Chapter 454 Return to the new Heaven Sword Sect
The flying ship cut through the clouds, its formation steady and unhurried. The Heaven Sword Sect’s mountain range soon appeared on the horizon- towering peaks, sword-shaped ridges, familiar yet strangely distant.
Kong Zhanghong stood at the bow, taking in the cool air.
Bai Zihan remained seated inside the cabin, eyes closed.
As the ship approached the outer airspace of the sect, formations shimmered to life.
Then-
A sharp fluctuation.
The ship slowed abruptly.
Several flying figures shot up from below, swords beneath their feet, robes marked with the Heaven Sword Sect insignia.
Guards.
One of them raised a hand, Qi amplifying his voice.
“Halt!”
“This is Heaven Sword Sect airspace!”
“All incoming flying ships are required to undergo thorough inspection before landing!”
Kong Zhanghong’s eyes narrowed.
(Inspection?)
In the past, Bai Zihan’s ship could descend freely.
He stepped forward, voice sharp.
“Inspection?” Kong Zhanghong said coldly. “Do you know whose ship this is?”
One of the guards glanced at the ship’s markings, then scoffed.
“Heh. Of course we know.”
Another guard laughed quietly.
“Isn’t this the crippled young master’s ship?”
“We’re just following orders,” he added lazily. “Rules are rules now.”
The words had barely fallen-
Bang!
A blur crossed the air.
The guard who had spoken was sent flying, blood spraying as his body smashed into a distant cliff face.
His sword shattered mid-air.
Silence exploded outward.
The remaining guards froze, faces draining of color.
Kong Zhanghong stood where he was, fist still clenched, killing intent leaking freely.
“Say that again,” he said calmly.
The pressure of a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator descended like a mountain.
Golden Core Realm guards couldn’t even breathe properly under it.
“You dare attack sect guards?!” one of them shouted, fear barely hidden beneath forced outrage.
“Kong Zhanghong, do you know what you are doing?!”
Kong Zhanghong laughed.
A short, humorless sound.
“Hmph! So what?”
He said coldly.
Seeing Kong Zhanghong being so fearless, they knew their threat was useless.
Others clenched their swords but did not dare draw them.
After all, they were in the Golden Core Realm while Kong Zhanghong was in the Nascent Soul Realm.
Inside the cabin, Bai Zihan finally opened his eyes.
His expression was indifferent.
He did not stop Kong Zhanghong.
After all-
Why should he?
This was the Heaven Sword Sect.
And there was no one here he needed to fear.
He could also see that these guards were intentionally making trouble for him.
Perhaps Elder Han ordered it-or perhaps it was someone else.
Bai Zihan rose from his seat and stepped out of the cabin.
The moment he appeared, the air seemed to still.
No matter what his cultivation-or lack thereof-might be, his presence always made people nervous.
He looked down at the guards hovering before the ship, his gaze sweeping over
them without interest.
“Land,” Bai Zihan said flatly.
Two words.
No anger.
No threat.
Just command.
“If you have a problem,” he continued, tone unchanged, “you can tell it to me
directly!”
The guards stiffened.
Not one of them dared meet his eyes.
Moments ago, they had barked orders with confidence. Now, their mouths
were sealed as if glued shut.
Slowly, the formation below parted.
The flying ship descended.
No one spoke.
No one stopped them.
And yet everyone was watching.
The moment the ship touched down at the Heaven Sword Sect’s outer
platform, people gathered.
People who were curious, and people who were clearly looking for trouble.
Bai Zihan had arrived.
***
The guards had already sent word of Bai Zihan’s arrival long before they went
to look for trouble.
They did not wait long.
Footsteps echoed across the stone platform.
Arrogant.
A group of figures emerged from between the sword pillars.
At the center was a man in dark blue robes embroidered with sharp-edged cloud patterns. His posture was relaxed, chin slightly raised, eyes carrying open
disdain.
Han Shenwu!
Behind him followed several disciples-his lackeys-each wearing expressions
of smug anticipation.
Kong Zhanghong’s eyes darkened.
Bai Zihan, however, remained calm.
Han Shenwu stopped a few steps away and let his gaze roam freely over Bai
Zihan, lingering deliberately-cruelly-on his dantian.
Then he smiled.
“So you really came,” Han Shenwu said lazily. “I thought you’d hide behind the
Bai Clan forever.”
His eyes gleamed with malice.
“Look at you now. A Cripple!”
A few of the disciples behind him chuckled.
Han Shenwu folded his arms.
“You know,” he continued, tone mocking, “I once gave you a chance.”
“An opportunity. To stand on the right side. To join us.”
He shook his head exaggeratedly.
“But you refused. Now look at where you are.”
He leaned slightly forward.
“Lost all your cultivation.”
Han Shenwu smiled wider.
“What are you even doing here?”
Silence followed.
Then-
Bai Zihan laughed.
Just a soft, amused sound.
“Opportunity?” Bai Zihan repeated.
He raised his head and finally met Han Shenwu’s gaze.
His eyes were calm.
Cold and fearless.
“By the likes of you?”
The smile on Han Shenwu’s face froze.
“Are you even serious?” Bai Zihan mocked.
Han Shenwu stared at Bai Zihan for a moment longer than necessary.
The calm.
The arrogance.
The complete lack of fear.
It didn’t fit.
For just a heartbeat, confusion flickered through his eyes.
Then he laughed.
“Hah! Still putting on airs?” Han Shenwu shook his head. “So this is it? Losing
your cultivation finally broke your mind?” He sneered openly now.
“A cripple who can’t even circulate Qi anymore, acting like he’s still the young
master.”
His gaze hardened.
“Tell me something, Bai Zihan,” Han Shenwu asked, voice turning serious. “Why
are you even here?”
The laughter from his lackeys died down.
They, too, were watching closely.
Bai Zihan didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he looked around.
At the familiar sword pillars. At the stone platform engraved with sect laws.
At the sky above the Heaven Sword Sect.
Then he looked back at Han Shenwu. “This is my sect,” Bai Zihan said calmly.
“For what reason do I need to explain my return?”
Han Shenwu froze for a split second.
Then his expression twisted into disbelief.
“My sect?”
He repeated, as if he’d heard a joke too absurd to process.
Han Shenwu’s smile turned cold.
“Wake up,” he said sharply. “This isn’t the past anymore.”
“My father is the Sect Leader now.”
He took a step forward, authority dripping from his tone.
“You’ve already been expelled. There is no reason for you to be here.”
“This sect no longer welcomes you”
The air tensed.
Several guards subtly shifted positions, waiting for Bai Zihan’s reaction.
Bai Zihan listened quietly. Then-
He waved his hand lightly.
As if brushing away dust.
“Your words,” Bai Zihan said indifferently, “carry no authority”
Bai Zihan continued, unhurried.
“You’re not the Sect Leader. You’re not even an Elder. A weakling like you wants
to give orders to me?”
His eyes narrowed slightly.
“If you truly want to expel me,” Bai Zihan said flatly, “then have your father say
those words.”
“Let him say it to my face.”
The courtyard fell into a dead silence.
Han Shenwu’s expression darkened instantly.
“You-!”
Han Shenwu clenched his fists, rage boiling beneath his skin.
“Fine,” Han Shenwu said coldly after a moment.
“If that’s how you want it.”
He turned slightly and sneered.
“Follow me! I’ll have my father personally expel you!”
