Chapter 145: Chapter 129: Old Cui vs. Brother Gang! Did the High-End Player Become a Bug-Type Player?
“Interstellar Mother Ship?”
“Captured…?”
Yu Jin was momentarily stumped by this piece of news.
Due to the vast distance and server restrictions, he couldn’t contact Carol directly, so he had no way of knowing her current condition.
But…
Judging from the info he had, maybe Carol’s situation wasn’t looking too good?
After all, there was now a “Celsa Star Civilization’s X-9 Medium-sized Interstellar Carrier” showing up nearby…
“A 30% chance is still way too risky…”
“Gotta give my dear Commander more fleet airdrops!”
Yu Jin suddenly felt a bizarre sense of urgency.
In his mind’s eye, he seemed to see…
Carol fighting it out with the Celsa Star fleet amid the stars.
“Are there any more rewards?”
“Hey, Wasteland game official?”
Yu Jin recalled the last time he’d earned Civilization Source Points, and waited a bit in silence.
Unfortunately, the cold, mechanical notification sound never came.
[Civilization Source Points: 1100]
[Tip: When you collect 10,000 Civilization Source Points, you’ll unlock Civilization Privileges early]
“Looks like I’ll need to save up 10,000 points before I can squeeze any more wool out of Wasteland.”
Yu Jin sighed inwardly and looked at his system panel.
[Decoding coordinates of other players airdropped in progress…]
Clearly, this batch of new “Alien Invaders”, airdropped here from the Star System Wasteland, were shielded by the Star System Server rules, so Brother Tongzi’s decryption was a lot slower this time.
“Once we get the coordinates, I’ll go kill them off right away.”
“Gotta stomp out whatever chaos these high-end players might stir up.”
After finishing his loot count, Yu Jin put aside his thoughts for now.
He turned to Old Cui, who was fiddling with Murphy’s Laser Longsword.
“Here.”
“Your loot.”
Noticing Yu Jin’s gaze, Old Cui instantly handed over the “Laser Longsword”.
But Yu Jin wasn’t about to take it.
“Dafuq?”
Old Cui understood his intent, his face full of disbelief.
“Wait, hold on…”
“Old Yu!”
“This laser sword is badass as hell!”
“Even as a Tier Five, I can break a Tier Nine’s defenses with this!”
“It’s way better if you keep it. You’re so strong anyway, and probably gonna have more enemies too. Having this artifact is extra insurance!”
Old Cui wouldn’t stop talking.
Yu Jin merely stayed silent, just raised his hand.
Shoo—!
A massive laser beam thousands of meters long roared out, basically punching a giant hole in the sky.
“You really think I need that?”
Old Cui went quiet.
After a long moment.
He let out a heavy sigh, finally dropping his stubbornness.
“Thanks, my bro!”
Yu Jin nodded.
What he liked most about Old Cui was exactly this— even knowing Yu Jin was a Tier Nine Evolver, he’d never get all formal like the others, just called him “bro” like always.
He’d heard “Yu City Lord” way too many times, and honestly, he was pretty sick of it.
After so long, hearing “Old Yu” and “bro” again actually made him feel a genuine warmth inside.
“Brother Gang’s at my Refuge City, wanna drop by and see him?”
Yu Jin suddenly said.
“Huh?”
“Brother Gang?”
“Hang on a sec…”
“You said YOUR Refuge City?”
“Oh right, you’re Tier Nine now, running a Refuge City is a walk in the park for you…”
…
…
Dawn City, City Lord’s Mansion.
Buzz—
Spatial ripples spread out.
In the empty council hall, Yu Jin and Old Cui’s figures materialized.
Even though Old Cui couldn’t stay long in Refuge City due to “Wandering” Attribute restrictions, it was still fine for him to pop in and say hi to Brother Gang.
“Dafuq?”
“Old Yu, your Refuge City…”
“Why does it look so different from the ones I’ve seen before?”
Old Cui hadn’t taken two steps before he stopped, eyes wide, totally shocked.
Standing at the City Lord’s Mansion gate, staring at the heavy clouds just meters away— almost level with his head— he was plain baffled.
“It is a bit different.”
“You should go walk around, take a good look.”
“I already messaged Brother Gang. He’ll be here soon.”
Yu Jin said with a smile.
Meanwhile—
He took advantage of Old Cui sightseeing, and slipped off to the core area of the City Lord’s Mansion.
Since he was back, Yu Jin decided to go ahead and “One-Click Max Level” his newly acquired “Wind” and “Earth Surge” Tier One to Tier Five Abilities.
After that—
Yu Jin went to the Resource Mall and bought a few Energy Crystals, plus some easy-to-carry camping gear.
Old Cui didn’t come to Dawn City often. As City Lord, he definitely had to prepare some gifts.
After all—
Unlike Brother Gang and Yu Fei, Old Cui’s Wandering Attribute meant he was always facing way more danger than anyone else.
Yu Jin didn’t care much about those Points, what mattered more were that his brother would be safe and sound in the Wasteland, with no accidents.
Shoo—
Yu Jin blinked back to the council hall.
“Old Cui!”
In just that moment, Brother Gang arrived too.
The two of them didn’t even say a word before they just went in for a huge bear hug!
“You brat! You almost worried me to death!”
Brother Gang usually acted all brash and loud, but when it came to his brothers, he cared a lot.
“Hahaha!”
Old Cui was all smiles— biggest grin he’d had since landing in the Wasteland.
After a little catching up—
Brother Gang couldn’t resist flexing.
BZZT—!
He raised his hand and fired off a bolt of electric current.
“Your Brother Gang is already a Tier Five Evolver!”
