Timeless Assassin - Chapter 1048 Escape

Chapter 1048 Escape
(Meanwhile, On Planet Helion-6)
While the battlefield around Moltherak had descended into a storm of draconic lightning and collapsing gravity fields, another brutal clash continued raging across the opposite side of the shattered continent, where Mauriss found himself locked in a relentless three-on-one battle against Lu Han, Yu Kiro, and Du Trask.
At first glance, the situation looked far more favorable than the earlier six-God ambush.
However, the moment the fight truly settled into rhythm, Mauriss quickly realized that the pressure had barely decreased.
Because unlike the chaotic melee earlier, these three had begun coordinating their attacks with frightening precision.
*SKRRRKK*
Lu Han’s blade crashed down toward Mauriss with brutal force as he unleashed [Heavenly Crescent Break], the divine arc of pressure splitting the air apart while Mauriss barely managed to catch the strike with his Origin Dagger.
*SHINGGGGG*
The impact detonated through his arms like a thunderclap, before- *BOOM*
He found himself being blasted sideways across the battlefield before he even had a chance to stabilize.
“Don’t give him breathing room!” Lu Han shouted as he pressed forward immediately, his sword flashing again toward Mauriss’s throat.
Yu Kiro arrived next.
The God shot downward from above as divine energy condensed
around his spear.
[Celestial Impact]
The attack tore through the air like a falling comet aimed directly at Mauriss’s spine.
As Mauriss twisted violently in response, his dagger flicking upward in defence.
*CLANG*
The Origin blade intercepted Yu Kiro’s spear just barely as the collision sent shockwaves rippling across the broken plains.
However before Mauriss could capitalize on the opening-
Du Trask appeared behind him.
“Fuck you!”
Du Trask said as his leg crashed forward while activating [Meteor Kick], the blow smashing directly into Mauriss’s ribs.
*BOOOOM*
The Deceiver was launched across the battlefield like a cannonball as the ground shattered beneath the impact point.
Dust erupted into the air.
Mauriss rolled across the rubble once before flipping back onto his feet.
Blood dripped from the corner of his mouth.
Yet instead of anger…
He laughed.
“НАНАНАНА-!”
Mauriss wiped the blood from his lips with the back of his hand as his eyes gleamed with manic amusement.
“Oh this is delightful,” Mauriss said as he tilted his head while
watching the three Gods advance toward him again.
“I was wondering how I would perform against you lot under coordinated combat conditions,” Mauriss said as he casually twirled the Origin Dagger between his fingers.
“And I must say…”
His grin widened.
“You boys are doing much better than I expected.”
Lu Han did not respond.
Instead he shot forward again while activating [Heaven Piercing
Lance], the tip of his sword glowing with condensed divine energy as he thrust toward Mauriss’s chest.
Mauriss moved to counter.
The Origin blade swung upward toward Lu Han’s wrist as Mauriss attempted to remove the limb entirely.
But Yu Kiro stepped in instantly.
“Covering!”
Yu Kiro shouted as he intercepted the counterattack with [Celestial Guard], his forearm crashing into Mauriss’s strike while divine energy reinforced his defense.
That half-second interruption was enough.
Du Trask arrived again from the side.
“Got him!”
Du Trask roared as he drove [Titan Ram] into Mauriss’s shoulder.
*BOOM*
Mauriss was sent skidding backward across the battlefield again.
This time the impact forcing him down onto one knee, as he spat blood onto the broken stone.
*Drip*
*Drip*
For a brief moment, silence hung between them.
Then Mauriss began laughing again.
“Heh…”
The sound was softer this time.
But far more unsettling.
“Well now,” Mauriss said as he slowly stood back up while rolling his
shoulder slightly.
“I suppose that answers that question.”
He studied the three Gods carefully.
Lu Han in front.
Yu Kiro guarding the flank.
Du Trask circling from behind.
Perfect rotation.
Perfect pressure.
Every time Mauriss attempted to create an opening, one of them
covered the gap.
Every time he tried to commit to an attack, another punished the
movement.
Two Gods.
Two he could manage.
Three…
Was simply too much.
*Huff-*
Mauriss sighed dramatically.
“Yeah… this has been a fun learning experience,” Mauriss said as he
scratched his cheek casually.
“But I think I’ll dip now.”
The three Gods immediately tensed.
“You’re not leaving this battlefield alive,” Lu Han said coldly as his
sword lifted slightly.
Mauriss tilted his head.
“See, that’s adorable,” Mauriss said as his grin widened slowly.
“You people still think this was a fight.”
Yu Kiro frowned.
“What are you talking about?”
Mauriss spread his arms slightly as the Origin Dagger spun lazily in
his hand.
“Oh come now,” Mauriss said as his eyes gleamed with madness.
“You don’t honestly believe I came here expecting to win, do you?”
For a brief moment…
The three Gods hesitated.
And that hesitation was exactly what Mauriss had been waiting for.
Because while they were processing his words-
Mauriss had already begun probing his surroundings for dimensional weakness.
“Who do you think I am? Soron?”
He mumbled, as his thoughts drifted briefly.
Back to another battlefield.
Another monster.
Another God who had once stood against the entire Righteous
Alliance alone.
“Hahaha…”
Mauriss chuckled quietly.
“Yeah… I don’t have the strength of that fiend,” Mauriss muttered
under his breath.
The three Gods heard it, but did not understand where he was leading with this, as they waited with bated breaths.
“But what I do have that Soron did not…”
Mauriss snapped his fingers. Reality cracked.
“…is my sharp mind.”
*CRRRKKK*
A massive dimensional fracture erupted behind him as a swirling
portal tore open across the battlefield.
Lu Han’s eyes widened.
“He’s escaping!”
He warned, however, unfortunately it was already too late, as Mauriss
stepped backward toward the portal while giving them a mocking
salute.
“Gentlemen,” Mauriss said with a playful bow.
“This has been very educational, but I know exactly what my limits are
now, and know just exactly how much I can endure.”
He said before vanishing, as the dimensional portal collapsed instantly
behind him, leaving the three Gods standing alone in the ruined battlefield, with nothing but Mauriss’s maniacal laughter echoing faintly in their minds.
