Timeless Assassin - Chapter 1102 Fraud

Chapter 1102 Fraud
(Skyshard Family Mansion, Luke’s 75th Birthday)
It was Luke’s 75th birthday, and hence a small celebration was held at the Skyshard Mansion for the same, as the house was lightly
decorated and every single family member was present for the occasion.
The setup was simple, with a neatly arranged table at the center holding a layered cake, while the decorations remained minimal, giving the gathering a more personal and relaxed feel.
Leo stood slightly to the side, watching quietly, as Leonardo leaned nearby with a casual posture, while Amanda and Alia stayed close to Luke, guiding him toward the table with gentle smiles.
Caleb stood composed as always, while Mairon hovered a little too close to the cake, earning a brief warning glance from Amanda that he chose to ignore.
Nearby, Dumpy already busied himself with the food counter and drinks bar, while robot Ben stood beside him, attempting to prevent the frog from finishing all the prepared drinks like a drunkard, however, his efforts yielded no results, as Dumpy finished half the liquor all by himself before the cake was even cut.
Soon, everyone gathered closer.
The chatter softened.
And as Luke stood before the cake, surrounded by his family, their voices rose together as they sang ‘Happy Birthday’ in a familiar, earth-like fashion, marking the moment with quiet warmth.
“Happy Birthday brother, you’re officially no longer a Gramps, you’re a dinosaur now….”
Leo joked, as Luke chuckled and licked his thumbs.
“Mmm…. I’m fine being a dinosaur. If all goes well, I’ll still be around
till your 150th birthday, Leo.”
Luke said, as Leo could not help but wince at that thought.
Due to different amounts of time spent within the Time Stilled World, he and Luke were now of different ages, as while he was born only two years before his brother back on Earth, the gap between them was 19 years now.
Given the average lifespan of a Transcendent Tier Warrior was between 150-250 years, it was safe to say that Luke had at least a century worth of time left in him.
And yet…. The very thought that he could enjoy only a 100 more of these birthdays made Leo feel melancholic.
Ever since he became a Demi God, Leo started to perceive mortality in a different way, as while before, he could not sense just how weak and fleeting the life aura of those around him was, he could do so
now.
While his own aura was like a blazing inferno that could burn for many more millenia to come, the aura of those around him felt like a kindling fire, slowly running out of firewood.
He could perceive their mortality now, and it almost felt like holding a blooming flower.
As although it looked beautiful and vibrant today.
He could foresee how it was going to wither and welt in the days to come, as just thinking about it filled him with boundless sadness.
‘In the end…. You’re destined to walk alone….
The words rang in his head yet again.
‘History has a tendency to repeat itself.
If you go down this path, are you confident that your kids won’t betray you, like Kaelith betrayed the Timeless Assassin?’
Destiny’s voice rang in his head, as he involuntarily cast a glance
towards Caleb and then Mairon.
His children had shown no signs of malice as of yet..
And in his own head, he felt as though he had raised them as best as he could.
However, had he done enough to avoid the same fate as the Timeless Assassin?
Leo wondered, as he felt his mind zoning out of the happiness surrounding him.
“Honey…. Honey… Honey?”
A tight tug at his sleeves jolted him out of his spiralling thoughts, as he raised an eyebrow and glanced towards Amanda who had
apparently been calling him for a while now.
“Do you want the creamy part on top? Or just the base layer?”
Amanda asked, as she knew how Leo did not like the top frosting on cakes much.
“Just the base honey, thanks….”
Leo said with a smile, as he continued to pretend to be at ease, even as his mind lingered elsewhere, while the rest of the room slowly broke into smaller conversations around him.
Soon, plates were passed and laughter picked up again, as Caleb and Mairon drifted toward Leonardo, who had taken a seat nearby with
his share of cake.
“You’re the next Supreme Commander after Sparrow, you know…” Caleb said, his tone respectful, as he stood beside Leonardo with his arms crossed loosely.
“Once you break through, things will change completely. I want to see what you’re like at the Demi God stage,” he added, as Mairon nodded beside him with far less restraint.
“Yeah, big cousin, I can’t wait for that either,” Mairon said, his eyes
lighting up as he leaned forward slightly, clearly far more eager to voice his thoughts.
Then, as though the idea had only just occurred to him, he tilted his head and spoke again with a mischievous grin forming across his face. “Big cousin, what do you think? Once you hit Demi God… can you take on the old man?”
He asked, his tone casual, almost playful, as he eyed Leo.
“You won the Commander Championship, surely you’re better than
that fraud…”
He said, as for a brief second…. Leonardo froze.
*Choke*
He coughed immediately, nearly choking on the food in his mouth as
he set his plate down, and looked at Mairon in disbelief.
“Are you insane?” he asked, his voice low but sharp, as he wiped his mouth quickly and shook his head.
“At the Demi God stage, even if there were a hundred of me against uncle…” he said, pausing briefly as though weighing the absurdity of
the comparison itself.
“…he would probably still come out having taken no hits.”
The answer came without hesitation, as Mairon could hear the
honesty behind it.
*Frown*
For a moment, his eyes widened in surprise at that response, his
expression quickly shifting into a frown as he glanced sideways toward Leo, who stood not too far away with a smug smile now plastered on his face as if to show Mairon, ‘I’m the boss of this house! “Yeah, you suck up to father too much, big cousin,” Mairon muttered, clearly unconvinced, as he crossed his arms while looking back at
Leonardo.
“You’re soft on him just because he raised you,” he continued, his tone carrying a hint of stubborn defiance as his gaze hardened slightly. “But I see the old man for the fraud he is,” Mairon said, his voice
dropping just enough to make it sound serious rather than loud. “And someday, I’ll beat him… and prove I’m the best warrior in this house.”
