Timeless Assassin - Chapter 989 Respect Lost

Chapter 989 Respect Lost
(20 hours later, The Eternal Garden, Moltherak’s POV)
Moltherak descended into the Eternal Garden alone, unafraid that it might be a trap or an ambush, as he landed upon Kaelith’s domain without a care in the world, his boots touching down lightly upon smooth stone while his immense aura remained compressed beneath Helmuth’s borrowed flesh.
He did not move at once.
Instead, he stood where he had landed and took in the Eternal Garden in silence, his sharp eyes scanning the layered terraces, the calm streams cutting quiet paths through trimmed greenery, and the tall trees placed with deliberate care rather than wild abandon.
Nothing in the Garden felt accidental.
The beauty was restrained and measured, as though every stone, every patch of grass, and every stretch of open sky had been shaped by a ruler who valued control and balance above excess, and who had spent centuries refining his domain into something that reflected quiet authority rather than loud dominance.
Moltherak pursed his lips faintly as he took in the harmony of stone, water, and sky, and a slow nod followed, unforced and genuine, as appreciation settled within him in spite of himself.
“You know…. For a man who calls himself the Eternal Sovereign, you do have a taste that matches it.
I could live in a place like this for the next 2000 years easily.”
Moltherak appreciated, as Kaelith inclined his head humbly in response.
“It’s my honor that a being as ancient as you finds my abode desirable.”
He replied, as with a quiet lift of his hand, the stone near Moltherak
shifted and rose from the earth in a smooth motion, forming into a seat of solid grey rock whose surface refined itself as it settled, polished by unseen forces until it reflected faint traces of the sky above.
A moment later, Kaelith shaped one for himself as well, ensuring it stood at the exact same height, a gesture subtle yet deliberate, conveying parity without needing to speak it aloud.
Moltherak’s golden eyes lingered on the symmetry before he lowered himself into the seat with relaxed confidence, leaning back as if he had stepped into a council chamber rather than the private sanctum of a Sovereign many still feared to challenge.
“So,” Moltherak began thoughtfully, his gaze drifting once more across the tranquil expanse before returning to Kaelith, “you invite me into your Garden, offer me equal footing, and promise an opportunity beyond measure.”
A faint smile touched his lips as curiosity sharpened behind his eyes.
“I assume this meeting concerns something greater than landscaping.” He said, as Kaelith nodded in agreement.
“First of all, thank-you for accepting my invitation, Great Dragon.
I’ve been humbled by your presence.”
He said, as Moltherak nodded in acknowledgement.
“Secondly, yes.
I have not invited you here to talk about landscaping, but rather the division of power in the universe.
My proposal is simple.
The Great Clan Gods are weak.
Nor do any of them possess an Origin Metal Weapon.
Which means, if you and I, the two of us band together, we can take
them out one after another and absorb their territories for
ourselves….
He began, as Moltherak’s golden eyes sparkled with interest at his words.
“If you agree, I can promise you that within the next century, we will control at least half the universe between the two of us.
And that within the next three centuries, the other Gods will either be subservient to us, or dead.
While the two of us rule this universe as supremes”
Kaelith proposed, as Moltherak listened to his offer intently.
“So what do you say, Great Dragon? Are you with me, or not?”
Kaelith asked, as Moltherak let out a deep sigh, the ancient Dragon’s expression disappointed as though he expected something more from
Kaelith.
“Well, son….”
Moltherak began, as he dropped calling Kaelith the Eternal Sovereign the moment he lost respect for him, as he started to call him ‘son’
instead.
“You see, I’m a being much older than you.
In fact, I was much older than your father as well.
However, in all my years as a beast king, I never quite met a warrior quite like your father, which is why I was so curious to meet you…. His son, who happens to be a God as well.
However, now that I met you.
And now that I finally had the chance to talk to you.
All that I can say is…. I’m really disappointed by what I see.
For while your father was a man’s man.
A true warrior who wanted to bend the universe to his will alone.
You don’t share even a fraction of his ambition.”
Moltherak said, as he saw how Kaelith’s calm aura quickly turned
from colourless to red in real time.
“You see, real men.
REAL MEN. They don’t choose allies to cover for their weaknesses.
Nor do their plans to dominate the universe usually need help from others to give them a smoother ride.
You see, an alliance such as this only works if we both have an equal desire to conquer the universe, and I end up conquering half, while you conquer the other.
However, there is a clear ambition gap between us here.
For you’re content with holding on to your half, while I want it all…..
Moltherak said, as he stood up from his seat and began walking away from Kaelith.
“So no…. My answer is, I will not ally with you.
For I find you unworthy of my alliance.
You’re no son of the Timeless Assassin.
In fact, the Leo boy I trained is much more like your father than you
will ever be.”
Moltherak said, as he continued to walk away from Kaelith without
turning back.
“Next time we meet, it will be a battle to the death, boy.
So either come yourself and earn my respect.
Or don’t show up at all.
But don’t send suicidal messengers to me ever again, for if you do so, I
will come to this Garden and burn it down to ashes.
That much I promise.”
Moltherak concluded before opening a fourth dimensional portal out
of the Eternal Garden, as he left Kaelith trembling with restrained
fury behind his back.
