Undead Mage with No Skill Cooldown - Chapter 353: Major World Update Completed

Chapter 353: Chapter 353: Major World Update Completed
“I thought about it ahead of time, I really did,” Cen Yunuo said while nodding emphatically like a chicken pecking at rice.
“Yeah, right!” Lu Ran retorted, not buying it.
But come to think of it,
it does feel strange.
Cen Yunuo is, well, a strange person to begin with.
Although I can’t pinpoint exactly what’s strange about Cen Yunuo.
But after spending some time together,
there’s always this odd feeling lingering in Lu Ran’s mind.
Must be a sixth sense.
Besides,
after being tested by Cen Yunuo like this,
Lu Ran finally felt a bit relieved.
Because a huge weight in his heart was finally lifted.
His abilities, which depended on global data, felt like they were stripped away when it temporarily lost its function.
He didn’t feel safe at all.
But after the test,
Lu Ran figured it out.
It wasn’t that global data was gone; it was just temporarily hidden due to the world update.
It still exists, and it’s still effective.
Lu Ran’s Skeleton Tyrant is still in the Universe in the Sleeve.
In other words,
Lu Ran’s word-based abilities are unaffected too.
Unfortunately, Lu Ran can’t use any skills right now.
Even though he can’t die, he’s not much different from a regular person.
Having an undying body is good enough.
“By the way, what are you doing here? Late at night, sneaking around waiting for me. Let me tell you, I’m not an easy person, but since we’re so familiar, if you want to do something, everything’s negotiable,” Lu Ran casually asked.
“Negotiate with your nonsense! Did you forget our previous arrangement? After the nation war, I’m taking you to a fun place,” Cen Yunuo said.
“Oh right, where is it? Are we going now?” Lu Ran asked.
“How could we go now? The outside is still updating, stepping out means death; let’s wait until the update is finished. It’s not urgent,” Cen Yunuo replied ambiguously.
It didn’t seem like he felt any urgency.
Instead, he stared at Lu Ran intensely, as if there was something interesting about him.
“We’ll talk about it later then,” Lu Ran casually said.
Even though Lu Ran was also curious about
what kind of place Cen Yunuo was referring to,
he was too lazy to ask.
Knowing Cen Yunuo’s personality, asking would be pointless.
If she wanted to say it, she would have already. If she doesn’t, asking won’t help.
“So what do we do now?” Lu Ran asked.
“We’re not doing anything. The outside is updating, you should sleep early,” Cen Yunuo said, putting away the gun he was holding and turned to leave.
Huh?
Lu Ran widened his eyes.
Before he could react, Cen Yunuo had already dashed out of the room.
Damn.
Did he really plan to kill me for a test this trip?
Lu Ran was speechless.
He wanted to chase after her and say something,
but when he came out the door and looked around,
down the long corridor, he couldn’t see a trace of Cen Yunuo anywhere!
In just a breath, Cen Yunuo vanished!
Lu Ran swallowed hard.
He had to understand that
now, during the global data outage, no skills could be used!
Cen Yunuo couldn’t possibly have any acceleration skills.
But why was she gone in a blink?
Lu Ran felt a shiver down his spine and murmured, “As I suspected, my instincts were right, Cen Yunuo, that guy…”
Before he could finish his sentence,
a voice of complaint came from below.
“Ahhh! Lu Ran! Can you please get someone to fix the railing outside your door!” Cen Yunuo’s voice called.
Lu Ran was taken aback.
Only then did he realize Cen Yunuo was on the ground floor.
He was on the second floor.
Cen Yunuo had just left and fell through a gap in the railing right outside, didn’t she!
“Uh…sure, I’ll get someone later,” Lu Ran awkwardly replied.
Only then did Cen Yunuo turn around and run off in a huff.
Lu Ran went back to his room.
He looked outside at the night.
Couldn’t see anything.
No moon, no stars, nothing. From this angle, occasionally, there’s a green glow of data streams rising outside the city.
“The update should be done by tomorrow morning; who knows what it’ll bring,” Lu Ran mumbled to himself.
Then he lay down on the bed.
But he couldn’t sleep.
After all this time,
the nation war was finally over.
Lu Ran also successfully graduated from the newbie phase.
But this world didn’t end; with the new world update, who knows what it will bring.
Honestly, Lu Ran felt pretty excited about it.
New things to explore are always a good thing.
Lu Ran had already cleared the Endless Tower up to the ninety-ninth floor; more updates are to come.
Higher-level zones, more dungeons, team dungeons, they’re all coming up next.
Besides,
there are many new things that neither Lu Ran nor other Professionals can predict.
And of course,
Lu Ran had something on his mind he’d never let go of.
Once the update ended, he needed to deal with Japan’s trouble.
To settle those long-buried grudges once and for all!
Thinking this, Lu Ran eventually dozed off.
The next day.
No one came to wake up Lu Ran.
He woke up naturally and upon checking the time, it was already past nine.
The world update should have completed around six in the morning.
Lu Ran stepped out of his room and glanced toward the outskirts.
He couldn’t see clearly, but he could feel the update had indeed stopped, and the landscape outside had ceased its changes.
At this time,
Liu Xinxin and others appeared downstairs.
“Wake up and come down for breakfast,” Liu Xinxin called out.
“Got it,” Lu Ran responded.
He was still curious about what the updates brought.
After a quick freshen up and getting dressed,
Lu Ran went downstairs.
Not to mention whatever new things the update brought,
the most noticeable thing to Lu Ran was within the Celestial Path Alliance, where some Professionals walking by,
have things following them, similar to pets.
These creatures follow the Professionals obediently.
Varying in size and species.
And,
many of them Lu Ran recognized as monsters.
Some could even be used as mounts.
“So what’s this? Did they update a mount system or a pet system?” Lu Ran curiously asked.
“It’s a pet system; no definite mount system, but many pets can be used as mounts,” Liu Xinxin explained.
“Can you capture multiple pets?” Lu Ran asked.
“Just one; everyone has a new pet panel, currently one per person. Of course, there might be special cases, but there isn’t any data or news on that yet,” Liu Xinxin explained.
Lu Ran nodded.
He looked around and said, “Since there’s only one pet slot, it’s important. Why do some people’s pets look so trashy, capturing low-level monsters as pets? Isn’t that a waste of a pet slot?”
Liu Xinxin replied,
“Pets aren’t captured; you don’t choose what pet you get, it’s all luck,” Liu Xinxin shrugged and explained.
