without any ties to hold him back, Lazarus might become even more terrifying when he returned.
“Don’t worry. He shouldn’t be able to bother us for a few hundred million years,” Maximus comforted.
Although Lazarus was alive, his condition was clearly poor.
To regain his former strength, even hundreds of millions of years might not be enough if luck wasn’t on his side.
Given that much time, Maximus should already be strong enough to bring him down single-handedly.
“That’s good to hear…” Hearing that conclusion, their hearts finally eased a little.
A few million years earlier, they were eager to launch an all-out attack on the dark-beast tide.
However, worried the enemy might ambush them on the route, they held back.
Now, without the Black Sigil and Lazarus, they could finally concentrate on the dark-beast tide.
“Let’s go back. This place might not stay stable for long,” Aointh warned, seeing cracks appear in the space.
They were still inside the Absolute Death Zone. If this stable pocket collapsed, they would be buried alive.
Noticing the danger, they quickly evacuated everyone.
—
Meanwhile, somewhere in the chaotic void, in the deepest part of the dark-beast tide, Lazarus slowly opened his eyes.
However, instead of feeling relief that he had survived, he only felt a sense of solemnness.
Looking at his abhorrent body, bloated with disgusting flesh, and hearing chaotic thoughts filled with nothing but destruction, Lazarus nearly went mad.
“I’ve become a dark beast!”
While the Black Sigil worshipped dark beasts, Lazarus had always treated them like rats for experiments. Now, trapped in the body of what he despised, he felt nothing but disgust.
Worse, he hadn’t reincarnated as an origin dark beast as he’d planned, only a weak, ordinary one without power.
“It seems my technique is still full of flaws.”
If he had been reborn into an origin dark beast, he could have accepted it. But in this feeble, mediocre form, he felt hopeless about the future.
“No—this might be my chance!”
In a weak body, he could better acclimate and gain complete control. In an origin dark beast, he might lose himself without even knowing.
Besides, dark beasts could grow. In fact, they had the fastest growth and greatest potential in the chaotic void. As long as they devoured energy, they could evolve to higher levels.
Comforting himself, Lazarus slowly relaxed and began to sort the chaotic thoughts of destruction in his mind.
“Soon, I will have my revenge… and ascend to the being of chaos….”
