When the introductions ended, Isha simply said, “And this is Vikram.”
The others nodded. They already knew him, after all, Isha doted on him so much. Not only them, but every member of Cameron Town knew him.
And that wasn’t the only reason they knew him.
After exchanging polite greetings with everyone, except Sana. Vikram asked Isha in a low tone, “Aunt… why is she against me?”
But before she could answer, Sana stepped slightly closer and spoke in a low voice, pretending she was only addressing Isha. However, her voice was loud enough for everyone to hear.
“Leader… Why did you bring him here? This isn’t a place for a child to play. He’ll get hurt, and because of him, your focus will shift away from handling the zombie wave.”
Her tone sounded concerned.
But it wasn’t. Deep inside, there was only resentment, and it became clearer as she continued.
“Although we know you love him and dote on him so much, bringing him here is nothing but trouble. Because of him, we might lose this zombie wave.”
Hearing this, the others didn’t say anything. But they agreed.
At the same time, they also knew the reason behind her resentment.
Even Isha knew it.
The reason was that Sana had a sister of the same age as Vikram.
Her name was Bushra, and God knows what honeyed and sweet words he used to trap her in love.
Before Sana could warn Bushra, while she was out fighting a zombie wave, Vikram entered her home.
Using promises of love and trust, showing her dreams of a better future, he took her sister’s virginity.
When Sana returned the next day, she found that Vikram had spent the entire night with Bushra, and the whole town already knew about it.
What made her even more furious was that Bushra didn’t show even the slightest regret. She still believed his foolish words, convinced that he truly loved her.
And when Sana tried to beat him, her own flesh and blood sister stood in her way, protecting him like a hen protects her chicks.
Sana was furious because she had already planned a bright future for Bushra.
Unlike the useless Vikram, Bushra was an awakener. She had awakened abilities even stronger than Sana’s, capable not only of healing wounds but also boosting stamina.
Sana had always planned to arrange a proper future for her, perhaps even pairing her with a powerful awakener to secure her place in this harsh world.
But Vikram had ruined all of that.
If not for Isha and Bushra’s protection, Sana would have already killed him and thrown his body into the zombie horde.
But even knowing all this, she could do nothing, forced to watch with her own eyes as her sister behaved lovingly with Vikram.
And when night came, hearing Bushra moaning and calling his name with affection, while he was fucking her, only made her anger toward him grow even stronger.
She even used her stamina boost abilities to extend his stamina, in fucking her.
This was the first time she has seen someone using the most useful ability in the most useless work. And that someone was her own sister.
Still, she would not have been this angry if Vikram had loved only Bushra. Even if he was an idiot and useless, he was the nephew of her leader, the strongest person in Cameron Town, Isha Rajput.
But that idiot was lecherous. Not only her sister, but he had used the same honeyed and sweet words to deceive other girls in Cameron Town, until they gave their virginity to him.
Hearing Sana’s resentment-filled words, Isha simply gave a sweet smile.
Even knowing that Vikram had been with many girls, she didn’t care.
In Isha’s eyes, Vikram had done nothing wrong. He was flawed, lustful, cowardly, but he hadn’t forced anything. And even if he had…
She would still have stood on his side. Hearing Sana’s question, Isha smiled again.
Then, without lowering her voice, she spoke clearly for everyone to hear.
“Everyone… my dearest nephew, my Vikram, has awakened. Now he is also an awakener.”
The words landed like a shockwave.
“And from now on, he will be part of our team.”
Silence fell. For a moment, no one reacted. Then their expressions changed.
Some were surprised. Some were in disbelief. Some were curious.
Especially Sana. Her eyes widened slightly as she looked at Vikram again, as if trying to confirm what she had just heard.
“…Captain, is that true?” she asked, her voice no longer calm. “That scoundrel… has awakened?”
Isha nodded once.
“Yes.”
That single word confirmed everything.
Sana went silent for a brief moment, her expression frozen.
Then, she laughed loudly.
“Good… good.”
She stepped forward again and looked at Vikram carefully.
This time, her gaze was different.
