Unholy Player - Chapter 522 Testing the New Powers (Part 2)

Chapter 522 Testing the New Powers (Part 2)
When he activated the effect of the Tower of Worth, the atmosphere of the room changed at once. It felt like a switch had been flipped in the air itself.
The temperature dropped sharply. The lights dimmed and flickered, casting brief, uneven shadows along the walls.
In the center of the room, an illusory image appeared. Space looked like it was tearing open to both sides, forming a gate to another dimension. Its edges wavered like strained fabric.
Through the tear, he looked into the familiar landscape. He saw the silhouette of the Tower of Worth standing imposingly, like a tool belonging to another universe. It felt distant, yet clearly anchored there.
Black smoke surged out of the door and began condensing onto Adyr’s body. It covered him entirely and formed a thin, black, fabric-like outfit that reached up to his chin, leaving only the upper part of his head exposed.
Though he was still in a weak condition, he could feel his power rise significantly, along with a noticeable increase in his life force regeneration.
The best part was that, unlike when he used his Malice Armor, this ability did not consume any stamina. That made it feel almost too efficient for what it offered.
However, there was an obvious weak point to the ability.
He looked at the tear in front of him. Through it, he could clearly see the dark side of his God Domain. That black interior sat open like an exposed passage.
It was a problem if he needed to open a door to his Domain every time he wanted to use this effect.
He frowned at the thought and dismissed the effect. The black clothing slipped off his body and pulled back into the tear. A moment later, it sealed shut, and the room returned to its original state, the air warming slightly as the lights steadied.
Apparently, if he wanted to use it, he had to open a door to his inner space each time. That allowed his Domain to descend into this world, which was quite dangerous. An enemy might find an opportunity to use this door to sneak into his Domain, turning his own power into an entry point.
He also tried his God Domain’s new ability, Absolute Equilibrium.
He found that it required the same process to activate. It carried the same opening and the same risk.
Its effect was to reduce the power of any enemy entering his Domain by 50 percent. To use it in combat, he again needed to open the doors to his God Domain and let it descend onto the battlefield. That was the only way to spread that divine effect outward.
It also did not consume stamina or energy, so he kept practicing it. He soon realized that every time he opened the doors, a small surrounding area became part of his Domain. The boundary was being temporarily overlaid onto the world.
More precisely, he could at most turn the entire room into his Domain. If any enemy entered his resting room, their power would be halved instantly, as long as he kept the door to his God Domain open. The space itself would become a trap.
After his skill combo, which required him to blow up his body to use, he now felt he had gained another great power, one that carried an equally great risk. “My life is getting more and more interesting,” he murmured with a satisfied smile.
Then his eyes slowly closed. He finally decided to take the rest he deserved.
“So you’re saying Rhys awakened with 2 bloodline talents?” Henry Bates asked, shock tightening his brows as he looked at the woman on his screen.
He was not shocked because Rhys had awakened as a Practitioner. He was shocked because he had awakened with bloodline talents, and not just one.
Dr. Mara’s excited voice came through the speaker. “Yes. With Mr. Adyr’s Grace and Malice bloodline talents. He is currently in the training room registering new talents and trying to adapt to his new powers.”
Hearing the names, Henry looked puzzled and asked what they were. When he learned that one talent was healing light and the other was black smoke-the same black smoke that Adyr had once used, which led to thousands of deaths through a single broadcast-his thoughts sank inward, and his expression grew distant as old memories surfaced.
“Right after helping Dalin awaken a bloodline talent, he went ahead and made Rhys a Practitioner with 2…” He murmured absentmindedly.
As he tried to digest the two shocking reports he had received in this short time, the screen in front of him flickered. The image stuttered for a split
second.
He looked up and saw an urgent incoming call.
“Sorry, Dr. Mara. It’s a call I need to answer,” he said. Then he accepted it.
A new image appeared on his screen. It showed a soldier wearing an STF uniform. The man stood rigid, urgency clear in his posture.
“Sir, the rulers of the Gorathim, Aqualeth, Obsidren, and Houndkin have arrived. They are currently on their way to the headquarters. We are awaiting further
instructions.”
Maintaining his professional calm, Henry replied, “Send them to the meeting room. I will receive them there.”
When the screen went dark, he let out a heavy sigh. He rubbed his head with his hand, the pressure of it showing only in that small gesture. “After Silverlight Zephan and Liora the Earthshaker, more and more keep coming.”
Some time ago, at Adyr’s request, they had formally invited all race rulers to their newly constructed city.
If it were just an ordinary invitation, it would still be something Henry could accept with less worry. He could tell himself it was just political meetings. But the fact that the invitation was meant to introduce them to the VR rooms and have them start using them was deeply unsettling. It felt like opening a door that could not be closed again.
“Dalin awakening a bloodline talent… Rhys awakening as a Practitioner… All the rulers of other races training in our VR rooms to get stronger…”
Henry murmured as he watched each development connect to the next. They became pieces of a much larger picture, forming faster than he liked.
“It feels like he’s preparing us for a big war.”
