- Chapter 261: Yet Unfortunately, It Was Already Too Late

Karma Blood Peak of Ten Thousand Dao Sect.
Several months ago, Xue Kui had sent Madam Wang and her daughter away.
A month ago, Xue Kui used a mission as an excuse to send Yu Yunwei away as well.
The mountaintop that was once bustling with activity now had only Xue Kui sitting alone in the courtyard, drinking wine and watching the young prince.
Though Xue Kui had lived this way before, now that the mountaintop was once again left with only herself, she could not help but feel somewhat lonely.
“Xue Kui, here is what you wanted,” At noon, Qing Yuan came to the peak of Karma Blood Peak and handed her a doll-like object.
“Thank you for your trouble,” Xue Kui smiled slightly and took the doll, examining it carefully. “Not bad, it’s quite exquisitely made.”
“You can rest assured about anything that comes from my hands,” Qing Yuan sat on the stone bench, poured herself a cup of tea, and said, “However, Xue Kui, you must think this through carefully. Are you really going to do this? Setting aside whether you can find your master, if the sect master discovers this, it will be difficult to handle.”
Xue Kui smiled, “I have been searching for my master for three thousand years. This is the most hopeful opportunity yet. Do you think I would give up?”
“Alright,” Qing Yuan sighed.
In truth, she still did not quite approve of Xue Kui’s actions.
It was far too risky but she also knew that once her close friend made a decision, nothing she said would matter.
“Don’t worry, this matter has nothing to do with you. I won’t drag you down,” Xue Kui said with a smile. “If I am discovered, I will say this doll was stolen from your courtyard, and I will take full responsibility.”
“Why are we talking about dragging each other down between the two of us?” Qing Yuan rolled her eyes at Xue Kui. “You saved my life back then, so I can repay that debt with my life if needed.”
“It’s not quite that dramatic. The worst outcome would be the two of us fighting our way out of Ten Thousand Dao Sect together. With our combined strength, there is no one in Ten Thousand Dao Sect who can stop us.”
With those words, Xue Kui placed the doll on the ground and blew a breath of qi onto it. Immediately after, she placed a wisp of her divine soul onto the doll’s body.
The doll began to grow larger and larger until it reached the size of an ordinary person.
“Go,” Xue Kui said, patting the doll’s head. The doll made a crackling sound and then flew off in the direction of Ten Thousand Dao Sect’s main peak.
Xue Kui closed her eyes, her spiritual sense connected to the doll, maintaining complete control over it.
Qing Yuan sat beside Xue Kui, providing her spiritual protection.
In less than the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, Xue Kui controlled the doll and arrived at Ten Thousand Dao Sect’s main peak.
Xue Kui easily controlled the doll as it flew inside.
Because the doll had formations arranged upon it and used some heavenly materials and earthly treasures that could conceal its presence, even though the main peak’s formations remained activated, they detected nothing.
Upon entering the mountain peak, “Xue Kui” took out a compass.
The compass had been specially crafted by Qing Yuan, with drops of the precious blood of the previous Karma Blood Peak master, Zhou Rushi, infused within it.
As long as the distance did not exceed thirty zhang, the compass would be able to sense Zhou Rushi.
“Xue Kui” walked continuously through the main peak, yet the compass remained motionless.
After half an hour, “Xue Kui” arrived before a rocky cliff face.
Looking at this cliff wall, her brow could not help but furrow. She always felt something was amiss with this rock face.
“Xue Kui” walked forward and reached out to touch the cliff wall, only then discovering that the interior was hollow.
She took out a stone from a secret compartment in the doll’s thigh and placed it on the rocky wall.
The stone was inscribed with runes and was a precious treasure for breaking through formations and barriers.
As the stone continuously trembled, the patterns on its surface shifted every second.
Finally, when the patterns on the “formation-breaking diagram” became fixed, the rock wall before “Xue Kui” cracked open to a height of one zhang.
“Xue Kui” felt her heart leap with joy and took step after step inside.
This stone cave was extremely deep and continued downward into the earth.
After walking for an unknown length of time, the needle on the compass finally responded.
“Xue Kui” quickened her pace.
At the same time, on the peak of Karma Blood Peak, Xue Kui’s forehead broke out in cold sweat, and her heartbeat grew faster and faster.
Qing Yuan sensed something unusual about Xue Kui and felt a surge of joy in her heart.
She knew that Xue Kui must have found some clue about her master, otherwise she would not be so excited and tense.
“Tap.”
At Ten Thousand Dao Sect’s main peak, when Xue Kui finally came to a halt, everything she saw before her struck her divine soul.
Ten cultivators were bound by chains, standing on either side of the cave.
Under their feet were formations drawn, and their bodies had been pierced with numerous soul-locking nails.
“Master!” Quickly, “Xue Kui” spotted her master and rushed toward her.
Seeing her master’s haggard and unconscious appearance, Xue Kui’s eyes trembled and her fingers quivered.
For Xue Kui, her master was not merely a master but more like her own mother.
“Master, wake up, wake up. Master,” “Xue Kui” tried to awaken her master, but it was completely futile.
As for the chains, with the doll’s current strength, there was no way to cut through them, and she could not even force the soul-locking formation out of her master’s body.
Just as Xue Kui was wondering what to do, the formations under the ten cultivators’ feet activated. Their souls and life essences flowed like streams toward the statue at the front.
At first, “Xue Kui” did not pay much attention to this statue, thinking it was merely a simple sculpture but now, that statue, which had absorbed the life essence and spiritual power of her master, was radiating a dazzling light.
She wore a long skirt made of beast hide, her long hair draped over her shoulders, gazing into the distance, with a smile that was neither a smile nor not a smile gracing her slightly raised lips.
Waves of spiritual energy rippled outward from her body.
It seemed as though this statue was about to come to life.
Even “Xue Kui” sensed a terrifying pressure.
This sensation was like the blood suppression a true dragon exerted over all beasts.
She herself, an Immortal realm cultivator of the human race, actually felt the urge to bow down in submission!
“Do you know who this is?” Suddenly, a male voice came from behind “Xue Kui”.
“Xue Kui” concentrated her divine consciousness, and a long blade appeared in the doll’s arm. She turned and slashed.
“Clang!” The long blade in the doll’s hand was blocked by Ten Thousand Dao Sect’s sect master, Ding Jingyi’s, long sword.
“She is the most perfect existence in this world, and I will become such an existence!” Ding Jingyi continued, his tone calm beyond measure, yet his eyes were nearly crazed with obsession.
“However, I never expected that you, junior disciple, would actually find this place. But unfortunately, it is already too late.”
With those words, Ding Jingyi flicked open the blade in “Xue Kui’s” hand and with one slash, severed the doll’s head.
“Cough, cough, cough,” On the peak of Karma Blood Peak, Xue Kui suddenly opened her eyes, her chest rising and falling violently.
“Xue Kui,” Qing Yuan, seeing this, hurriedly stepped forward with concern.
“Let’s go!” Xue Kui grabbed Qing Yuan’s arm tightly.
“Leave now!”