She reached out, touching his cheek, his hair, his hand, even lightly tapping his chest.
Now, she found him handsome and dashing.
It wasn’t that he hadn’t been before.
But in this apocalypse, appearance meant nothing without awakening. Until a person awakened, they had no value.
She again patted his head casually, then pressed his arm lightly, feeling the firmness of his muscles. A satisfied expression appeared on her face.
Then, in a serious tone, she said,
“Captain, since he has already taken Bushra, we can’t change that. Let him marry Bushra. Although it pains me, Bushra loves him… and he also loves Bushra. Just do it.”
Although she said she felt pained, from her expression, everyone understood that she was actually very happy.
For a moment, everyone froze upon hearing her words. The sudden shift in her attitude caught them off guard, but only for a moment.
“What Bushra?” Pooja immediately spoke in a sharp tone. “She’s not even more beautiful than my sister Jahnvi.”
She quickly turned toward Isha. “Captain, you should fix Vikram’s marriage with my Jahnvi.”
That was all it took.
One by one, others began to speak. “Captain, my cousin—” “My daughter—” “My younger sister is also—”
Voices overlapped as each of them began suggesting someone from their own family.
Then Kavya spoke, and her words cut through everything. “Captain, I don’t have any sister,” she said calmly. “And I am the same age as Vikram, so why not let him marry me?”
Silence fell.
Even Isha was slightly surprised.
But then, a faint smile appeared on her face.
Because she understood.
Just moments ago, Vikram had been nothing in their eyes, a coward, a burden, a scoundrel.
But now, after awakening, his value has changed.
In this world, only awakeners held value. Only strength earned respect.
And Vikram had just stepped into that category.
Now, he was no longer looked down upon, even if he was her nephew. Instead, people were competing for him.
Then Ayesha, who had been silent all this time, finally spoke. “Captain… What are Vikram’s abilities?”
Her voice was calm, but her eyes were sharp.
Everyone fell quiet again, their attention returning to Isha.
Isha opened her mouth slightly.
“His abilities… even I don’t fully know yet, but they are like—”
She stopped.
Because at that moment, movement appeared below.
In the next second, Vikram’s Sprout Team emerged onto the wall.
One by one, they stepped up, their presence instantly drawing attention.
Isha raised her hand and pointed toward them.
“Them,” she said.
In an instant, everyone’s focus shifted.
Since Isha had brought Vikram directly to the wall in a single leap, his Plant Sprout Team had been left behind. They came running, climbing up one after another until they reached the top and stopped behind him in formation.
Their sudden arrival drew immediate attention.
“What are they?” Ayesha asked curiously, her eyes scanning them from head to toe. To her, they looked almost like crafted figures, too structured, too still, something between living beings and finely made dolls.
Vikram, who had been silent until now, finally spoke. He had been observing everything, the people, their reactions, the sudden shift in attitude. It was different from what he was used to. Until now, he had either been alone or with Sophia.
“They are my warriors,” he said calmly. “You’ll understand when the zombies attack.”
“Oh,” Ayesha nodded, accepting the answer without pressing further. She lightly patted his shoulder. “Congratulations on awakening, and welcome to the team.”
Vikram gave a small nod, then turned toward Isha.
“So, Aunt… when will the zombie waves begin?”
Isha glanced at the watch on her wrist.
“It’s four in the evening right now,” she said. “The first wave will begin at seven. After that, a new wave will arrive every half an hour, continuing until midnight.”
Vikram processed the information quickly.
“So we have roughly half an hour to deal with each wave,” he said. “And if a wave isn’t cleared before the next one arrives?”
Isha looked at him, her expression calm but serious.
“Don’t worry. We’ve been doing this for years,” she replied. “Clearing each wave isn’t difficult for us.”
She paused briefly, then added,
“But if one wave isn’t finished before the next begins, the next wave will merge with the previous one, and the numbers will grow.”
Her tone remained steady, but the meaning was clear.
What was already dangerous would become overwhelming.
“If that happens,” she continued, “the pressure on the walls increases. Weak points start to break… and once a breach forms—”