“Hahaha, how about that? Aren’t I way stronger than you?”
Old Cui was surprised for a sec, but then he whipped out a “Rune Imprisonment” right back at him.
Soon enough—
The two were throwing down on the spot, battling it out in the council hall.
Next thing you know, Yin Yao and the others rushed in and couldn’t help grinning at the scene before them.
Wang Yunpeng even led the Environmental Protection Club members to start cheering from the sidelines.
“Go Brother Gang, you got this!”
“Whoah, how’d Brother Gang get knocked flat?”
“Brother Gang, don’t give up!”
“…”
The match ended with Brother Gang’s crushing defeat.
“Damn!”
“Your Wandering Attribute is such bullshit!”
“I popped crystals day and night to grind to Tier Five, but you just waltzed around the Wasteland and became Tier Five anyway!”
Brother Gang, with a bruised face, muttered as he climbed up from the ground.
“Come on!”
“I’m taking you to see some real sights!”
“Let me show you what a real… Sky City looks like!”
Defeated and pissed, Brother Gang tried to save face by switching it up and going for a tour instead.
In the council hall—
Everyone just burst out laughing.
…
…
Alpha City.
Buzz—
Space fluctuated again.
Yu Jin brought Old Cui and Brother Gang over by teleporting.
“Yu Fei’s here?”
Old Cui was looking pretty hyped.
He hadn’t expected— in just one day, not only did he reunite with Old Yu, he got to see both Brother Gang and Yu Fei all at once!
Brother Gang was just as stoked as Old Cui.
He’d heard Yu Jin say Yu Fei was in Alpha City.
But Yu Jin was always busy, and Brother Gang didn’t want to trouble the City Lord to show him around on purpose…
“Yu Fei’s in the City Lord’s Mansion core area, probably still digesting Knowledge.”
Yu Jin used “Light Touch” to take a look, found Yu Fei still meditating, eyes shut, totally zen.
“No worries, just a glimpse is good enough!”
Old Cui grinned, really chill about it.
After that—
Yu Jin took them both straight to the core area.
Yu Fei didn’t seem to notice the trio’s arrival at all.
His brow was deeply furrowed, all sorts of visualized script and symbols swirling around him constantly.
“Yu Fei’s ’Knowledge’ Attribute… just looking at it feels next level…”
Old Cui had sharp eyes, and after just a glance, he was amazed.
“It really isn’t simple.”
“Back in the closed beta, I thought the same thing.”
Brother Gang agreed.
Then—
The three stood quietly to the side, watching Yu Fei for a while.
In a way—
This was 615 Dorm’s first reunion on the Wasteland.
A bit of a pity—
Even after the three of them left, Yu Fei still didn’t snap out of his “Knowledge Digestion” state.
Yu Jin used “Eye of Insight” on him at some point, and the intel he got left him stunned.
[Wu Yufei]
[Mother Star: Blue Star]
[Tier: Tier Six (rapidly ascending)]
[Attribute: Knowledge]
[Abilities: Memory Inheritance Lv2, Knowledge Imprint Lv2, Knowledge Verification Lv3, Structural Torrent Lv1, Historical Echo Lv1, …]
[Evaluation: …Currently absorbing massive knowledge and memories from ’Ula Yurika’… Digesting the vast history of the Alpha City Core… This may include thousands of years, or even millions or billions of years of A3 Wasteland Planet’s past…]
Never mind the fact that he’d gone from Tier Four to Tier Six in just a few days.
The last two lines alone were just bonkers to Yu Jin.
Thousands and tens of thousands of years of history, billions of years in the past…
That information volume must be absolutely terrifying.
Even at Tier Eleven now, Yu Jin wasn’t sure he could take it.
“The power of Knowledge really is limitless…”
Yu Jin couldn’t help but sigh.
After that—
Yu Jin took Brother Gang back to Dawn City.
Old Cui didn’t come— he stayed behind in Alpha City.
For him, wandering here or there, didn’t matter— it’s all wandering.
He found a more detailed A316 Area map at Yu Fei’s old bookstore, which would help him unlock new Refuge City check-in points.
Besides that—
He had a new goal—
Find clues to a High-Level Refuge City!
Even though his Attribute was “Wandering”, that didn’t stop Old Cui from joining a Refuge City. With no hesitation, he joined Dawn City and became one of its members.
“For Dawn City, wander, wander like hell!”
From that day on—
Old Cui had a new catchphrase.
…
…
Dawn City.
City Lord’s Mansion.
Yu Jin was sitting in the City Lord’s seat, listening to Yin Yao and the rest reporting on recent battle updates.
Then all of a sudden—
A crisp, cold mechanical voice echoed in his mind.
This voice…
It was actually from the A3 Planet rules!
[Hello, Blue Star player ’Yu Jin’!]
[A malicious bug-type player has appeared on this server…]
[They’re from Level II Civilization Celsa, deployed here by the Star System Server…]
[After receiving the “Assist in Investigating Bug Players” quest, instead of completing it, they maliciously seized native players’ High-Level Refuge Cities and are plotting to use them to achieve “Promotion”— in hopes of earning an Interstellar Refuge Fortress in the future…]
[Such actions are extremely vile and have greatly disrupted game balance!]
[As the top Tier-ranked player on this server…]
[You’ve received a special quest: Suppress the Level II Civilization Celsa players!]
[Quest Duration: 167 days (until next Promotion)]
[Quest Reward: 50 Billion Wasteland Points]
[…]
Good lord!
Yu Jin couldn’t help but exclaim—
Is the A3 Planet ruleset just arguing with itself? LMAO!
